La Sposa saved my daughter's wedding! We had received a defective Watters WToo dress from a discount wholesaler in North Carolina. We went to La Sposa hoping to find a new gown. Margherita not only had the exact style of dress that my daughter adored, but she was able to order it in her size, with less than 2 months until the wedding. It came in 3 weeks before the big day, and Margherita altered it to fit beautifully, even changing the lace top to match my daughter's preferences. The bustling was beautiful, and everyone complimented the dress. My daughter felt and looked fantastic! Margherita even worked over the weekend to make sure she would be able to get the dress in on time. My daughter was so sad before she met her, and so happy afterward. It is a small shop, but the customer service is great. more

This is a great Bridal Salon. I bought my wedding dress here for next summer. Margherita and her team are extremely talented. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a bridal dress, or a bridesmaids dresses. more

Made my wedding dream come true! 8/30/2011

I had my heart set on wearing my mother's wedding dress. My mother passed away 3 years ago, and I had always planned to wear it. After one cleaning, it was still so yellow. I found Margherita by a simple google search, and she sent my dress out to be restored. She stood next to me as she made the call to ensure it would be taken care of. It came back pure ivory. I was so ecstatic! Margherita then took her time to alter the dress to fit me perfectly, remove sleeves, and find /apply lace to the dress to cover worn areas. I am SO happy with her work! Margherita was very reasonably priced especially considering her experience and my, in particular, labor-intensive dress. If you need any intricate work done, you know she will do an incredible job! I would recommend her to any bride! I sent my bridesmaids there, too. She took care of everything start to finish. more

Mother of the Bride 11/26/2010

I had to write this review. Ten years ago my daughter got a prom gown from Margarita. It was beautiful! We returned not realizing that this was the same place. We mentioned the prom gown and she remembered. We had ideas for the wedding dress. Both Margarita and Maria were very helpful but most important was their patience. We had tried on over 75 dresses and gone to over ten salons. We went back to LaSposa and bought the perfect gown. I felt very confidant that this dress will be perfect when all the alterations are done. This women knows what she's talking about. I highly recommend that you go here and you won't be disappointed. Worst Customer Service! 10/1/2010

I usually do not take the time to write reviews critcizing local businesses. However, due to my horrible experience at La Sposa, I decided it was neccessary to warn other brides. As soon as my sister and I walked in, we were scolded because we did not have an appointment. Fair enough. We tried to book an appointment three different times. We were told that we needed to call a month ahead of time to make an appointment. When we finally did make an appointment, we were told to walk around and see what kind of dresses we would like. None of the ladies took an interest in discussing and informing me about the dresses they had in stock. I was disgusted at their lack of customer service and took my business elsewhere. What a nightmare! more

It's like doing business with family 9/16/2010

I found my dream gown at another shop, but didn 't like their customer service, so I called La Sposa to see if they could order it for me. They did and it made all the difference! Margherita, the owner, was wonderful to work with and always made me feel like a member of her family. She and her staff are so attentive that no matter how many customers were in the shop, I always felt like the only one. As far as the quality of the alterations, you don't get any better than La Sposa. The bustle on my gown required 14 sets of ties, which Margherita did herself. She even spent the night before I picked it up, tying and retying them to make sure all the fabric bunched and fell perfectly for my special day. If you want to work with a shop owner who cares as much about your dress as you do, La Sposa Bridal is the place for you! more

Horrible Service or Wrong Number??? 9/13/2010

So we called the number listed on the website and everywhere in the internet and my mom spoke with an extremely rude woman - she kept changing the appointment and time, didn't even take our information until my mom asked if she needed our name or phone number and then when my mom asked her to confirm the address of shop the woman said ""No, and don't ever call here again."" and hung up. We triple checked the number we called and it is the same as listed online so either La Sposa changed their number or they are the WORST customer service people ever. Will not be shopping there. more

SCAM! Stay away! 8/2/2010

I am in one of my good friends' wedding and had to go here for the bridesmaid dress. I went to get measured, and the owner (who is also rude and pushy as others have said) measured me herself. It took about two seconds, she quickly threw a size chart in my face and said I was between a 4 and 6. She told me to go with the bigger size because they can always bring it in. I have NEVER been a 6 in my life but she insisted the sizes run small, and I figured this is her job. more

