DO NOT RENT WITH LANE PROPERTIES. 3/26/2012

Gayle Doty (the manager and leasing agent) is the most unprofessional leasing agent I have ever dealt with. If you have any problems related to the property, she will NEVER call you back. If you want to talk to Gayle, the receptionist Maria will put you on hold and tell you that Gail will call you back . Not to mention that they WILL keep all of your deposit when you move out. They will overcharge you, and also make up damages that weren't even there. I don't get why Gayle hasn't been fired. Like scronchie's review underneath mine says, no matter how many times you call, she's NEVER going to call you back. In a period of 3 months, i wanted to speak to her about 7 times. I never heard from her or anyone at all. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY WITH LANE PROPERTIES. more

THE WORST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER RENTED FROM 7/19/2011

UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNDERHANDED. We loved our house that we were renting, and were devastated to be moving. Little did I know that the real devastation was going to be dealing with Lane Properties throughout the move out process! First of all, getting ahold of Gayle Doty is like trying to call the pope- it doesn't matter how many messages you leave for her, she's not going to call you back anytime soon, so don't wait around. Secondly, don't even bother to think that you're getting your deposit back, because they've already spent it on pitchforks, or hellfire, or something like that. I did my damnedest to play by the rent rules, including leaving a very professional 30 day written notice with the office. When I asked if I should turn my keys in on the 30th or give them directly to Gayle at the walk-through on the 7th (which was the earliest I could schedule it because of work), I was told that either would be just fine. After many hours of cleaning our very large house, I thought we would be getting a positive walk through from Gayle. WRONG! She came in and remarked that it looked like no one had bothered to clean it at all. I fought back the urge to let loose some serious rage in the hopes of a decent deposit return. WRONG AGAIN! We were charged a ridiculous amount for post move out cleaning. Oh, and by the way, because I had handed my keys directly to Gayle on the 7th, we were charged almost $300 in unpaid rent. Thanks Lane Properties. You really, really suck. more

unethical property owner 12/16/2010

We were treated so nicely by the company owner up until we had to move out. To start with the property that we chose was disgusting, a lot of work needed to be done as far as cleaning and fixing. from all the things we asked for to be fixed by the property manager, nothing was done. We didn't even have garage openers, there is a lack of communication in that office between the owner and her employees which is why we chose to leave before the contract was up and she had no problem with that. Moreover, on the day of move-out the manager was very rude claimed things were not there in the house before we moved in when we had mentioned that in a check-in list before we moved in such as weeds in the backyard, holes in carpet, dirty pans that came in the oven but I guess she doesn't like to read. We were told because she had a new tenant ready to move in before end of our month rent and if we moved out 3 days early we would get compensated for the 3 days and she never gave us money claiming that she is not obliged to, not to mention the new tenant was living under my PNM (electricity account) for a full month and the bill was sent to a colllection account under my name. Its a rip off company with the worst management and owner, no professionalism, irresponsible, and very very rude. I would never recommend this company as they are very frustrating and you would find yourself repeating yourself about the things that you would like done over and over again, if anything they add stress into your personal and private life. If I can put no star on this review I wouldn't have hesitated. good luck :) more

Lane Prpoerties gets one star from me 12/23/2008

This company has been such a nightmare to deal with. They are unresponsive and have a very apathetic attitude. We have had an endless number of problems in the place we're renting, from a filthy house upon move-in, multiple busted plumbing fixtures, broken appliances, broken locks, missing screens, dysfunctional windows, and plenty of other issues. It's taken well over a month to get most of the issues resolved. Getting an email reply isn't always the problem, but getting a straight answer is ALWAYS a problem. I have never rented from such a difficult company to deal with, and cannot understand why they can't seem to get their act together. If you're considering renting from them...all I can say is do your research, and good luck!!! Pros: Affordable rentals Cons: The review says is all more

Really nice company 9/24/2007

These guys are great!! Out of all the managers and landlords I've had in te last 20+ years, there aren't any that care about tenants and take care of their houses as good. My husband and I will continue with Lane for as long as we have to rent. They said they will also help us buy when we're ready to do that. Really good company and recommend them to everybody. Unprofessional and rude 8/31/2007

I've rented for about ten years and this is the most rude and unprofessional rental business I've ever encountered. The girl showing us the properties yawned constantly and said, ""I don't know"" to almost every question we asked (she made no attempts to find out either). She stood in the front doorway with the door opened while we looked at the houses, which made us feel rushed. The man who wrote our lease contract made 19 mistakes in it, one of which they tried to change later because it served them better. The house we moved into was filthy, with hair in the bathrooms, stuff on the carpet, food splattered in the microwave, etc. When we moved out, they kept much of our deposit for charges we don't agree with (I've never lost any of my deposits in 10 years of renting because we leave the properties so clean). Honestly, I expected this out of a company that didn't do anything professional up to this point. Any phone calls I have made have been answered by rude and sarcastic staff. I would absolutely never rent from this place again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Professional management 8/3/2007

Lane Properties got me into rental properties almost 28 years ago and I still have all my properties with them today for the following reasons: They have a very professional management style. They have grown with the times too, you can rent from them online, property owners can receive their statement online, renters can pay online as well. They have a tenant vetting process that serves the property owners well. They also have their own maintenance crews that can be used for property upkeep. Lane Properties uses a purpose built software package for accounting and reporting. They have a close working relationship with local law enforcement for tenant/property issues.\r \r I whole heartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a reasonable, reliable and trustworthy management agency. We've used Lane Properties for more than 5 years and have always had very good customer service, and felt like they really care about the houses they have managed for us.
