Best

Hard to believe Seattle's best traditional sushi restaurant is in a strip mall in Totem Lake! But it's true! Izumi is a gem. Absolutely everything on the menu is prepared beautifu...

Worst

My girlfriend wanted to get some Japanese food for dinner a few days ago, so we went to Lzumi. Food was okay...but, it wasn't what I expected with the money I paid for.. However, ...

Pricey 2/11/2009

The food tasted okay, not the greatest. I had a chirashi, didn't taste too fresh. For the quality, I don't know if I'd pay that high of a price tag. Though everything is relatively, there aren't many that great Japanese restaurants in Seattle area, so perhaps I can see why this one would be higher rated than others. more

Love the chirashi 7/22/2008

I love the chirashi dinner combo at Izumi - fair sized portions with of variety. Sashimi is relatively fresh too, especially compared to the rest of the choices on the east side. more

Great Fresh Sushi 4/10/2007

I've had some of the best Sushi here. Pieces of fish are very fresh and large. Menu prices are slightly higher than what you would find at other places - but the better quality makes it worth it. This place makes you realize that other sushi restaurants may be using fish that's been previously frozen. I've also tried their combos - but the Teriyaki Chicken was not that great. So I stick to Sushi when coming here. The older Japanese lady servers may be slower that what you're used to, but add charm to the dining experience. more

Authentic Japanese Food 10/22/2006

Family-style authentic Japanese Restaurant. Exactly what we are looking for in a restaurant. Nothing fancy, just real good food. 'Had the dinner special salmon teriyaki and shrimp tempura. Teriyaki sauce was light and tasty not overly sweet. Tempura was flaky and the veggies were all good. Miso soup, sunomono and salad were equally excellent. Awesome service! 'Have not tried the sushi but from what I saw at the sushi bar, they looked tasty. A little pricey but totally worth it. Will add to our favorite restaurant list. more

A GREAT place for sushi 9/15/2006

I couldn't stop laughing when someone told me that I could find some of the best sushi in the Seattle area in the Totem Lake strip mall in Kirkland. But I'm so glad that I listened to them. I've been to most of the sushi places on the Eastside and several great places in downtown Seattle. And now I can also say (with a straight face) that you'll find some damn good sushi in the Totem Lake strip mall! It's not cheap, but it's worth it. I would suggest going down for lunch and trying one of their specials (which will probably be less expensive) and once you've had that, you won't mind paying more next time! more

lots of special seasonal sushi 8/16/2005

This place has a special sushi menu if you ask (the listing is NOT in the usual dinner menu). The items are fresh and seasonal, usually hard to find elsewhere. For example, they have live uni (sea urchin) in mid winter. They also tend to have different varieties of white fish. Ambience is cozy. Food is of good value. more

the place is nothing fancy, but the food is GREAT 8/5/2005

Do a serch in Google for "Izumi, Kirkland, Wa" and you will see lots of people agree with me. It's really a low key place, the menu does not have fancy names or presentation either, but the taste and freshness is top of the line. more