Loved La Sposa Bridal and Margherita 6/10/2010

I had a wonderful experience at La Sposa Bridal. I bought my wedding dress and all the bridesmaid dresses from them. Margherita is amazing! She can take any dress and make it fit like a dream. Her outstanding knowledge of the work that she is doing makes her a priceless addition to any wedding. If you treat her with respect, she treats you with respect. I wonder if the people who didn't have as good of an experience as I did just don't take the time and energy to understand people from different generations and different cultures. Margherita could not have been better and it was so nice dealing with a small bridal salon. It felt like home to me throughout my experience! Pros: knowledge; small shop; attentive more

worst business practices 4/24/2010

La Sposa is a terrible place to do business. After 30 days from ordering a dress but over 3 months BEFORE it even ships I was told that they would not refund ANY of the money and that there was nothing that could be done. These people need to update their policies so that this doesn't happen to customers. It is unfair and unethical. What place of business does this in this day in age? Stay away. Cons: unethical policies more

A Dream Come True! 4/20/2010

I would drive by La Sposa Bridal on my way to pick up my dog from daycare and I would see this place and think, ?What a lovely, neat, little shop!? When it came my time to get married, I knew exactly where to go. My experience at La Sposa Bridal was exceptional! All members of the staff were exceedingly warm and helpful. Margherita herself was such a treat! In the age where Internet rules, it seems a bit strange that purchasing a gown from a bridal boutique would be the preferred way to go. But in this case, ladies, it is a must! This is the ONLY way to ensure the attention and care that both you and your gown need for that special day. And it is rare to find someone with the years of the experience that Margherita has--so you really should take advantage of it if you can! My dress is a ball gown with a sweetheart neckline, heavily beaded bodice, and satin overlaid with organza. The train is cathedral. Just an incredibly beautiful dress that was hell on wheels for Margherita and her staff to bustle! But they did a tremendous job! Truly a masterpiece! I actually cried when I saw what they had done (and it takes a bit to make me cry!). The dress did not lose any of its glory after being bustled. It was not a traditional bustle in any sense and not just anyone would have come up with the vision. Only someone that has been in the business as long as Margherita had would know what to do with such an exceptionally, complicated dress. And the prices were just right?I actually feel that I paid a less than the standard of care and service that I received. But for those that are more pragmatic, the prices are competitive with what other quality boutiques charge for alterations. So ladies, if you want someone that has seen everything, that will fill you with utmost confidence for your special day, that will give it to you straight and will not steer you wrong, La Sposa Bridal is the only place for you! Happy wedding day to you all! Pros: Exceptional Service, Years of Experience more

A Lifesaver! 3/4/2010

La Sposa Bridal saved my friend's wedding (and my sanity!) My bridesmaids dress came very late - two days before my friend's wedding and did not fit correctly! Clearly an emergency, Marguerite and staff bent over backwards to completely redo my bridesmaids dress that did not fit! They were very understanding, accomodating and were truly amazing in re-making my dress! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LA SPOSA BRIDAL IN NEWTON to all my friends and family and anyone who wants a personal touch and ABOVE EXCELLENT SERVICE! Pros: Very accomodating, Excellent Work, Personal Touch more

Love for La Sposa 2/16/2010

I recently got married and I got my dress at La Sposa Bridal. The entire process was fantastic from the moment I walked in the door. What made me decide to buy my dress at La Sposa was the high quality service. As I read other peoples posts what they consider grilling I consider paying attention to detail. They asked me a lot of questions to try to understand what my dream dress and dream wedding was like. I had a few ideas for my dress (I wanted something modern and different but also classic that would not tire me after many years), but only because of Margherita and Maria's expertise I ended up with a completely different dress that flattered my figure beautifully and made me feel special and comfortable on my wedding day. Different than what I had in mind but still kept it modern and unique as I asked. The alterations were impeccable also. I ended up buying my 5 bridesmaids dresses, mother of the bride and mother in law dresses at the store. They helped us choose all our accessories that went well all together without looking tacky. I bought my dress 9 months before the wedding and from the first day I walked in the store to the last when I picked up my dress, my experience was wonderful. I build a relationship with Margherita and Maria through the months and getting to know them not only made me feel as part of the family, but made me appreciate their talented work and their style. They LISTENED to my likings and my concerns. For me that was huge! To all the brides that have complaints and to future brides that may read this... If you are really serious about your wedding process and would like the process made easy for you I recommend La Sposa. Pros: Great service, great prices, great selection more

