Worth the visit 4/20/2009

I suppose I have a different kind of appreciation for the LDS Conference Center because I see it from an engineer's standpoint. Having watched it go up, and having attended presentations by the builders who shared some of the more interesting details of its construction, seeing the finished product really does impress me. The building is beautiful but not ostentatious, a tribute, I think, to a church that many know for its worldwide humanitarian efforts. Though the building was expensive, I've never left it wondering who went hungry in order that the Conference Center might have been funded. As each individual will see things in their own way, I think it's definitely worth the visit, if only to say you've seen a magnificently engineered building raised in honour of Christ. The tour guides are friendly and helpful, and I've enjoyed my visits every time I've been able to go. Pros: Beauty and elegance. Cons: No free parking. more

All-American cult 9/21/2008

Mormon Central is not to be missed if visiting Salt Lake City, partly because there's not much else to see in SLC beyond the beautiful mountains. The LDS Church is a true freak show, complete with white people re-enacting the clean-cut 1950s. The immense wealth of the LDS is on display in the Conference Center, but its not actually an interesting building architecturally. For the total freak show experience, go to adjacent Temple Square. However, you won't be allowed into the Temple, only tithe-payers can get it. Pros: freakiest cult in America Cons: freakiest cult in America more

Beautiful! 7/23/2002

No words can truly describe the magnificence of this glorious building, nor can they describe my feelings I felt as I went inside. The spirit of the Lord is definitely present inside and around it---the same spirit felt in and around temples. It is truly amazing! Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more
