This is also one of many places I visit when I have my coffee break. They make good quality of coffee. And their service is fast and always wear a happy face. more

5 stars for the coffee 7/30/2006

....not so much the atmosphere. A little attitude, a little local clique hangout, but hands down the best coffee in Seattle. more

If I were a coffee drinker 4/20/2006

So I know I've reviewed a lot of coffee places and even though I don't drink too much of it, I can't keep the fact that I know this is one (if not THE) best coffee roasters in the city. I should know, I live with a connoisseur. But it's also a cute, neighborhoody place and that's just cool. I get my chai and sit outside on the bench and just soak up the occasional sun. There's not a lot of room inside, but the amazing coffee makes you forget that and you walk out in a stunned hazed, enjoying every last drop. The folks know what they are doing too... more

Where my 'addiction' began... 12/30/2005

This is where I first experienced a REALLY GOOD AMERICANO. Seriously. I never *liked* coffee up till then, it was more out of necessity. The fact that this is the cheapest good coffee in Seattle (only 1.50 for a double and 1.75 with flavoring) definitely helped my impression of this cute Upper Fremont roaster. Lighthouse is where you go if you want a really good cup of coffee. Bottom line. I agree with the other reviews: barista's are nice and efficient, atmosphere is average...not cozy...super hot on summer days (or when the roaster is going), not suggested for meetings or dates, relatively clean. Easy parking though, almost like a drive-thru, stop in and roll on with your day... more

Lighthouse Coffee 8/18/2005

OK, so the atmosphere isn’t as posh as some other places. You won’t find couches here, only retro tables and chairs that have seen their day. Here’s the bottom line: the coffee is strong and perfect…the best in Seattle. The baristas have memories that you won’t believe…one caveat: there’s no frappamochaccinos here, only the basics. You’ll need to get your froo froo drinks elsewhere. Pastries, though, are here—excellent scones and cookies. more

Lighthouse Roasters 8/16/2005

Interestingly, the first time I sipped here, I liked neither the coffee nor the room. And then I moved closer. It must have been a bad day for the barista, because Lighthouse is now one of my five-favorite roasters and the shots they pull are dynamite. Even better, Lighthouse might be the best espresso-value in the city. Anyplace where the baristas call out the usual orders of everyone in a line fifteen persons deep is a place I’m happy to be for two reasons. First—they know your order and this implies all kinds of great things. Second—they call out your order while you are eight customers back of the register. This reveals the amazing efficiency with which the baristas plow through what would otherwise be very deterring lines. Yes. This is Good. more

Just right coffee 4/30/2005

This cafe is located in residential area but there is always a line on Saturday/Sunday morning. It looks regular cafe but their coffee is great. I usually get Americano but whenever they have croissant, I have Latte. They goes very well together. Crispy on the edge, so soft and butterly inside. Yum. Before I moved to Shoreline, I go there and even get their coffee beans. Believe me, it's so good. more

microbrew for coffee drinkers 3/5/2005

There seems to be a trend these days of micro-coffee roasteries - Stumptown in Portland and Lighthouse in Seattle being two great examples. I don't think it's a new trend, but it's definitely a good one. Lighthouse Roasters isn't cozy or comfy, and I don't think I'd go there to hang out, but if you're looking for fantastic, locally roasted, extremely high quality coffee, this is the place to go. Lighthouse serves espresso drinks, some baked goods, and a good variety of house roasted whole and ground bean - it's also served at both Essential Baking Company and Persimmon. Also a great gift for out of town guests excited to visit the coffee capital of the country... more