Best Bridal Shop in Boston Area! 2/3/2010

I had an amazing experience at La Sposa Bridal. I have recommended this shop to my closest family and friends. My sister-in-law also ended up finding her wedding gown there too! Pros: styles, prices, trustworthy service, alteration work more

Raw deal in wedding dress shopping 10/13/2009

If I could give this place no stars I would. Being greeted by the owner was an experience all its own, cranky and extremely unprofessional. All she wanted was to sell a dress, didn't matter how it looked; all we heard was that she can fix anything in alterations. Believe me, most of these dresses needed a lot of help too! The prices are very cheap. but so are the dresses. Some of the worst manufacturing I have seen in a very long time. As soon as she knew this was only the second store we had been to and probably not making a decision then, we were left to our own devices. One other thing ladies, the store is not well kept and there were many pins on the floor in the fitting room. Save your money...go someplace else! Pros: Great Irish pub across the way Cons: Worst service I have ever encountered more

Price not worth the hassle 10/5/2009

While the price was right, Margarita (the shop owner and main seamstress) needs to learn some customer service skills. I brought my mom and MIL in for the first fitting and she was curt to both them when we had suggestions on how to make straps for the dress. The top layer of the dress was chiffon and she put a hole in the front trying to make a sweetheart neckline (which really didn't turn out to be much of a sweetheart neckline). Pros: price of the dress Cons: price of alterations, job done on the alterations, attitude more

Fantastic experience! 5/7/2009

I am truly shocked to read some of the negative comments posted about La Sposa and Margherita, the owner. I also stumbled into La Sposa after leaving Vows, which was truly a terrible experience. From the minute I walked in, Margarita told me what would look good on me and brought me out the most beautiful dresses to choose from...now, mind you, from the get go, I did NOT really love the ones she chose for me, but I humored her and tried them, and guess what? I loved one after the other, and fell in love with the final dress I tried as soon as I put it on. It was very different from what I ever imagined myself in, but I knew it was the one, as did my mother and sister. As for the no labels, over charging, and only accepting cash, I am not sure where that information came from...we charged the down payment on my dress and head piece, the samples I tried on did have labels, and the night after M ordered my dress for me, she called to let me know the exact style numbers, etc. so I could have a picture onlne. When I did my own search for it online, I typically found it to be at least $300-$400 more than what I paid. Trust me ladies...please do go to La Sposa bridal. You won't regret it!! Pros: wonderful service; reasonably priced; knowledgable owner Cons: sometimes crowded due to small size more

great dress, terrible service 3/8/2009

I was thrilled to get my dress at La Sposa on my first trip there. Lisa was incredibly gracious and helpful, and assured me that my dress, which was floor sample would be in perfect condition once the alterations were made. When I went for my fittings, I confirmed with Margherita that she would be able to fix the flaws (torn stitches, stains etc). She was impatient with me, insisting that i needed to have confidence in her work. She made me feel very bad for asking what I thought were very simple questions in a VERY polite way. When I finally came to pick up my dress, none of the things had been fixed. I asked her again to do them, and she did--grumbling, complaining, and yelling at me the whole time. It took a good 45 min to do everything--things she GUARANTEED would be done before I got there. Pros: my dress is beautiful and inexpensive Cons: service was HORRENDOUS more

Poor Service by Owner 2/6/2009

I went to this shop twice. First, in search of my bridal dress and again for the maids. My bridal dress experience went just fine, not really finding anything in my style, but that's not to say their collection wasn't lovely. As I was leaving, on my high of my first day of dress shopping, the owner caught me on my way out. She began to basically interrogate me, asking me where I was going next, and proceeded to talk trash about the other shops and advise me that 'dress shopping is not all fun, its very serious'. She simply continued to rattle on and on about how its a very serious thing. How lovely! more
