Pizza & Subs -- #1 in Arlington 6/20/2010

If you are searching for a a Pizza or Sub -- the Italian Store will not disappoint you. Its best to call in your order to save some time. The employees are exceptional in every respect and they take the time to make a great product. My favorite sub is the Milano; favorite Pizza is Meatball -- all toppings are fresh and very tasty. more

I read these reviews above and just HAD to go check it out. So I went there today, around 3PM. The place was packed with customers,a few(rude) employees and below average pizza. I had to try this legendary pie, so I made my way to the counter where they had 3 slice-style pies ready to go. One slice is $2.75. I bought my slice and went outside. I've HONESTly had better pizza in 7-eleven, airports, interstate rest-stops, cafeterias and elementary school lunchrooms. Keep your money and go elsewhere. Yawn. This is NOT a flame. Im not a competitor or disgruntled former employee. The pizza was just really delivery quality at best. more

... I'm surprised Post is recommending the pizza. I had it once and it was so greasy it was inedible, not at all like good pizza I've had in NYC. Still, the sandwiches are tops and you can find rare things like bucatini pasta. more

Editorial review from washingtonpost.com 2/9/2006

With several types of pizza sold by the slice, piping hot pies available for pick-up and bags of floury dough in the back for those who want to try their hands at the sumptuous pizzas at home, this popular destination fulfills most pizza-related needs with some of the finest specialty Italian goods in the area. The simple cheese pizza has the perfect ratio of cheese and tangy tomato sauce to forgiving dough, while the white pizza is redolent of garlic. The Italian Store also caters to non-pizza needs with sandwiches, a deli case of pasta salads and olives and a small market area. The market sells fresh mozzarella, select wines, Italian delicacies, refrigerated pastas and sauce and other treats. The authentic hoagie-style sandwiches and slices of pizza make it a prime and popular takeout destination, so be prepared for long lines during lunch hours. --Erin Hartigan (February 10, 2006) more
