Happy Patient 4/18/2012

I have been going to VWHA for 7 years and have enjoyed my experience there. I have had two babies while using this practice. I mostly saw Dr. Hersh, but did have appointments with PA Amy Rembold, Dr. Adams, and Dr. Morales. I felt like each Dr. and their PA were very good at listening to my concerns and answering any questions I had. Another plus for me was that they didn't mind when I had to bring my older child with me to a few appointments during pregnancy number 2. Pregnancies mean several ob appointments especially the closer you get to your due date. I tried to schedule my appointments first thing in the morning or first thing after lunch and found I rarely had to wait more than 10 minutes especially if I arrived 5-10 minutes ahead of time. I found the office staff and nurses to be courteous and skilled. I did have a few minor complications with my pregnancy and was grateful that they were willing to accommodate me a few times at the last minute (one time keeping the office open a few extra minutes in the evening until I could get there) in order to make sure that my baby and I were okay. Something I really appreciate about Dr. Hersh is her concerns about my overall health and whether I'm getting enough calcium, exercise, etc. whether it's during my annual appointment or if I'm pregnant. I'm constantly passing this information on to my sisters-in-law because they're not hearing it from their OB's. more

Highly recommend dr 3/3/2012

I would rate Dr. Hersh as a highly effective doctor. I have been going to the practice for over 14 years and wouldn't think of going to anyone else. Through my pregnancies and through all the years in her practice, the qualities that I love the most are her genuine caring and her decisiveness. I feel like when she makes a decision, she is knowledgeable and thinks through the best possible solutions. I love her confidence and yet I love her empathy and caring. She is very approachable and is easy to talk to. I would highly rate her practice. more

Dr. Camilla Hersh 1/22/2012

I've been Dr. Hersh's patient for the past five years. I think she is a wonderful person and a very knowledgeable doctor. In comparison with my previous gynecologist, she always tries to find a solution to every problem I discuss with her. She was very supportive all these years. more

Dr. Camilla Hersh 10/6/2011

I have been going to Dr. Hersh for atleast 15 years. I feel safe in her competent and professional hands. She understands the health risks and needs of women. She appropriately and proactively screens for potential problems and follows up accordingly. She answers my questions intelligently. I feel free to talk to her about anything related to my gynecological health and am confident that she will always give me her honest answer. more

VA Women's Health Associates 8/19/2011

I have been going to VA Women's Health Associates for 19 years and have received excellent care from day one for myself as well as prenatal care for my children. That's why I have traveled to go to their practice. Dr. Hersh respects my philosophy of living and gives informed responses to my questions or concerns. What attracted me most to their practice was their education and experience in the field. I have the utmost confidence in their care for me and would highly recommend their practice. more

Wonderful Practice 7/25/2011

I have been a patient of Dr. Hersh's for over 10 years and have had a very good experience with their practice. Dr. Hersh and her practice have delivered all 3 of my children, walked with us through the miscarriage of another child, and provided us with the best possible options for a surgery as well (which was successful and the right decision). We've had nothing but excellent care, sensitivity during very emotional times, and time was given to explaining and answering our questions. The nursing staff has been very competent and attentive to phone calls and testing. I would highly recommend Dr. Hersh's practice to any of my friends. more

Pleased 7/20/2011

I have been seeing Dr. Hersh for over 15 years and have always been extrememly pleased with my experience. She is experienced, competent, friendly and always answers all my questions thoroughly. When responding to a question, she really explains the answer. She doesn't require me to have numerous testing when not required and I trust her completely. The staff has always been professional and extremely patient with my fear of needles when drawing blood. Ten years ago I moved away and I still ocntinue to drive over 35 miles to see Dr. Hersh. In the DC metro area, to drive that far to see an OBGYN is usually not necessary but I will not see anyone else. I have recommended Dr. Hersh and the practice to all my friends. more

Dr Hersh and staff are great 7/19/2011

After many years of suffering from very heavy and painful periods and seeing many doctors that provided no help at all, my general practitioner recommended Dr. Camilla Hersh. I had lost all hope of ever being able to live a life that did not rotate around my menses, but Dr. Hersh changed all that. From day one she treated me as more than just another patient. She was very friendly and informative. She provided me with very detailed information and all the alternative treatments that I had available for my condition. The attention I have received from Dr. Hersh and the entire staff from Virginia Women’s Health Associates has been absolutely outstanding. Dr. Hersh and the entire staff are Godsends. I am recommending Virginia Women’s Health Associates to all my friends. more

Dr. Hersh is WONDERFUL! 6/17/2011

I have been a patient of Dr. Hersh for over 12 years and I cannot say enough good things about her. I have always found her to be an excellent and thorough doctor with a very warm, friendly and caring personality. She has been my OB/GYN through a heartbreaking miscarriage, 2 wonderful and successful pregnancies, an early-stage cancer diagnosis and subsequent hysterectomy. I have felt totally comfortable with her through all of this. Nothing is overlooked by her. I trust her completely and have the utmost respect and admiration for her and her team. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, dedicated and caring physician, then look no further than Dr. Hersh and VA Women's Health Associates more

