nice atmosphere, food, not so much 10/18/2007

Yuck! I won a gift certificate for this restaurant, and still felt ripped off.First of all, we were the only people at the restaurant who weren't sitting at the bar, which made us feel out of place. My boyfriend and I both ordered "bowls". I got teriyaki chicken, and he got some other kind of chicken. The chicken was too sweet with not much else to say about the flavor. I couldn't finish the bowl. I ended up taking half of it home to a hungry roommate. My boyfriend was not pleased with his meal either. This is a nice place to go for drinks, or to meet friends, but I wouldn't recommend eating there. more

A bit pricey 6/28/2007

The "bowls" are a strange concept & the combinations just dont work well together. However their beef quesadilla is good, but it is 10 bucks. Their guamole is fantastic & fresh. more

Good lunch value 7/20/2006

Lunch for 2: Summer Lo Mein Salad - great flavor and mixture of cucumber, chicken, noodles, etc. Chicken sandwich - great sauce. Prompt service. Good value for a "sit down" lunch. Pros: broad range of lunch choices Cons: atmosphere is probably better at night more

An excellent choice for our Anniversary 3/19/2006

We looked through a local dining guide to pick a place to dine out for our anniversary, and this was the only one we could agree on (sounds like a marriage, doesn't it!). Turned out to be an excellent choice. In the early evening, the crowd was very small and we got great service. The owner's son bought us dessert and the food was great. Many of the entrees are 'bowls' that you choose the components of. I had a Salmon Bowl with pasta, the fish was not a large piece but it was cooked perfectly and with good seasoning. With a couple of drinks and a well-earned tip, the price was very reasonable and a great value. I tried the shrimo cocktail on a later visit and highly recommend it also. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: Can't think of any! more

Secret Treasure 7/20/2005

I stumbled upon Kazu at a spur of the moment business lunch. I didn't expect to find a restaurant with such a beautiful but laid-back environment. The food was great (I had a Salmon Bowl), the service was exceptional (quick & friendly), and the atmosphere was refreshingly modern without feeling cold. I have been back five more times since my first encounter two months ago and each time I walk away with a smile on my face. Hats off to Kaz and his dad, Kazu, who makes each individual morsel with love and passion for his skill. Every item on the menu tastes like it should be featured on the front page of a world-renowned culinary magazine. Pros: Spicy Long Legs, Exceptional Staff, Prompt Seating Cons: Nothing Yet more

bowl me over 7/19/2005

Interesting mixture on the menu of "regular" food and asian and/or fusion food. They "regular" fare - like the sandwiches - are fine but nothing special. Their "bowl" dishes (especially the Korean beef) are GREAT. The shrimp cocktail is fabulous - they've been marinated in some kind of delicious sauce. (maybe cilantro lime?). Pros: kaz & staff, couch in front rm Cons: bar can get smoky more

Intimate date spot 5/5/2005

Good place to gaze deeply into each other's eyes. The urban sophisticate will love the feel of this place. Wait staff was great. It's fusion, YEAH, but the menu only had 2 choices, which was a poor choice on mgt's part. Had the fish; good not spectacular, but good enough that I think the chef is restraining himself for some reason. Dessert needs some ooo's & aah's tweaking. Spent about $55.00 and my date had a martini too. Reasonable. My date hates most chain restaurants and he told me I'd "done good" choosing Kazu. Will return. Pros: Intimate; not cramped, Not crowded, Entrees Cons: Narrow menu more

  • In Short
Situated in the corner of the Cummins Station building, this Mexican-Asian-American fusion restaurant augments its contemporary decor of modern art and furniture, soothing brown walls and lots of natural light with intensely flavorful, eye-popping dishes. Highlights from the short and sweet menu include a noticeably lean hamburger, chunky chicken quesadillas and gourmet salads, which feature candied nuts, fresh fruit and cheeses. The specialty of the house is a tasty ginger-tinged teriyaki sauce.
