Very Disapointed 7/30/2009

We went in to try this for the first time and they had a special which they gave us extra scoop because of an anniversary or something. I was shocked to see how little I got for $5. We had the ""sampler"" and did not think much of any of he flavors my friend chose. They all seems too sweet, and I could not taste much if any ice cream, just flavoring. Like candy.. I much prefer Ben and Jerry's, Sebastian Joe's, or even just grocery store ice cream. I will not be going back to Izzy's Pros: Local Cons: Product more

Just alright ice cream 4/7/2008

The fact that it's local and green makes me want to support it. Having said that, we went there for a treat, but I guess our expectations were much too high as we were disappointed with what we got. My boyfriends ice cream was a bit icy. The flavors weren't amazing. It was alright. I like the great little extra scoop they put on top. It was also a bit expensive we felt. I might go there again just to support a local green business and now I know what to expect. more

sure, it's kinda pricey, but 8/26/2007

the ice cream is fabulous- such unique and wide ranging flavors... and it's locally owned and operated... and they are a 'green' company. so worth it for a 'special treat.' my fav is the mini five scoop bowl so i can try varieties :) Pros: yummmmy, locally owned and operated Cons: somewhat expensive more

Best ice cream in the metro area!! 4/13/2007

Great ice cream, lots of flavors, and nice quiet environment. Not to mention the fact that they're environmentally friendly, too, by using solar panels for the source of their electricity. Pros: Everything about the ice cream Cons: street parking more

Good but pricey 3/25/2007

Ice cream was good, but not quite as rich as Grand Ole Creamery...They have some interesting flavors but not a lot with chocolate in it (could have just been right when we were there). Our main complaint is the price of the ice cream...$5.75 for a sundae which barely had any hot fudge on it. Almost $4 for a single scoop! The ""izzy"" scoop is a cute idea. Not a lot of tables outside to sit at. Pros: izzy scoop, ice cream Cons: tables, price, parking more

Best ice cream in the Twin Cities 10/13/2006

Can be crowded at times, but Izzy's is the place to be. Love the ice cream, smells great, convenient location, and friendly service. Pros: Food, service, location Cons: Crowded more

I crave Izzy's icecream. 7/6/2006

Izzy's has the best icecream I have found in the Twin Cities. It is only six blocks from where I live, so it is the perfect summer activity to walk to Izzy's and back with a group of friends. My personal favorite flavors are Norwegian Chai and Mexican Chocolate Fiesta. The menu varies, so they don't always have my favorites, but I always find something delicious. The lines can get long some times, but the workers are trained for speedy service. I love that Izzy's works with other local businesses. They use ingredients from the neighboring coffee shop in their Fine Grind icecream. Issy's icecream is featured at places like 128 Cafe down the street. Oh yes, the Izzy really is the icing on the cake of this icecream shop. Pros: Delicious icecream, original flavors, locally owned Cons: long lines, can be pricey more

Soy Ice Cream 6/17/2004

Not only does Izzy's have great regular ice creams, they also have at least two flavors of Soy Ice Cream available to scoop or pre-packed. They have figured out the formula for an exceptional Soy Ice Cream. Pros: Soy Ice Cream, On Street Parking, Smart Staff more

Yummy in da Tummy 8/15/2002

Go! It's good! Good quality ice cream. I like the izzy. Go and be happy. more

The izzy scoop makes the cone! 8/14/2002

Izzy's is becoming the most popular ice cream place in town! Who wouldn't want to visit? Their homemade ice cream is the BEST around! Whenever I am there, I always hear customers telling the employees how wonderful their ice cream is. Plus, who can resist the wonderful smell of waffle cones when you walk in the door? Once you have an Izzy's ice cream cone, you'll be hooked!!! I know I am! Pros: clean, friendly, good smelling! more

best American 8/8/2002

This is the best American-style ice cream I have tasted Pros: taste more

Pass Grand Old Creamery and go to Izzy's 7/31/2002

2 reasons you'll enjoy Izzy's more than Grand Old: 1. Shorter Line 2. Creamier ice cream No line down the sidewalk to eat at Izzy's. The ice cream doesn't have the watery quality I've noticed with some flavors at Grand. And the best part: The Izzy!!!! You can always try an exotic new flavor when you enjoy your personal favorite. Pros: fast, creamy, The Izzy Cons: not much seating, a little pricey more

Izzys ISNT that great 7/20/2002

Izzy's made some of the worst tasting waffle cones ive ever had. The flavor selection is limited, My ice cream was half melted when i got it, The extra flavor they gave you ruins the taste of the of the one you order. This place seems like a grand ole creamery wannabe. Pros: none, none, none Cons: slow, limited seating, Bad ice cream more

The joy of the Izzy 7/13/2002

The conceit of the Izzy, a mini scoop that tops your order, is beyond clever. Perhaps you feel like experimenting, but don't want to commit to a full scoop. Get a single vanilla with an Izzy of dark chocolate zin. Feel calorie conscious? Get an Izzy in a cup. Just can't decide? Izzy to the rescue. Also don't miss the Izzy pop, an Izzy on a stick coated in luscious dark chocolate. The staff is friendly and helpful and isn't stingy with requests to taste, which you'll want to do because there are so many delicious, creative options in addition to the very well-exectuted standards. more

better than sebastian joe's! 6/17/2002

what a fabulous place! we came for a treat with our two boys (both under three). it was a perfect summer night, so they were fairly busy. but the service was fast and the ice cream was so, so good!! i loved that you can get a seperate little zzy cone for only a dollar -- the perfect size for our little one! the staff was so helpful. one person (the owner or manager it seemed??) carried out a high chair for us when he saw us struggling with the kids & cones, and when the outside tables were full, got several extra chairs for us (including a child-sized one which our older boy just loved!!). we look forward to having an izzy's on our side of the river (opening on nicollet mall soon!!) and will be back often. Pros: great ice cream!, kid-friendly! more
