Expansive price, average food 1/30/2008

One time we go there with party of four. First of all, very hard to find parking, way too many restaurants in that small center. Then there service is really bad and menu is boring, nothing looks good. But since we are here, so we want to try the sushi, each of us to order a drink, then appetizers, rolls and others. The bill end up with over $200 before tips. I swear, we are not a big eater and not order too much of food. That's a rip off, how they charge up over 200 dollars. There food is very average and small portion. This place is not for average working people to go. For me, I would not go back there again, I rather go other place with better price an food. Pros: nothing Cons: everything else more

One of The Best Asian Cuisines In The Area! 12/29/2007

My family and I frequent John Holly's on regular basis. I have traveled all over the world and spent many years in Asia and would recommend this restaurant to any one. The food is fresh and the presentation is excellent. The staff is always friendly and helpful. more

No Kidding, Worst in Town!!! 12/23/2007

This is the worst restaurant ever, low class menu and food just like Ho-Ho(one dollar a scoop) but pay 10 time more. I would not go dine out if this the only restaurant in town, so why go there, there is plenty of other choice. Pros: location Cons: parking, food and service more

John holly's rocks! 12/17/2007

John Holly?s is the place to eat sushi in the Lonetree/Englewood area, it?s close to home, the people are friendly, and the food is outstanding! I recommend John holly?s to the hip, fun and energetic type! more

Outstanding everything 12/13/2007

Sometimes in life, predictability is a very good thing. This is one of them. My family has been eating here for a couple years now and we?ve yet to have a meal anywhere below excellent and have not experienced service like this except for at a select few ultra high end restaurants/hotels. Michael and his staff do a wonderful job ? and we thank you. Always great food, always fresh! Please open more restaurants? the south end of town needs more like you. Pros: Food, Service, atmosphere (bustling atmosphere, hip for the 'burbs) Cons: Still looking for one more

Great experience (and creative sushi) at a small but friendly sushi bar in Lone Tree 11/19/2007

Living at the southern fringe of greater Denver civilization, you don't get too many good restaurants, and especially don't expect great sushi. But John Holly's is a great bistro to stop at late in the evening for some wonderfully creative and fresh sushi and sashima. Sitting at the sushi bar with a spouse or date is great fun, as the chefs crerate a constant stream of interesting sushi and are quite friendly, always trying to share a new taste or creation. We stop there after a movie, and it is a wonderful way to end an evening with some fine food and a great ambience. If you haven't tried sitting at a sushi bar late in the evening, try it at John Holly's. Pros: Creative sushi/sashimi and great ambience at the sushi bar Cons: The rest of the food is more average more

Bad food but good price 11/18/2007

This restaurant is average compare to all asian restaurant, their menu is very limited for both chinese and sushi, this place is always busy and noisy, not very romantic for dating couple. Their sushi roll has a very terrible taste, the price is reasonable in park meadow. If you want good sushi, you should go Pan Asia instead, they have better menu and service, atmosphere is much nicer. They also serving Dim sum on the weekend! Pros: nothing right now Cons: the food taste very bad more

Excellent! 7/15/2007

This restaurant is amazing! The food is really good and the service is great! I would highly reccomend the John Holly's chicken or the lettuce wraps. The lunches are of really great value! more

Great Restaurant!! 4/24/2007

This is one my favorite restaurants. You have to try to lettuce wraps, Yushan Chicken, and blue fin tuna. I love the atmosphere for both dinner and lunch (and you have to check out their very affordable lunch menu). The owner/mangers always treat you with the utmost respect and make you feel like a good friend. I would recommend this to anyone. And the atomosphere fits all occasions! more

Great Chinese Food 4/4/2007

Went there to eat on a Tuesday night, ambiance is incredible. Service in great! The only problem is the sushi. Its terrible! I had the Rising sun roll, and a Philly roll which were terrible. I also had a spicy tuna roll and a spicy salmon roll which were good, but should be. On a brighter note, we had the crispy sea bass in a ginger sauce which was to die for!!! Looking around at the other dishes that were being carried out, i would recommend to definitely eat the main dishes here and to stay away from the sushi. The owner / manager also came up to us and gave us a free appetizer just because he noticed we were first time customers. Pros: Service! Value! Cons: Sushi more

