The waitress was cute and pleasant enough. She made small talk and was a pleasure to have. She did forget to wipe the table when asked though, as it was sticky.
I ordered some sushi, which was just great. I did not like the crab paste in the roll, but the tuna sashimi was fresh, very lean and just perfect.
The problem here is the cook. My brother ordered the grilled salmon, for one, and it was grilled then deep fried. The waitress agreed. What he was left with was a dry piece of salmon jerky.
The tempura was undercooked, as you could tell by looking at it. It was just too light. When you held it up, it fell limp.
The sushi was small, but not bad if you got the special, as it was the best deal considering the size of the fish vs the cost of the platter.
The tonkatsu was listed on the menu as a breaded cutlet, which is what it is suppose to be. However, it was more like pork hamburger patties breaded and then deep fried. Not bad if you like meat consistent to baby food. However, we were expecting an actual piece of meat, a real cutlet.
I loved the domburi sauce on my tempura domburi.
They were more than eager to substitute the zucchini in the tempura for another onion piece, as with the seafood tempura platter, they were happy to sub the squid for another piece of salmon. It was just under done, and left in a warmer until it was room temperature (at best) and cold.
The special sushi roll I got was pre-made, as you could tell by the refrigerator cold rice, which was milky white on the outside and clear on the inside, typical of refrigerator rice.
Tara the waitress was cute and sweet and tried to please. We left her a good tip.
The tea was cold, and when we asked for a refill, the guy forgot to fill everyone's cup. We asked for a kettle of tea, which is normal in traditional japanese restaurants, but were told that they had only one teapot in the entire restaurant because an ex-employee broke all the others.
However, Tara ended up bringing us our very own kettle. I guess the boy knew not what he was talking about.
Tara = good.
Boy waiter = mediocre.
Girl cook = terrible.
Food = good.
Price = rather high for what you got and the quality it was served. Except the sushi fish, which was great!
Pros: The waitress.
Cons: The cook.,
