We used Jackie for our wedding back in 2004. We received our proofs in a timely fashion, but to date we have not received our album even though we put a substantial down payment on it. She refuses to answer our calls and emails. We are in the process of turning the matter over to our attorney. Do Not Use her. more

Jackie Van Ly is completely unreliable. We met with her and discussed hiring her for our wedding. She was enthusiastic and professional at first. However, as we asked for references and had follow up questions prior to signing our contract, she stopped returning our calls despite telling us that she would definitely photograph our wedding. We asked her if she was sure that she wanted the job and she told us that the contract was not important to her and that she was completely committed. She said that she wanted the job and that we did not need to worry about signing the contract. We felt uneasy not having a signed contract as we got closer to our wedding, but every time we called her she did not answer her phone and she stopped returning emails. We got the feeling she was avoiding our calls so we tried using a different phone and she answered and repeated for us not to worry! At this point we were worried. We ended up going back to one of the previous photographers that we were considering and fortunately they were still available. Jackie ultimately never sent the contract or called us back despite telling us that she was just busy and would send the contract soon and had reserved the day for our event. Our wedding came and went with no word from Jackie. Now we are actually thankful that she never sent the contract because if we had signed with her who knows if she would have showed up to the wedding or if we'd ever see our photos. Don't waste your time with her. She's completely unreliable and flaky. Don't trust your important event to someone that doesn't care and is completely unprofessional. more

This photographer is very good. She is great for weddings and other special occasions such as family reunions, retirement parties, birthday parties, and holiday parties. Her style is very unique and somewhat photo journalistic. She is very conscientious and professional and has a great eye. She really takes the time to understand your particular preferences and dislikes. She is also very helpful in terms of suggesting certain types of photos.
