Diabetics Beware 1/31/2007

I'm really on the fence with this place, the food is good, but there's not a lot of variety, there are Ribs, Burgers, Chicken and Fish, all well prepared and tasty, but none of it is all that exciting. Once you've been there a few times you've pretty much seen it all, and the menu doesn't change very much. The service is very good, if you need something any waiter or staff member passing by will help you. The atmosphere is dark and moody, but if you go during the hight point of the dinner hour (7:30 - 8:30) it can be a bit noisy. It's an excellent date place, but just know you're looking at $60 - $75 for 2 if you each have a drink. Unfortunately for me I'm a diabetic and when I called the corporate office to ask about putting some kind of sugar free desert on the menu, I got a letter saying ""there are no plans to add a sugar free desert..."", so that response sucked. But as I said, the food, service and atmosphere are good, maybe I'm just irritated about the sugar free thing. Have fun. Pros: Good Food, Excellent Service Cons: Quite Noisy Between 7:30 and 8:30, A Little Pricey, No Suger Free Deserts more

The food is sooooooooooo good! 12/18/2006

My wife and I love Houston's. It it weren't for the prices ($25 for an entree salad), we would go there all of the time. Pros: The Food; Cool Atmosphere Cons: A bit pricey... more

Nice Romantic Spot 11/20/2006

I went to this restraunt with my Best Friend and I am not even a big Steak lover but after coming to this restraunt I have been on a steak fix ever since. The steaks are nice and juicy and the sides are great to. If you are looking for something romantic this is definately a nice setting to go to. more

Great Ambiance, Below Average Service 10/1/2006

When you happen to get the right server, with the right cooks at the right time, Houstons can be a truly memorable experience. The one constant at Houstons is their wonderful environment and ambiance. It is definitely and upscale place. As to the food and service, it can be spotty. The food is generally good. At times it can even be exceptional. I once had a steak that could quite possibly be the best Ive ever eaten. The ribs are usually good as well. That being said, I have also received food that is cold and undercooked. The service in my opinion is Houstons biggest problem. The hostesses almost always have attitude and routinely call you before your table is actually ready. I have waited up to ten minutes after my name being called to actually be seated. As to the servers, Im not sure Ive ever once had a meal there that was appropriately timed. If you take nothing from this posting but this, let this be it: Do not order all of your food at once! If you do, your entree will arrive about two minutes after your salad which arrived two minutes after your spinach dip! They NEVER give you enough time to eat (and Im a fast eater!) Unless you like eating cold expensive food that is supposed to be hot, wait to order your entree until after your appetizers & salads arrive! Lastly, expect to wait during peak times. Two people can easily wait 45 minutes to an hour on a Saturday night. The bar is usually packed and inside waiting space is limited. Don't even think about trying this place with groups of more than four! Pros: Ambiance & Food Cons: Service & Waits more

excellent steak 9/4/2006

I can tell you I have had just about everything on the menu and it is all good. The ribs are succulent, the burgers are just awesome! And the steak just doesn't get any better. Pros: Food is always excellent Cons: You may have to wait a while for a table more

will never go back again 4/23/2006

I heard the steak was very good there, but when I went, not only was all the food burnt, the service was horrible. We never saw our waiter and got our water 30 minutes after we were seated. I was really shocked at the lack of service that I received there that I would never recommend this place to anyone Cons: service, food more

Great Food, Lesser service 9/14/2005

I am not so sure this is new trend in restaurant that servers are having so lack of servicemen ship. Food is great. Freshness of fish and vegetable were always great. Steaks were always well prepared, but every time I visit this place, servers act like they don't know what to do. Shoving 6 adults into maxium 5(comfortable for 4 or it should be seated for 4) booth, not so adequately explaining how they prepare food or read it way too fast. At least this is not a diner with one person serving everyone. Cordial service is definitely missing here. more

Houston's had always been a favorite but was so crowded. A friend recently told me they started taking reservations which enables me to take clients there for lunch. My clients are always impressed. The food is consistenly good, there is nothing like their Thai Steak or their Cosmos. Another plus is their reasonably priced wine list which has some great less known California wines. The waiters are always friendly and efficent. Pros: easy parking, take reservations, consistent more

WARM APPLE COBBLER. Save room. If feeling full stop and doggy bag it. You will want this dessert. On the weekends make reservations, else plan to wait at least 45mins. But well worth the wait. I think they only take reservations for parties of 6+, but I maybe wrong, call. Travelling alot I always do a search to see if there is a Houstons in that city. It is that good, and consistent in quality. more

Great Meats 4/10/2003

The babyback ribs and the prime ribs are best in town. I've eaten at Lawrys which is supposedly known for their prime ribs and Houstons prime rib is ten times better. Their clam chowder is also one of the bests. They are always busy too, no matter what day you go but go for an early dinner and you'll be better off. Pros: Prime Rib, Baby Backs, Clam Chowder Cons: Busy, Different soup more

Decent for a chain 7/1/2002

Solid appetizers to choose from, but the main courses are bit slim. Was hoping to have more than one soup selection a day (wanted the Saturday soup, but it was only Friday). This location is often crowded, so I'd suggest sitting in the bar are, where you can enjoy the full menu and sit quicker Pros: full bar Cons: crowded more
