Stained Glass Heaven 10/4/2010

This diamond in the rough is superbly located a few blocks above Pravda, Brooks Bros, etc, and close to the #30 bus to Fisherman's' Wharf, Museums, etc. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, let us leave our things several hours before actual check in time. They gave us a large room on the sixth floor, in stained glass heaven, after I had asked about the beautiful windows. Park diagonally across the street is perfect for `picnics.' more

Great Economy Hotel 9/29/2010

It's a great hotel for budget travelers. There are lots of bars and restaurants nearby. It is in the heart of San Frans Chinatown and the bar that Jack Karouac used to hang out in (Vesuvio) is within walking distance! The room itself was great, the bed was comfy and the shower was pretty good also. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone! more

I found it more than adequate for my needs. I did not spend much time in the room. The view to the north from my top floor room was interesting, a mixture of vintage San Francisco roof tops and icons! more

A good location with new furniture, sparkling fixtures, and clean bedding, The Grant does show its age. The smaller rooms may be a shock to Americans but not to Europeans. The staff was very friendly and helpful. more

Great Location 9/16/2010

The location of the hotel is the best part about it - right on the corner of Grant Avenue and Pine Street, at the beginning of Chinatown and right at the edge of the Downtown Financial District. MUNI and BART stations are within about a 10 minute walking distance, and so is Union Square and tons of shops. more

It's got a great vibe and the front-end staff were SUPER friendly when I checked in, so I gotta give this place a 5 star review. For the area in which it sits, right on the brink of the Financial District, it's pretty tough to find a better deal in town. more

We chose this hotel based on it's handy location for our arrival night after a long flight. As it featured in a lot of guide books as good value budget choice we thought it would do the job. And it did. more

The Grant Plaza really is incredible value in such an expensive city. Its located in Chinatown, which is a pretty safe part of town to walk around in. more

Best Bargain 9/1/2010

Located just outside the Chinatown gate, it's basic but clean, with unusually spacious rooms that have Motel 6 decor and minimal amenities - phone with data port and voicemail, clock radio, hairdryer, and satellite TV. Still, you can't beat the location, and with rates starting at $54 for a single and $70 for a double, it's one of the city's best bargains. more

I highly recommend staying here 8/30/2010

If you are on a tight travel budget, can't afford the more expensive hotels, want to stay somewhere relatively safe and quiet even at night, and are taking public transportation to travel around San Francisco, I highly recommend staying here. more

Two Thumbs Up 8/26/2010

I rather quite enjoyed my stay at this nice little boutique hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed there for three days. We arrived early and the friendly front desk person allowed us to check in. It was the perfect location for us to see all the sights we wanted to in san francisco. It was only a couple of blocks to the cable cars which took us to Fishermans Wharf ( a must see!) Lots of good shopping nearby too. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfy. No complaints here! more
