Very Impressive Seattle Bus Service 9/2/2017

We have just returned from 8 days in Seattle and relied upon public transportation from the time we arrived at the airport until we returned to the airport. We mostly took the Rapid E line from 46th Street to downtown and return and have to say this service was the greatest! Over the years we have visited many cities in many countries and the Seattle buses are the best! Other buses we took were number 10 and 44 and these routes also were terrific. But the Rapid line was especially impressive - a great way to travel downtown without the hassle of traffic line-ups. Thank you Seattle! more

Metro #41 in the A.M. 9/22/2006

I just wanted to say that the #41 is awesome. Recently, i switched jobs and have been commuting downtown for the first time ever. Since i have to walk the dogs every morning...which of course puts me behind in getting to the busstop (yes, blaming the dogs:) , I'm always just barely to the transit centre on time. The bus driver with the beard & accent (sorry didn't catch a name) that arrives not too long before 8am is great! I've driven at my previous job so much that, even when not driving i can't help but feel a little like a back seat driver and am always watching how the drivers make their way thru heavy I-5 traffic. A big pat on the back to this awesome driver (who though jerky...(ie. brakes some vs. mean) every once in a while due to heavy traffic) always knows how to cut into the free-est lane, merge at the most efficient part of the downtown exiting lanes, and drives fast!! Thank goodness! This guy and the fact that the bus comes so often has been a life (or, at least job!) saver! ; ) more

Convenient and on Time 4/8/2006

I like Seattle metro and I take bus to go to school everyday. Buses in Seattle is convenient. It goes everywhere. It is especially good to take a bus to go to school or go to work. Most of the time, buses are on time, only one to two minutes different than what's on the schedule. But at peak hour in the afternoon, buses coming from downtown are unreliable as to time. It may be late for more than 20 minutes. As compared to the price of gas that goes up day by day, bus fare stays stable and low. $1.25 per 2 hour ride and $1.5 for peak hour. There are special rate for bus fares if you buy a prepaid card. more

Kudos to Metro! 10/7/2005

When I was forced to start taking the bus I was feeling sorry for myself - thought I'd hit an all time low. Now that I've been a customer for several months I am actually enjoying it. The low fees sure beat paying high gas prices, and most of the bus drivers are really helpful and polite. Sometimes you get free floor shows when people act like human beings! I don't like riding home too late at night, but they will actually stop closer to your place if you ask them to. And for those who aren't very mobile, they have all kinds of contraptions to let you on and off carefully and safely. I wish I'd known that after my car accident. Remember, riding the bus is like being on a boat, keep one hand on the vehicle at all times! :-) more

Good Way to Get Around 8/17/2005

Seattle’s Metro bus system provides efficient connections throughout the Puget Sound area. Metro buses run 6 a.m.-1 a.m. every day, about every 30 minutes on the city routes. Customer service offices are at 821 2nd Ave. and in the Westlake Station. Fares cost $1.25 off-peak, $1.50 peak within the city; or $1.25 off-peak and $2 peak if you ride through two zones (beyond Seattle city limits). For $2.50 on weekends, you can purchase a pass that gives you unlimited rides on Metro buses and the streetcars; get them from the bus driver when you board. Call 206-553-3000 or 800-542-7876 for route information and other details. All Metro buses carry bikes at no extra charge, but bikes are not carried within the Ride Free area of downtown. more
