I've Been Robbed!!! 4/12/2012

I feel as though I've been robbed after having gone to AIM. Let's see if they can resolve this. more

Awesome!! 12/1/2011

These guys know their stuff and will only do what is necessary. My wife brought in her car that had been quoted as needing a new transmission for over $1500 and IAM replaced their axle to fix the problem for $450. I unfortunately took my car elsewhere when they quoted a job for $1000 and another said $400, but by the end of the day the other place ended up charging me $1800 so I never should have left!! I'll be back for good now! more

Lack of communication leads to a lousy experience 11/27/2011

I have used IAM in the past and was always very satisfied. My latest experience was so bad I had to have my vehicle towed somewhere else to fix it. I work in the auto industry and have had many different BMWs, so I have seen a lot of what can happen to them but my 2006 325i was a bit outside my technical ability to repair. I knew it was likely the thermostat or water pump that caused the overheating. I had my vehicle towed there a Sunday afternoon after overheating. I left my keys at the drop box and filled out the paperwork explaining what had happened and what I suspected was wrong. I expected some sort of call shortly after they opened Monday to tell me they received my car alright and just to check in with me. I received no call and had to call later that morning to know they had started inspecting it. They later called me back to tell me they expected the water pump (which I had told them I thought it was) and needed to do a $100 diagnosis to tell them exactly what it was. I explained that I really thought it was the water pump. I was told that they really should do the diagnosis because they thought it was a control module for the water pump which would be less expensive to replace. I reluctantly agreed to this. After hours later of not getting a call back I called and heard an all too familiar more

Lost ALL confidence in them 9/8/2011

We've been going to IAM since moving here a year-and-a-half ago and thought that they were great but......... At the end of August 2011, one week before a trip, I took my car in for an oil change, tire rotation, alignment, and pre-trip inspection. The next day, I was called and told that new front rotors and brakes were needed to which I gave them the okay to do. The third day, I got a call informing me that they were having difficulty aligning the tires and that the car needed a new steering rack and tie rods. It was at this point that I called our trusted mechanic in our hometown, one of my husband's oldest friends. It was decided that we'd wait for him to take a look at the rack and rods because this is all adding up to well over $2000. Mind you, we're talking about a 2001 Outback so we're obviously not ""loaded"". Picked up the car and paid in total over $1000. The first leg of our trip was the first time that we'd driven the car on the interstate since getting it back. We noticed a new noise and feel in the front end but continued on, thinking it might be the new brakes settling in. The next day, the noise and feel were getting worse. Because we happened to be in our hometown, we called the trusted mechanic who came in on a Saturday to take a look. The lug nuts were not tightened on the wheels! After taking care of that, he put the car on the lift to take a look at the rack and rods. It was at this point that it was noted the brakes HAD NOT been worked on and the rack and rods didn't appear to need replacement. I notified IAM via email (because it was on a weekend) about the discoveries and asked that we please receive a call to address the problems. The call was received the following Tuesday and they admitted that the brake had not been done. Their ""solution"" was to refund HALF of the brake work and finish the job. I had a week to think over this and decided that I had lost ALL confidence in them. Upon returning from our trip, I went in to request a refund of ALL ($791+/-) the brake money to which they complied. All that was said was, ""Sorry 'bout that"" as I walked out the door. Follow up: Received call from owner who was very apologetic and said this was a most embarrassing mistake and the worst one made since they'd been in business. I DO appreciate his call! more

Dissenting Voice 1/31/2011

I do my own repairs but I needed to get the codes cleared out of the OBD so I towed to these guys. They quoted me a 100 fee for diagnostic and code reading. Turns out they couldn't diagnose it properly without charging me an extra 100! So now I'm in 200 bucks and for all I know it could be an EVAP leak; gas cap or dead battery! I've never experienced that from any mechanic before. And none of the diagnostic fee goes toward the repair. After dropping 775 I didn't get a vacuum or a wash. Screw these guys! I'm going elsewhere. more

I wouldn't go anywhere else. 9/13/2010

I took my first car to Import Auto Maintenance when I was 16 to have it inspected. They did a great job, and I have gone there ever since. Now my mother goes, my employers go, and I have recommended all my friends to go and use them. I have been using them for about 15 years now, and I love it. Anything Import Auto doesn't do themselves they will get done for me. If I have a dent they will take it somewhere for me to have it fixed. They are great. They are very honest and will do anything for the customer. If I don't have a car they will loan me one of theirs, or give me a ride wherever I need. They are the best. You are not just paying for car service, you are paying for so much more. They are great people. They will work with you on price and are very honest. They have always been great to me, and to the people that I have recommended there. I wouldn't go anywhere else. more

