In response to Jim K. The payment in question was never refunded. \r \r Respect and politeness for all? OK. My three year old was sent off the mat to watch the class after being asked if he wanted to use his brain because he was not quite understanding the direction that the instructor was giving. Not knowing what a brain was, he took a guess and said ""No"". I will leave it at that and not go into the insanity that insued after that. \r \r I will say this though...there is little or not respect what-so-ever for parents and their ability to raise their children without the help of the school. All I heard was how keeping my son in that school would make me a proud parent and how they would mold him into an amazing person. HELLO! My husband and I can, will and are raising my son just fine and we will be proud of who he becomes due to our influence. I wasn't looking for someone to raise my child or tell me how to raise my child.\r \r As far as the ""book"" goes, we were forced to buy it and quite frankly, I had a very hard time gettig through any of it considering it is mostly written in all caps and as a professional, I am a little offended by that since in a professional setting, all caps is interpreted as yelling.\r \r Look, my original post was not meant to insult the school. It was meant to let others who know nothing about martial arts know a little more before joining. And yes, it is cultish in that the first thing that is done in most cults is to change a person's name. Also, in a cult, there is a figurehead who can do no wrong and no one questions and all follow blindly without coming to their own opinions on all subjects. That is what I experienced and saw. So yea...sorry, but that is the impression I left with. My opinion....my right to give. more

Regarding Tammy S. comments... even though she was not entitled to a refund, out of kindness and courtesy, the payment in question was refunded to her. There is structure, discipline, respect and politeness for all... to even use the word cult in reference to the Kang Do Won is absurd. All new enrollees receive a book containing a new student orientation which outlines all school rules, regulations, policies, activities and fees. It is stated in the training agreement, which is signed by the parent/student at enrollment, that it is mandatory that this orientation is to be read before the student participates in his/her first formal class. This affords them the option to withdraw from enrollment if what they read is not to their liking. Some people just cannot be pleased, no matter how fair and honorable you may be. more
