We (my now wife and I) started looking for engagement rings in what I would imagine is the typical fashion - by going to the big box stores and being hassled, or maybe more accurately, bullied into whatever jewelry the salesperson thought we should like. The selection of jewelry was outdated, plain, and almost always the same as the previous store we had visited. Admittedly, not all things were bad; there were some pieces that were unique and to our liking (even the occasional salesperson was okay). However, we had more or less decided at this point that the only way to get exactly what we wanted was to get a custom ring. more

Working with Lee on my wife's wedding band was truly a wonderful experience. For such a special, important piece, you want to make sure you have a jeweler you can trust and will do a fantastic job. As someone who knew very little about jewelry planning on marrying a girl who knew a LOT about jewelry, I was understandably nervous about my decision. I went to many "pedestrian" jewelry stores to do some research; an impersonal experience that normally started with a catalog search. However, after one window-shop with my girlfriend at Krombholz, I was able to confidently make my decision. The difference was Lee, Brad, and the helpful staff at Krombholz. By merely listening to my girlfriend describing (in detail) the components of her ideal ring, Krombholz was able to produce some stunning examples and design a custom ring. The staff at Krombholz was extremely knowledgeable, professional and flexible, providing outstanding customer service before and after the purchase. My fiance and I spent quite a bit of time checking out jewelers in the Cincinnati area from Tiffany, James Free, Krombholz and others. Each store had a different feel and we had good experiences at each. After our first trip into Krombholz is was no question where I was going to buy the engagement ring. We met with Lee on our first visit and worked with him from there on out. Lee was very flexible with our schedules as I am out of town every weekday and he made sure to fit us in on any day that we asked. more

Of course they have lovely jewelry but that is not the best part. The best part is the staff and service. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. I?ve done everything from purchase, to repairs, to custom made jewelry. Brad is very creative and great to work with. I can't say enough good things about Krombholz Jewelers. My fiance and I visited several local jewelers in Cincinnati while shopping for my engagement ring and the decision to buy from Krombholz was an easy one. From the moment we first walked into Krombholz the employees were more concerned with educating us about diamonds and the selection process than making a sale. I never felt pressured. They went out of their way to bring in multiple stones for me to see, and when I wasn't able to find one I wanted the first time, they kept bringing in more. Through this process I was truly able to pick out my favorite cut in a quality level that was acceptable to me. I also had Lee create a custom setting based on pictures I provided from the internet. The final product is absolutely beautiful. I have received so many compliments on the style. Since this purchase, my fiance also returned to buy me a pair of pearl earrings. He had nothing but great things to say about his experience with Ellie and Brad during this transaction. I will also be returning to have my wedding band custom made to match my engagement ring. Aside from our extremely positive experiences in terms of customer service and quality of their jewelry, I would also say that the prices here seem very reasonable to me. I was nervous that having a band custom made would be impossible on our budget, but it ended up being the same or very similar to pricing on pre-existing bands that I didn't like as much. This is simply the best jewelry store in the midwest. Customer service is the hallmark of this store, and it is matched by the knowledge and technical skill of the highly trained jewelers. Their jewelers are custom specialists, which should appeal to both newbies, as well as seasoned jewelry buyers. Their eagerness to explain options in layman terms makes it a comfortable setting to make purchases in. What is most refreshing is that they do not try to convince you to make the most expensive purchase or repair. They care about their customers, which will immediately become apparent to you when you walk in the door. The store truly has a familial atmosphere. He proded, clarified and summarized and the end result was a masterpiece. He connected all the 6 children's initial along with mine and my wife in a white gold setting bordered by two rows of rubies signifying her birth month and 40th anniversary. I went to Krombholz jewelers to reset the diamond from my original engagement ring. When I started the process, I knew nothing about jewelry, and had no idea what I even liked. I sat down with Lee, who patiently showed me many styles and shapes of rings, and we tried to narrow down what my taste was. We met several times, going over many designs and options. I eventually came up with a look that I wanted (and was worried that "my ring" looked good in my head, but wouldn't look as good in real life). Lee brought my vision to life even better than I could have imagined! The quality and craftsmanship is incredible and the whole process went so smoothly. I became a customer of Krombholz 8 years ago, and I have never bothered to go anywhere else since. Since It's a family-owned business, you get personal service, and they value you as a customer (unlike the big chain stores), and they remember who you are. They helped design my wife's engagement ring (OK, they designed, I approved), and she is absolutely thrilled with it. She constantly gets compliments on it, and I get a few "attaboys" as well. more

It is more beautiful than I could have possibly fathomed and I have gotten constant compliments from family, friends and co-workers. In today's world of big box retailers, it is a pleasure to do business with a local business like Krombholz Jewelers. They can offer any jewelry item you can find anywhere else, at competitive prices, but their service orientation and knowledge really set them apart. I have a pretty limited budget for jewelry, but on the several occasions I've purchased from them, the team there has made me feel as welcome as if I was spending millions! Beautiful wrapping, complimentary beverages, a relaxed and comfortable setting - all make for a very pleasurable experience. Their custom design work is impressive as well, and definately makes Krombholz unique in our area. My husband had a piece created for me -- again, with a pretty limited budget - and they offered great ideas and produced a bracelet I'll treasure always. It is clear when you visit Krombholz that the staff loves what they do and has been doing it for a very long time. What a treat to find a store where the lines aren't long and the clerks aren't disinterested! Although they are tucked away on a back street in downtown Montgomery, they really aren't hard to find and definately worth the trip. Being raised out in the country, milking cows and bailing hay ,etc. was a life experience that taught a young man responsibility and self reliance. It did not however teach you about the finer things in life. Life has been good to me . Elli, Brad, and Lee have helped me express my love to family, congratulate friends, and even knock the edges off an ole country boy! I may not have the best taste in the world, but they sure help me fool everyone else into believing I do. I tell them my goal and they show me ideas. I think we make a real good team.
