The LA Times reviewed La Morenita Oaxaquena a few weeks ago, and I decided to try it today. Oaxacan food (a provincial style of Mexican cuisine) is definitely becoming more popular around LA these days, but suffice to say that I've had NOTHING that's come close to the amazing Taste, Flavor, and Quality at La Morenita Oaxaquena!\r

The restaurant itself looks very inauspicious, hidden away in a mini-mall on 3rd Street in LA, but once you enter, the interior decor is fun and festive, and more importantly, the Food takes the spotlight: We started off with Tacos de Barbacoa de Chivo (Goat), and it was *amazing*! If you enjoy Lamb, it's similar, but has its own unique taste. Unlike other goat dishes (in various cuisines), the meat here is SO tender, SO juicy, it literally melts in your mouth!\r

Their Coloradito con Puerco (a Red Mole sauce dish) was also very satisfying. Lots of different flavors pour into you as you taste the pork ribs with their signature Red Mole sauce, and it was great. \r

Their Tlayuda con Todo (an Oaxacan style ""pizza"" with various meats and fresh cheeses!) was tasty, but didn't totally win me over. It was solid and a unique experience, but I enjoyed the other 3 dishes more.\r

Finally, we finished off with a Flor de Calabasa Empanada (Zucchini Flowers) was simply Fantastic! It's very light and subtle, and the Oaxacan fresh cheese they combined the Zucchini Flowers with made the dish heavenly!\r

There were quite a few other items on the menu (not listed by the LA Times) that I'll definitely be going back to try out. Overall, it's good to find new, Great Restaurants in LA, and La Morenita Oaxaquena is definitely one of them! Highly Recommended!