Best sushi in Denver, period... 2/12/2007

Hands down the freshest and best tasting sushi in Denver. I've eaten at all the ""best"" sushi joints in town and this beats them all. Their rolls are the most creative and flavorful in Denver. Pros: Freshness of ingredients, reasonable prices Cons: None! more

Creative, extremely fresh sushi and our favorite all-round Asian food 1/20/2007

We love this place--favorite for birthdays and out of town guests. It's one of the only places I know that equally pleases people who like sushi, hot/spicy, or the sweet & bland dishes. Our 4 person offiec called it our ""corporate dining room"" because we would go at least once a month for working staff meetings. more

Bad Service! 12/28/2006

One time I went over there with my friends on Firday night it was so crowded and I sit there like about 1 hour waiting and they said it would be ready by 15 min and it was so loud I can't even talk to my friends and the food are very bad! more

Best Sushi and Asain Cuisine 12/1/2006

I have been to John Holly's probably fifteen times since discovering it a couple years ago and have never had a bad experience. This is my favorite restuarant in Denver when I don't want to drop a couple hundred dollars on a good meal and some wine. The they have a wide variety of sushi with some very creative roll choices that change frequently, the entrees are all excellent (between my dates and I we've probably tried at least half the menu), the wine list is broad enough for most and not too pricey, and the service is always excellent. Make reservations b/c it gets crowded on the weekends and the bar area is small. Pros: Excellent Sushi, Food, and Service Cons: Small bar to wait on crowded nights more

Convenient location 11/13/2006

This restaurant is nice that it's close to Park Meadows and to the movie theater. The food is okay, sometimes the chicken is a bit too fried. Service is usually friendly and there is tons of parking. There's usually a long wait on Friday nights, it seems. The sushi rolls are pretty good. They don't appear to serve coffee however. more

Sushi 9/26/2006

John Holly's has a new restuarant at Downing and Yale I believe, I have fallen in love with this place, the staff is fantastic, and the food is totally awesome. Pros: Everything is great Cons: Could be more parking more

Food is okay, people are dishonest 9/21/2006

Their food is good, but so are Jade Garden and PF Changs, both of which are as close to my house. I cannot rate any higher because they refused to honor a coupon I presented for a take out order. They claimed it was only good for dine-in, but it does not state that exception anywhere on the paper. Too bad when the ""bait and switch"" is used for a restaurant. more

SNOBBY Staff and Owners... and guess what, they won't take reservation for parties under 5 on Friday and Saturday? And the wait is HORRIBLE! 9/15/2006

So why wont they take resrvations for parties under 5? I do not get it... I called to make reservations for 2. They told me no reservations for parties under 5. I said I made reservations there before for just 2, on a Saturday night, they said I am not allowed to take a reservation for parties under 5 for Friday or Saturday night. So against my better judgement I went to the restaurant, got there around 7, they told me 15 minute wait. 45 minutes later I was still waiting. Parties of 5 or more were taking tables. So I say, I do not like your policy and I will NOT visit your restaurant again, even when I am a party of 5 or more, or during a week night. See, I am very local to this restaurant, I used to go there 2-3 times per week for lunch and dinner with clients. Now on a Friday and Saturday night when my wife and I want to go out, you want to treat us like we are second class citizens because we are less than a party of 5, I say to you that there are way too many restaurants in this town, and near this restaurant for me to be treated like I dont belong. Pros: Location Cons: Parking, Wait Staff, Lack of reservations more

food was OK, atmosphere was horrible 8/25/2006

Restaurant hell has a name and it is John Hollys. This was absolutely one of the worse dining experiences ever. After being told 15 minutes for a table and waiting 45, we were seated on a patio next to two loud drunken parties. On two occassions we asked to move anywhere and completely ignored. If being able to talk to your fellow diners is important, John Hollys is not for you. We will NEVER go back Pros: food was OK Cons: Being ignored by staff when there was an obvious problem more

Excellent - don't skip this 2/10/2005

This is a great little place that looks upscale but treats you down home. The staff is exceedingly friendly and the menu is interestin and diverse, serving sushi, chinese and japanese dishes. If you want Asian but can't decide what or have different tastes in your party this is a great option. Highly recommend! Pros: variety, friendly, service more
