Cool store 8/1/2011

Nice little store. I like to come here to buy all my fish. I used to go to Petco but my fish always die after a week. The prices are average. They have a great selection and good customer service. They really know what they are talking about. If you like tropical fish you should give them a try. Oh yeah and if you don't see something .. just ask. They have so much stuff it is hard to find sometimes. more

Nice Store 3/18/2011

Nice local shop on Aurora. Decent prices but can't compare to the huge chains. Has a nice selection of fish and animals. They have more exotic animals like tarantulas, snakes and other types of animals. I have purchased many fish from here and all of them are healthy. They give me a lot of advice on how to keep my fish happy when i ask. Great people and store. Would recommend to everyone. more

A treasure for Seattle. 4/20/2009

Good: It is certainly not the smallest fish store in Seattle, the fw selection is interesting, and includes large fish. They are stocking marine fish, and they may not have the largest selection, but they have devoted space and several HUGE tanks to marine stock. The products on the shelves are a very wide variety, including parts for several different brands of equipment. If you think of something, but you don't see it, then ask because the retail shelves are stocked floor to ceiling.. Bad: The prices are competitive on many items AND the selection of (sand, filters, parts, aquariums...) stuff is better than most stores. These people care about the craft of keeping aquariums. Reward them by spending your money at their cash register.. Improvements: I am NOT an expert. BUT it looks like many of the tanks are serviced only by sponge filters. I LIKE sponge filters, but I am not sure it is enough for store conditions. I would rather see all of the fish healthy and in tanks that look perfect. However a dead fish or two would be a standard complaint from me, it is rare when a store can avoid a bad tank, or a dead fish.. Other: It is a treasure when an independent store can supply (1) great selection of products (2) nice people. I can think of maybe only 3 other stores in the Seattle area that even try to do what these people do. Probably when you include the good service there might only be 1 or 0 stores who are of this caliber.. more

Over price... not honest 2/14/2009

We bought a 30 Galon tank and bunch of water testing, conditioning suppies from this fish store, then relaized that they really priced certain things way too high. The same tank you could have gotten at PetCo for $20 less. The owner must have felt guilty and offered us some discount if we would get some fish from them later. A week later, we went back, and they did recognize us but didn't offer any discount at all..... I strongly suggest to shop around before you buy anything from this store. I wish we did. more

Not Very Shady 4/15/2006

I expected a pet shop on Aurora to be pretty shady, but I was pleasantly surprised by Little Amazon. Most of the store is fish, with some reptiles, birds and small mammals in the back, which seemed clean and healthy. The aquariums were very clean and the fish all looked healthy and active, with very few floaters. Most of the tanks were labeled accurately and the owner gave me advice on some fish I didn't recognize. (Internet searches verified his information after I got home). Prices were comparable to Petsmart, with Ghost Knife fish at $20 and plecostomus varieties in the $5-10 range. Word of caution- they did carry painted glass fish and possibly one other artificially colored fish, which would be a deterrent to anyone who takes a hard line on fish cruelty. more
