Dolphins and Tigers and Wolves, Oh My! 8/7/2006

Minnesota Zoo is home to more than 2000 animals, which are divided into 5 areas: Minnesota Trail, Northern Trail, Tropics Trail, Discovery Bay and Family Farm. I would also recommend checking out one of the dolphin shows. They are held daily during the summer. There’s a monorail that takes visitors around the zoo, as well as refreshments and a gift shop. more

Takes a full day to tour this Zoo 2/9/2006

The Minnesota Zoo is an all-day event with all they have to see, both inside and out. When you pay your admission/parking, you will receive a daily schedule and zoo map. We always take a quick look over, so we can decided what we want to see and when. Some attractions are at opposite ends of the zoo, so you want to manage your time a little. We seen the bird show for the first time on our last visit and I can't say enough about the fun we had. I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but I will say that birds do fly free in the auditorioum - right over your head! The outside animals are grouped by region - they had a few newcomers this year, so that was fun to see. The dolphin show is also always a hit - they have a new baby as well. Great food options, they have the imax and the main gift shop is pretty fun to browse through. more

this place is a ZOO! 12/29/2005

I remember going on field trips to the Minnesota Zoo and waiting nearly all year with great anticipation. There are varieties of animals from nearly every continent, including lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!). Plus, attendees will have a special offer to see one of the world-class Imax films on their special Imax screen. Just don't sit in the front row! more

Kinda Spendy~But Nice!! 12/27/2005

t's a little out of the way and costs more than Como Zoo in St. Paul (8 bucks compared to free), but the Minnesota Zoo does an excellent job in displaying animals in their natural habitats. They have huge paddocks for animals to run and graze. There's a dolphin pool where you can see them through underwater windows. Avoid the monorail tour unless it's raining, it's really slow and the cars aren't ventilated very well, which is horrible on hot days. The zoo has good concerts during the summer and a little farm where they've got pigs and cows and chickens, which is great for kids. more

a great family outing 11/20/2005

They have a wonderful shows exhibits are really great. . They have the tram to ride which you have to pay extra for. I don't know that it is worth it there are not a lot of animals to see there and is hard to see . i enjoy it more when we walk it but it is a long walk for small children or elders . it is pretty pricey and you even for parking more

Fun for the whole family 11/10/2005

They have a wonderful dolphins show which I just love. And the inside exhibits are really great. I think they change the main one every year. They have the tram to ride which you have to pay extra for. I don't know that it is worth it there are not a lot of animals to see there. They could use some more in the back. You also have to pay for parking. All in all it's a great place to go and have a fun day. more

Great zoo, get an annual membership 9/23/2005

First of all, the zoo is only 10 minutes from my house. Therefore, it is extremely convenient for me. The daily admission prices are ridiculous, but the annual memberships are definitely worth it. I love that they have a complete indoor loop that you can go to during the winter. Get the kids out of the house and see some fun animals. They have 2 playground areas during the summer, which is a nice break for the kids. They also have the farm which is a great hands-on thing for the kids. Definitely recommend it with the annual membership! more

Support our local zoo! 9/15/2005

So the prices are a little steep but we are very lucky to have such a great zoo nearby. I visit the MN zoo at least once a year with my family and every time is a new experience. They are continually adding new features and remodeling which makes it exciting to go back and see the changes. There is definitely a day full of activities so make a day out of it! Worth the money! more

Minnesota Zoo 8/29/2005

Minnesota Zoo is one of the best places entire family can enjoy and never get tired of it. I especially enjoy indoor exhibits. There is even an exhibit of nocturnal animals, so one can see them while they are active – Minnesota Zoo is the only place I’ve seen it so far. Definitely go - and come back again and again, one day is not enough to see everything. more

Great place for families! 8/21/2005

The Minnesota Zoo is a wonderful place to spend some quality time with your family. Our family owns a membership and the price is well worth it, especially since parking is $5 without it! There are many clean, fun animal exhibits and the smell that I remember as a child is much better. The dolphin show is excellent as is watching the fish and sharks being fed. There is also a real working farm that is a blast for the little kids. You can see a cow being milked or go into the petting zoo and pet the goats. There are also a few different play areas with swings and slides that are a great place to eat a picnic lunch at. Two thumbs up for the MN zoo! more

nice zoo - but expensive for a single trip 8/18/2005

The Minnesota Zoo has a lot of animals. They have a lot of exhibits also. The dolphins are a huge hit with our family. We like that there is a lot to look at. However, we think that the zoo is really lacking because they don't have some of the more popular animals that kids like. And, the animals that they do have that are popular are far away and can't always be seen. Because of this we think 12 dollars a person is a lot to spend when como zoo provides entertainment for the younger crowd. We do have an annual pass to the MN zoo. That is the only reason we visit. more

