Convenient location, very clean rooms 11/9/2011

This hotel was perfect for a quick stay to visit our daughter in Austin. The location was central enough to get around easily, and the staff and service were very friendly, the concierge went out of his way to provide restaurant recommendations, etc. for us. Our room was just what we have come to expect from an Intercontinental hotel. We would stay here again. Pros: null Cons: null more

Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel 11/17/2010

Been back and forth on phone calls for two months trying to get a Smoking charge off of my room charge. It looks like if you use a 3rd party booking company(Price Line) they figure out a way to get there full amount for there rooms, one way or another. $275 charge for smelling smoke. Don't and didnt smoke in room. And parking got me for $28 pickups cost more to park... Gary more

one "Expensive Experience" 7/8/2009

the valet drivers were friendly and helpful. Basically I booked with Hotwire at $89.00 for one night after I booked the amount charged was $108.00. Then looking at the hotels website it stated that valet parking was $25.00. Overnight I got a bill under the door for $27.06. While there I did not use room service, anything other than the room. After I got home the hotel charged my credit card $80.00?!? for what????? I will never use hotwire or this hotel again and I will tell anyone who will listen what I experienced. Buyer BEWARE. Stephen Fs bar 4/22/2009

This page seems to be for the hotel which is beautiful (I love historic buildings) but I only ever walk through it to get to the bar which is really the crown jewel. The inside is very comfortable but the real attraction for me is the terrace. There are tons of tables and an amazing view of the capital building about 7 blocks away. It is like drinking in a postcard. And the drinks are good too. My server Liz was very attentive and funny too. I never had to wait too long for a refill and it always came with a smile. I had a great time and may have found my new summer home away from home. more

Cigars and Scotch, Wines and Cheeses 11/29/2008

I had a great time at the Stephen F's! They have recently updated thier menu with a huge Cigar complimented with an unmatched selection of Scotch. On top of that, they also started a new Cheese Flight menu with the most diverse cheese selections I have seen in Austin. more

One of the best hotels, not only in Austin, but anywhere in the world. World class service from the curb to your room. Food in the restaurant is excellent. Bar is well stocked and quite relaxing after a busy day. Never had a bad time in this establishment. more

Saturday night frenzy... 5/10/2007

I enjoyed drinks on the patio at Stephen F's on a Saturday evening with just one other person. It was super busy, great place to go if you like people watching. Drinks are average, they ran out of bombay sapphire...the atrosity! it was lovely watching the cars and weirdos go by on Congress! Pros: location baby! Cons: running out of bombay sapphire more

Very Good Hotel 3/25/2007

I stayed at the Stephen F Austin Intercontinental hotel last week and was amazed that my business room had a computer and flat screen monitor. The bathroom was huge and it was nice to be able to walk to all the downtown spots more

This is the best Business hotel I have ever stayed in. Business rooms have in room Computers with free internet activity. 3/25/2007

I was amazed ti find that my room had a flat screen computer with free internet and breakfast. The business room is large enough to hold business meetings and all my calls were free. When I travel to Austin I no longer need to lu my lap top aound. This is a nie change! Pros: Very Modern Business location is perfect fantastic concierge Cons: Parking is valet only more

Fantastic Hotel 11/26/2006

My husband and I stayed at the Intercontinental hotel last week and could not have had a better stay. The room was modern with very expensive shampoo and conditioner.. everything seemed to be high end.. sheets and duvet are wonderful, I would like to buy one of their beds. One block from 6th street and a short 3 minute walk to the warehouse district what more could you ask for. We will alwsy stay at this hotel for all football matches and special occasions. They have a concierge team that are amazing,,, they even have a special intercontinental map of the city that shows authentic places off the beaten track... we had a great time!! more

Intercontinental Stephen F Austin Hotel 12/19/2005

I stayed on the tenth floor. It was hard to sleep during the night because of the noise from the street (because of the hotels proximity to 6th street). Our room, however, was quite spacious and clean. The decor was nice. The staff here are very friendly. The hotel was relatively easy to find. more

Thanksgiving Buffet 12/2/2005

I made reservations at their annual Thanksgiving buffet, only after asking the catering department if the spread would be traditional with all the fixings. It was not. Yes, there was turkey, but nothing else was traditional. In fact, they had run out of gravy and never replenished it; too, there wasn't even any pumpkin pie or pecan pie. The rolls where too hard to eat, and they had no mashed potatoes. They did, however, have an ODD feature of an omelet station: I had no idea omelets were a part of the traditional Thanksgiving feast. I was also completely disappointed that they did not decorate: sterile is the word that comes to mind. A big NO for thanksgiving: a waste of $50 per person. more

We just returned from the our stay and we found it quite pleasant. The hotel is beautiful and the location is excellent. It was luxurious and romantic. The service was okay. I wasn't completely blown away, but I did find my stay delightful. Pros: Beautiful, Great Location, Nice bar Cons: Parking, So-so service more
