Wow, Divine, took your advise and went straight to Naomi's in Lake Oswego. My lamp was fixed in an hour! I'm happy. more

Don't let Larry touch your lamp! I 4/16/2012

Don't let Larry touch your lamp! I brought in an antique lamp for an estimate. He said he couldn't rewire it because it was European wiring and then proceeded to break a candle cover to show me it was old. He didn't look up or greet me when I entered the store, which was the first clue I should have walked out. He made no offer to replace nor apology for breaking the candle cover. I recommend Naomi's in Lake Oswego or the Lampshade Shop in North Portland. Avoid Larry's.... more

I was seeking a part for my old kerosene lamp. Larry looked at the lamp and recommended another store. . He was a perfectly reasonable and amiable individual. more

Found Hard To Replace Fixture 8/26/2009

Fixture in my light bridge stopped working. The original manufacturer was nowhere to be found. Another lamp shot could not fix it and recommended Larry's. He, too, deemed it unworkable and found a different company that had just what I needed. He ordered it and though it took some time to get here (through no fault of his own--China is a ways a way, and it takes a while to fill a container), I couldn't be happier. Friendly service, accurate service, I couldn't have asked for better. Pros: Solved A Problem No One Else Could more

Knows his stuff! 3/14/2009

Larry knows his lighting. I have a collection of Artemide lights (expensive modern Italian lamps) and he knows the brand inside and out. I wouldn't trust anyone else with them. He's a walking enyclopaedia of lighting repair. Pros: Expert, honest Cons: no weekend hours more

Nasty and Rude Owner Demands That You Avoid His Store 2/26/2009

Horrible, nasty customer service - if you want to be insulted and treated rudely - try Larry's - he'll do it for free! he won't even ask for money ! If you want something repaired your best bet is to find another repair shop or learn to do the work yourself! Avoid at all costs! Cons: rude owner more

Super Service Super Fast 1/7/2009

I have no idea about the other reviewer, but my service was great. Pros: Knows what he is doing, has fixed other peoples fixe's a couple times. Cons: He is so busy that sometimes it takes a while to get it done. more

Worst service ever -- Stay away! 9/30/2008

This is the worst customer service I have ever had! It was almost like the soup-guy from Seinfeld but not funny. When I dropped off several fixtures to be re-wired, Larry just growled that it would take two weeks. I was given no receipt and no price. When I called two weeks later, he literally yelled at me that that was just a ballpark and would give no further details about completion. Later, when I picked the fixtures up, he ignored questions about the repairs and took a phone call on speaker-phone. If you insist on going to Larry's, you'll know the second you walk in the door that they are horrible. I really can't believe people who treat the lifeblood of their business (customers) so rudely. I am a designer in Portland and will never recommend or use Larry's. more
