The best in L.A. and perhaps the US 12/12/2003

I've traveled all over the United States sampling BBQ and was thrilled to finally find JR's. Their ribs, brisket, chicken and turkey rival Stubb's in San Antonio and everywhere else I've tried. The meat is expertly smoked and their sauce choices - mild, medium and hot are spectacular. The medium produces a bit of sweat. The BBQ beans are full of pork and have a spectacular taste. The Mac&Cheese ain't bad either. The lemonade and Arnold Palmer's keep coming as do the excellent homeade deserts and family hospitality. Colleagues from around the world are treated to the JR's experience whenever they visit. It's affordable and highly recommended! Pros: wonderful BBQ, fantastic beans, seven-up cake! Cons: You'll waddle out more

Charming 11/5/2003

I stopped in with a friend for a meal after the lunch rush. The food was great. You can't find barbecue like this just anywhere. Our waitress was more than friendly. My date and I were quite pleased. I am sure that I will return. Pros: inexpensive, good parking, friendly staff Cons: few free side choices more

Great Place For A Relaxed Meal 6/19/2003

If you're looking for a trendy place or somewhere that gets you in and out in under an hour, then forget JR's. But if you're ready for a relaxed meal with great BBQ food, then give it a try. I love the BBQ pork sandwich (medium spicy), the 7-Up cake, and an Arnold Palmer to drink. Yummy! Pros: Good Home Cooking, Good Value, Tasty Cons: Slow Service, Too Small more

Give the food a shot! 2/17/2003

I must say that the location was not very visible. I drove past the restaurant several times before I noticed it, while sitting at a stop light. The food was very I thought. I did find the prices to be a dollar or two too high, however the taste did somewhat compensate for that. The carry out service is VERY slow and I attempted to call my order in, but a lady (who I later found out to be the owner), was very rude for no apparent reason. Not worth a drive 10/23/2002

I heard about J R BBQ in the newspaper and wanted to try it.Finally did.Nothing special .I've had alot better much better,If you're in the area ok but not worth a drive.we ordered to go sevice is very slow.I wouldn't go again more