The Zoo that has it all 8/17/2005

This is not just a zoo, most people don't realize that. Yes, they have LOTS of varieties of animals, name one and it's likely they have it. But they also have an amplitheater that plays host to several concerts and an IMAX theater which shows both education IMAX movies and many of Hollywood's latest releases on the really big screen! My personal favorites in the Zoo have to be the Gibbon exhibit and the aquarium. The Gibbons are very energetic and are often swinging around and playing. The new aquarium is massive. They have a few different tanks including sharks, and several hundred fish. There is also a "hands-on" area where you can feel some of the creatures. Great for kids! I'm 20 and I still enjoy it! more

Fun times year round! 8/10/2005

For several years we have visited the MN Zoo during the holidays for Walk the Wild Lights. We have also visited the zoo during the regular season too. They have a good variety of animals and activities for kids. Now that we live closer we will probably get a membership - especially as our kids get older and want to visit more often. Even without a membership it is fairly reasonable. more

Great zoo and wonderful camps for kids! 8/9/2005

Great place for the whole family and definitely get a membership if you go more than once a year because with admission for each and then paying for parking it pays for itself in 2 visits. The zoo camps are great fun for preschool and elementary kids. They get to see the animals up close and learn even more. more

Fun experience! 8/6/2005

Minnesota Zoo provides a fun experience for everyone, with or without children. It is one of the best zoos, with tons of different animals and much to see. We especially enjoyed the dolphin show and marine exhibits...very impressive, particularly for the Minnnesota area. They also have a great Imax-like theater experience that often features great shows. I highly recommend it both to those who live in the Minnesota area and for those who are visiting the area. more

Awesome - Worth a Membership 8/5/2005

The Minnesota Zoo is one of favorite family mainstays. We have had a membership for the last 5 years and we are convinced that is the way to go. It doesn't take many visits to break even and it reduces the added pressure to race through the whole zoo. There is so much to see, sometimes it's great just to focus on one area. The kids get a chance to become very familar with an area that they start to see beyond the obvious and think deeper about what they are seeing. It's great to have such a great zoo in the local community. Visit the zoo and better yet...become a member. more

Minnesota Zoo 8/1/2005

I feel the Minnesota Zoo does not have enough animals to see. We felt like most of our time was spent walking from one place to another and not seeing that many animals. The price of admission was not bad though. The food is over prices so I would recommend packing a picnic lunch. The thing I did like was the train you could ride. After a long day it was nice to be able to sit back and enjoy the ride. more

Minnesota Zoo = FUN 7/24/2005

Minnesota Zoo is by far the best zoo we have ever visited yet! There is so much to do and see you almost need the whole day to do it all. This zoo is great for the little kids and people of all ages! Besides just seeing all the animals there is so much more to do. They have a real live camel ride, where they will also take your picture. We had a lot of fun with that! They also have swan paddle boats you can ride around in a little lake. If the kids like farms they feature a tractor trailer ride to a farm where you can feed goats and pigs. The zoo is a little pricey but for all the things to do in my opinion, its definitely worth every penny. I definitely recommend checking out this zoo. more

A Great Zoo 7/8/2005

The Minnesota Zoo is a great place for adults and children alike. They are open year-round and they've got both indoor and outdoor exhibits so you can enjoy the animals in any kind of weather. The walking paths are wide and stroller friendly. There's also two playgrounds inside the zoo if the kids get tired of the animals. They've got a working farm that features wagon rides and petting zoos. They also have an Imax theater, which isn't included in the price of the zoo admission. The food is a bit expensive, however, so if you plan on eating there you might want to pack a lunch. more

Zootastic 7/2/2005

The Minnesota Zoo offers a fun day for all ages. The admission is kind of high for one day, however the memberships are very reasonable. If you live in the area and have small children, it pays to buy a membership. Parking is $5, but free to members. Some of the exhibits at the Minnesota Zoo include the Family Farm(farm animals), Discovery Bay (Sharks, Dolphins, and other aquatic animals), the Northern Trek, The Minnesota Trail, and the Tropics. They also have many different special events. more
