Very Satisfied. 2/29/2012

The staff has always showed love, care and concern for the pets I have brought in. Whether it is routine exams or emergency situations the staff has been professional, and made sure all of my questions are answered. They also do not reschedule frivilous appointments as other vets do.\r \r I have begun to board my two dogs there. more

Head Tech. 10/19/2010

My name is Christa I’m head Tech @ LHVC, I was on staff with this particular case, Mickey was an extremely! Sick dog. He came to our clinic as a routine appoint meant for check urine at that point we had found a stone was lodge in the urethra. The Doctor on call this night was not COMFORTABLE performing surgery on a dog of his conditions & age. The Doctor referred the patient to pets for intensive 24 hr care considering our facility is not a ""hospital"" we are a clinic, we do not have 24 hr care. For the pets best interest we thought he needed intensive care. Pets did not perform the surgery either. He was referred back to our clinic for post care. At this point he had started showing weird signs of distress and discomfort, Dr. Lewis decided to perform an endoscopy under a mild sedation. That is when we found the stomach had a large mass growing and malforming the stomach. It was very large and had its own blood supply. The stomach was being eaten away. He had been vomiting profusely after every meal; he lost a considerable amount of weight. He could barley hold his own head up. Dr. Lewis wasn't sure what kind of cancer we were dealing with but it was a rapid aggressive tumor. The pet as this point was completely suffering!! Quality of life is to be considered when dealing with any cancer patient, considering he couldn’t even eat, it was very selfish to prolong this poor dogs suffering. Dr.Lewis gave the owner options and she chose to euthanize her pet to cease his suffering. She declined a necropsy. The only way for Dr. Lewis to confirm the type of cancer. She asked Dr. Lewis what was the best thing to do and he gave her his professional opinion to end the pets suffering. This pet looked in my eyes with so much pain and discomfort it broke my heart. I could never imagine feeling the pain he did. The bladder stone at this point was irrelevant. This pet was suffering!! From a very large mass in its abdomen. I feel our clinic did what was best for the patient. Some times we are never ready to loose one we love but it’s a sin to be selfish and cause more pain and suffering more

Pet Lovers Beware 9/7/2010

My dog got a bladder stone lodged in his urethra and Dr. Dymun was ""scared"" to do the surgery to remove it so she sent my dog to PETS Emergency Treatment Services where the vet on duty that night flushed the stone back into his bladder. He had to spend the night there which was very expensive! I had to take him back to Lincoln Highway Vet Clinic the next day so that Dr. Lewis could do the surgery to remove the stone. Since it was New Years Eve I had to take my dog back to PETS to recover. He was diabetic and developed ketoacidosis and was very sick and ended up spending the entire holiday weekend at PETS! That Monday I had to take my dog back to Lincoln Highway for further treatment because he was still too sick to go home. Dr. Lewis gave him barium, took x-rays and told me that my dog had stomach cancer and there was nothing we could do for him. I made the difficult decision to put him down. Later when I was able to discuss with Dr. Lewis what happened with my dog he told me he wasn't sure if my dog had cancer because he didn't do an autopsy! Why did he let me put him down??!! I'm devastated!! :0( more
