This hotel definitely has an Asian aesthetic - sleek and full of elegant simplicity. the location is great, just steps from Union Square and all the

Clean and spotless! 6/28/2006

Room is on the small side, but every aspect of the room was clean and comfy and meticulously well-kept. For someone like me who prioritizes cleanliness over anything else (such as room size), this was the perfect hotel. And the bathroom was just brilliant. I hope to stay there again and again in the future! more

Good stay, best location! 6/6/2006

Liked this spot. Great shopping and good food just a few steps away. Stayed a few nights and had an incredible time. Nice rooms, pool and stiff drinks at the Daily Grill. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Pros: Location, Rooms, Staff Cons: NONE! more

Rude staff 3/25/2006

The staff are extremely rude, despite attempting to maintain some sort of thin veneer of friendliness. They are impatient over the phone and worse in person. I'll never stay here again. more

Good for the money 7/31/2005

Very beautiful atmosphere, curtious staff. Room was small, typical for a boutique hotel. Bed was comforatable room was decorated nicely. Very hip. Excellent value for the price! Pros: Inexpensive, Valet Cons: Small room more

Beatiful Hotel so-so service 7/6/2005

Walking into the hotel it is everything you would expect of a swank contemporary hotel with a bit of old charm. The beautiful decor begins with the glass front door, which you reach through the gated parking lot, and carried through to the floor-to-ceiling water feature in the main lobby. They even managed to keep in tact what looks like the original ceiling and artwork, which although doesn't quite flow with the rest of the modern decor, earns brownie points because they obviously saw something beautiful and decided to keep it. Different serene colors on each floor definitely put you in their designated mood. The one drawback of my stay there...the people who work there obviously didn't want to be there because they were all rude from the beginning of my stay until the moment I drove away...really to bad. Pros: Proximity, Decor, Architecture Cons: Customer Service more

Great location 7/6/2005

My fiance and I stayed here on our yearly trip to San Francisco during the 4th of July weekend. We booked this trip through an Expedia package deal and got a fairly good rate on a Petite Queen room. For the location and what we spent, the hotel was a good deal. Though the room was very small, it was clean and offered great views. The staff was very accomodating and friendly. If you're looking for luxury, this probably isn't the place given the size of the room, but it was big enough for a weekend getaway and worked out well for us. Be sure to check out the Irish bar across the street. Pros: Great location, Friendly staff, Good views Cons: Small rooms more

The worst service in receptionist 7/3/2005

I ask for two or three services for the recepcionist at the lobby an they have a ver bad attitude. the people that hels you to guide in the city are very kind and helpful. Pros: ubication Cons: recepcionist more

Good value although long waits 6/20/2005

Enterprise delivers satisfactory cars at a reasonable price. Not the best value but a good place to check into when the other dealres are rented out in then summer months. The cars are well kept and there is generally a wide selection to choose from although larger cars sell out quickly. Worth the sometimes long lines but beware of parking and bring a friend to circle wqhile you check out the car PROS: selection CONS: Parking, lines, models available more

Great value 6/23/2004

Ok.. So it's SF, you have to expect that rooms aren't going to be grand, unless your willing to pay a grand. My room was waay cool, the staff is waaay cool, and the location rocks. The rates are very reasonable. The area, borderline to the tenderloin district, is slightly shady, but definitely not dangerous. Uptight midwesterners beware, city life is shady!! Pros: Friendly staff, Reasonable rates, Great roof patio more

OK, but be Careful 6/30/2003

An OK hotel with few amenities, but reasonable rates. It's close to the action of Union Square, but in a questionable setting in the Tenderloin District. The street people right outside are agressive, and if you are not used to this best to stay somewhere else. Note that at the front door all arrows point left. Heed this advice and watch yourself in the immediate neighborhood. If you are concerned about this type of thing, spend more money and stay closer to Union Square. Pros: Neat Atmosphere, Rooms in back quiet, Relatively cheap Cons: Immediate Area, A bit snotty (why?) more

Charming? 1/21/2003

Stayed here a couple of days ago. Other then the check-in desk with the waterfall, I wasn't very impressed. The hotel has no room service and didn't appear to have a restaurant. The rooms are very small and have little of the ambience your led to believe. My wife and I met friends for dinner and drinks, when they dropped us off at the hotel after midnight we had to wade through the homeless people to get to the front door. Scary and a little embarrassing. I wouldn't recommend this Hotel to anyone. more

Luxurious experience! 5/27/2002

My husband and I found such a beautiful oasis at the Hotel Nikko. We were delighted with every aspect of our stay, which far exceeded our expectations. The lobby is breathtaking, it's artwork and awesome architecture. The rooms are sensual and classy at the same time. My husband had easy access to his e-mail (which is important!) through high-speed access in our room. The staff was so friendly and eager to assist - we're definately going back. Pros: Location, Service more

Cute Hotel! 5/26/2002

During my stay at the Metropolis all of the staff was cordial and my room was comfortable. The neighborhood outside is kind of ""rough"", but they have a security guard so I felt comfortable. I would not have felt comfortable without one. Aside from needing to have juice at breakfast (like every other hotel on the planet - hello???) I was impressed with the amenities, especially the free wine. more