IAM is great 4/21/2010

I highly recommend IAM. I've been taking my cars there for about 3 yrs now (as long as I've lived in Nashville) and they've always been very professional and considerate. They always talk to you honestly and candidly, and while they always err on the side of taking the best possible care of your car, if you need to save money they are great about helping you figure out which service items are really 'necessary' and which you might be able to put off without harm to other parts of the car (which would obviously mean much more money in the long run). Plus everybody there is friendly, they always give you a courtesy ride to work or wherever you need to go (and the owner doesn't hesitate to come out and give you the ride if everybody else is busy). They give a 12mo./12,000 mile full warranty on everything they do, and if anything goes wrong (e.g., the occasional mishap where a car gets dinged--has happened to me once, and can happen anytime somebody else has your car) they are completely honest and transparent about everything and go above and beyond to fix it as good as new (and better than the car came in) and to make it right through a rental car, discounts, etc. All in all, great service, great care for your car, and great people. Pros: Service, communication, trustworthiness, price more

Always done right the first time. 2/5/2010

I have going to Import Auto Maintenance for about 23 years and have always been happy with their service. They speak in layperson terms and explain what the job entails so that you can understand what is being done to your car. They do not talk above you. Import Auto has done mainly maintenance and small repair work for me over the years and everything has been excellent. It is not the cheapest service but their work is always done right the first time. I cannot remember ever having to take my car back, which is important, because that is time and money. I like supporting independent shops like Import Auto Maintenance. They are centrally located and, though I have never used the courtesy van that they provide, it is a nice service to offer. I have always been satisfied with them. more

Good job and convenient service. 2/2/2010

I have been using Import Auto Maintenance since they have been in business because I knew the owner before he even started the business. They are convenient for me in terms of location as well as the shuttle service they provide, which picks you up and takes you to work. Import Auto Maintenance has done mainly maintenance work for me over the years and they do a good job. For major repairs, I have compared prices with other shops and gone elsewhere to get it done for a lower price. Overall, I have been pleased with Import Auto Maintenance and have already recommended them. Martin Clayton more

Best auto place in town! Customer service, price, location! 3/17/2009

The customer service is amazing. Being a woman, it can be a little daunting going to an auto repair place. Its as if the Heavens opened when I walked through the door. Never again will I go anywhere else. I was treated with friendliness, knowledgable staff who are honest and it was just a pleasurable experience all around. You never look forward to something happening to your car, but I honestly look forward to going back to Import Auto Maintenance. Their prices are wonderful, the atmosphere and staff are awesome, this place rocks. Pros: Best prices and customer service in town! Cons: what cons?? more

Best Auto Repair/Maintenance in Nashville! 8/3/2008

Being a woman and going in for auto repairs was never an easy task until I came here! Nelson makes you feel like you can put your trust in him and tells you exactly what your car needs or doesn't need. I will always trust their judgement and work! This is the place to take your import! They keep my cars in top shape! Pros: Location and Price more

Thank You 8/1/2008

I wanted to thank you for your tremendous service on my Jetta. I appreciate your honesty & the priority in which the work was done. I'll never go back to the dealer again! Thanks again for all your work in keeping me on the road! more

Great customer service; trustworthy; great work in a timely fashion 6/11/2008

As a woman who knows very little about my car, it was great to have a repair shop who not only did outstanding work on my car, but also explained what repairs needed to be made and WHY they needed to be made. I was given a ride to and from work that day also - saving me having to bother friends or family, or renting a car. I was very happy with the job done and would highly recommend IAM to anyone in need of repairs to an European car. Pros: Knowledge, timeliness, location, shuttle service to work Cons: my old car more

Great Customer service and very helpful! 12/17/2007

I.A.M was a life saver. I own a Mitsubishi Galant and was having some problems and there is no Mit. dealership near Nashville. I fell upon I.A.M (who has rights to work on Mit.) and they got me all fixed up. They went to my wifes workplace and picked her up and took her back to I.A.M so we did not have to worry about the headache of trying to pick up the car. The Customer service was an A++. Very nice people. I will go to them with all future problems and will tell all my friends and co-workers about them! Pros: Fast service, customer pick-up, and great customer service! more

great place to take my car. 1/18/2007

i enjoyed the experience though i didn't know that was possible with a car problem. they were nice and knew what they were talking about. i would send friends, co-workers, etc. Pros: location Cons: my car more

Excellent Import Car Care Shop. 1/18/2007

Excellent staff; superior knowledge; timely and expert service. They were the only shop (out of 4) that I visited that was honest and up-front about the true nature of the problem with my car. Pros: Shuttle Service Cons: n/a more

Good Service, High Prices 5/20/2005

Import Auto is the sort of place to take your car when you have a complicated problem that no other shop wants to deal with, or your regular mechanic is stumped. They are very good at what they do, but you will pay more here than just about anywhere in town except perhaps at a dealership. Still worth the money, though, if you've got nowhere else to turn. They offer shuttle service, too. more
