Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts

A day ago, this Sunday, I went to Jo-anns to get some fabric for a dress. I am a regular customer at Jo-anns (in Federal Way, Washington).I usually like to take the fabric out from the shelf, and see how it looks first, and then take it to the counter in order to get it cut. This Sunday, I had to make a lot of choices because i wanted to get a lot of material. \r As usual, I went up to the counter to get the fabric cut, and while I was waiting for my order, the lady behind the counter went to the lane I was in, and starting yelling out loud, ""I AM JUST LOOKING AT ALL OF THIS!!"" And when I ran to help her, she said, ""NO, IN OUR COUNTRY......(scary silence)......WE DO NOT DO THIS!!""......her name was ""Dee Lord"" (So much for religion and humanity...)\r Please note that this is not the first time I have noticed this behavior, I have also talked to the manager, and she does not seem to care. She just says,""I am sorry, is that what you want to hear?' \r Goodness, these people are completely indifferent.\r I seriously don't know if I will want to get fabric from this store after this experience; it was downright humiliating, and uncalled for. more

I absolutely love this place. It is always well stocked and well organized. The staff here are friendly and helpful and they know every inch of the store. They can help you find whatever random item you need. Also if you need help or advice on a certain project, they can help you with that as well. The store itself is pretty big. The store carries a lot of variety and has a wide range in terms of quality and price. Often, when I check out, the cashier will remind me that my items need coupons for a sale. How nice! This store, of course, if full of neat and interesting stuff. I would not give it one star simply because the aisles are so narrow two carts can't pass. In fact, it's difficult for one cart to pass one person. \r So, why one star?\r I had foot surgery and was on crutches. I hobble into the store, all I needed was a couple of those 12x12 pages for a scrapbook. I didn't want to wrinkle the pages so I stop to pick up a bag so I could carry them. Remember, I'm on crutches. The clerk says I can't have a bag. I can have a shopping cart or one of those carry baskets - but no bag. I ask why and show her that I can't use a shopping cart or carry a basket. She says it's company policy. PERIOD. I'm irked and ask for the manager. The manager offers me a wheelchair and says just this one time I can use a bag, but first she must turn it inside out so I won't steal anything. Outstanding staff. Very satisfied with the entire store and personnel. Staff at times help and provide correct answers. Especially, Mary in the "warehouse" (or receiving and distribution area, don't know the appropriate title). I have nothing but wonderful things to say about each(presently) staff member. \r However, the building temperature is tooooooo hot!!! more

This place has the best of everything you could need in fabric, yarn, beads, and holiday decorations. The staff really knows what they are doing and are willing to help you with anything you need. It is easy to find what you are looking for and they have things that you can not find anywhere else. more

When making my puppy her own bed I visited Jo Ann and found everything I needed plus more. The prices were very fair and the sales people were very helpful with any questions I might have had. I will go back time and time again. more

A good fabric store is hard to find, as sewing is a dieing art. This store has an excellent selection of patterns, and some good fabrics, although they often dont have everything needed. The notion selection is excellent as well. And if you knit, its one of the few places where you can buy reasonably priced yarn. The craft selection is great. more
