Hoag & Dotsch

Dr. Hoag diagnosed gum disease and treatment for this costing $1700. As I had no indication of this problem I saw another dentist who told me I did not have gum disease and I did not need this treatment. Dr. Hoag charges considerably more than competative prices and has fewer resources. There was only one endodontist in Seattle he would recommend and timing was critical for work I needed. Surely there is more than one good endodontist in the area! A list of procedures was given to me - some repair, some clearly cosmetic adding up to $20,000. Dr. Hoag did not work with me on prioritizing work to be done - I would quickly run out of my annual insurance maximum for the year. Dr Hoag offers elegant coffee drinks in the waiting room and movies to view while getting work done. Of greater value to me is health care providers who work with me and offer me services and choices that need to be made. more

I will be writing more about Hoag and Dostche so this is abbreviated and needs to be fleshed out. I am very uncomfortable about what happened to me. They seem like the classic "revenue stream" generating dentist office. 1. They charged me $90 for a completely unnecessary anti-bacterial spray 2. I believe it was Dotsche (the husband) who wanted to literally fill my mouth with crowns (about 7 altogether I think - I will review and provide the exact number). I went to Dr. Tim Butson who is a friend of the family and who teaches at the UW. He said this treatment was totally unnecessary and I only needed 2. I am thankful that I did not continue my service with Dr. Dotsche - it seems to me that he is all about smiling at you and then trying to take advantage of you in any little - or big - way he can. more

This is a husband/wife team who runs an amazing dentistry office. Stacy, the receptionist, is so sweet and helpful. The Drs. are very professional and up-to-date on the latest techniques. They use very gentle methods, and also offer Invisiline, which I am in the process of doing right now to straighten my teeth. It is wonderful!
