I would NOT recommend this place at all! My dog is at the emergency hospital having surgery as I type this as a result of what happened today.
I dropped my dog off at 10:30am Saturday to have a normal grooming. By 3:30pm I hadn't heard anything, so I stopped by the facility to check status. Luxe was actually on the table at the front being groomed at that time and the owner asked me to come back in 30 minutes because she wasn't done yet. After 30 minutes I returned and asked how it went. She stated that he did okay, though he didn't like it when his nails were cut. She asked me what happened to his eye. And I said nothing, he was fine. She said it was cloudy and red. When she brought him out, his eye was PROTRUDING from his head!!!
Here's the bad part. She essentially said that it happened before I dropped him off because nothing happened while he was in her care. I said that wasn't true, that even 30 minutes before when I stopped by, he was just fine. She continued to state that nothing happened in her care and that it was like that all along! What kind of groomer would even attempt to bathe a dog when their eye was half way out of his head?
I pleaded to just let me know what happened so I could tell the vet. Was it trauma? Did her scissors slip? Did he get into a fight with another dog? She kept saying that he was like that the entire time and nothing happened while in her care.
Interestingly, the vet stated that this can sometimes happen to the shitzhu breed because they have large eyes. Any trauma will cause it, but so can pressure. Like the kind of pressure from a collar. Or from a hand trying to hold his head still.
So, while my pup is at the emergency hospital and they are trying to salvage his eye sight (because most protrusions result in the blindness and the loss of the eye), I find myself writing this review because I want others to know.
