I suppose I have a different kind of appreciation for the LDS Conference Center because I see it from an engineer's standpoint. Having watched it go up, and having attended presentations by the builders who shared some of the more interesting details of its construction, seeing the finished product really does impress me.
The building is beautiful but not ostentatious, a tribute, I think, to a church that many know for its worldwide humanitarian efforts. Though the building was expensive, I've never left it wondering who went hungry in order that the Conference Center might have been funded.
As each individual will see things in their own way, I think it's definitely worth the visit, if only to say you've seen a magnificently engineered building raised in honour of Christ.
The tour guides are friendly and helpful, and I've enjoyed my visits every time I've been able to go.
Pros: Beauty and elegance.
Cons: No free parking.