Great doctors, staff, courtesy 5/20/2011

I have been to many, many doctors' offices during my life for various medical conditions, and I have to say that Virginia Women's Health Associates is among the best, if not the best. You'd think that someone wouldn't usually rate their ob/gyn as the best doctor they have since it's usually not a fun experience getting certain tests...but they make it so laid back and comfortable I don't even mind. I have seen Drs. Hersch and Adams, as well as the PA Amy, and they are all wonderful. Each takes the time to go into detail about my exam and answer any questions that I have. Their front office, nursing, and lab staff are also great. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to get taken back to a room, and the doctors are always very prompt seeing me. I once had to have extensive testing done, and the staff took the time to explain the whole thing to me and tell me the ways to make it easier and faster. Another time I had to go for a procedure at a different doctor's office but forgot my order for the test - the staff at VWHA faxed it over right away so I didn't get stuck waiting because I forget the order. The nurses are great about returning my calls when I have questions, and everyone is so pleasant. I am going through my first pregnancy now, which is high-risk, so I have to see the doctors several times per month - this gives me a lot of chances to evaluate the office and staff, so I know my positive experiences aren't just anomalies. I am sure the negative reviewers' experiences happened, but no office is perfect. All I can say is that I feel very comfortable going to VWHA, knowing I have kind, knowledgeable doctors who never make me wait. I live in Haymarket but keep VWHA as my ob/gyn provider in Reston because I don't think I could find another office as excellent as this one. more

Dr. Hersh is AMAZING! 4/26/2011

I have been seeing Dr. Camilla Hersh for 9 years and she is AMAZING!. There is a reason she is consistently in Washingtonian Magazine's Top 100 Doctors list. She is extremely professional, knowledgeable, dedicated, and has a fantastic ability to diagnose "mystery" problems where other doctors have failed. After 10+ years of being in pain I was referred to Dr. Hersh by a co-worker that said she loved her GYN. Dr. Hersh was able to diagnose and effectively treat a problem that several other doctors told me I would just have to live with. Then, when I had incredible pain a year later all of my test results came back normal and all of the doctors I had seen told me there was nothing they could do. Although I was told my issue was not gynecological, I decided to seek Dr. Hersh's opinion anyways because I trust her. She spent time listening to me, reviewing my medical records and tests, and even sent me for a few tests that others had not. It turned out to be a gynecological issue after all. Because we decided surgery was the best option, she recommended I get a 2nd opinion to put my mind at ease, which I did. That doctor completely agreed with her diagnosis. When Dr. Hersh performed the surgery she found a large tumor and because she caught it in time it had no cancer cells. Dr. Hersh is an AMAZING doctor. Not only did she completely improve my quality of life, she may have saved it as well. more

Great Women's Health Physician 3/31/2011

I have been a patient of Dr. Camilla Hersh with Virginia Women's Health Associates in Reston, Virginia for 8 years. As a Registered Nurse with a Master’s degree, I am a healthcare professional capable of distinguishing great medical care from poorly delivered care. My longevity with Dr. Hersh is a testament to the great medical care that she and her team have delivered, as well as my experiential observation of her as a physician, a trusted source of information and a positive center of support toward my health and well being. I choose to be with Dr. Hersh because of her knowledge, quality of care and the overall team support in her office. She has made a positive difference for my health and I highly recommend her to family and friends. E. G. more

Great Experiences with Virginia Women's Health 3/18/2011

I'm not one to rate anything on the internet but feel that Dr Hersh has been poorly misrepresented. I have been with Virginia Women's Health for 5 years, delivered my 2nd and 3rd babies. Now on my 4th and would never think of going anywhere else. Dr Hersh takes time for each of her patients and always has for me. Wait times can be longer due to unexpected emergencies but if you were that emergency, you would hope those in the waiting room would be understanding. Nothing but fantastic experiences with her and the PA. Wonderful staff, don't trust the negative reviews posted here. more

10 years of TLC 2/14/2011

Camilla Hirsh (MD/ OBGYN) has been my Dr for 10 years. In that time medical challenges came and went which were all handled professionally and with successful results. Dr Hersh respects everyone and always supports life with TLC. She does not intentionally take lives one day, via abortion , and then deliver them the next. Dr Hersh's practice is entirely supportive of life at all stages. That's the kind of Dr I was looking for. Whether you're in for a treatment, a check up, or you have a baby to deliver, her manner is win, win. She wants everyone to be happy and delivers outstandingly well. Her great knowledge and care make it a privilege to be one of her patients! more

Not a fan of Dr. Hersh 12/3/2010

I am not a big fan of Dr. Hersh either. The waiting time is LONG, and one time I had to wait over 1 hour as the receptionist forgot all about me. Dr. Hersh treated her patients like the products on the assembly line even though she appears to be smily and nice. In facts, she didn't pay personal attention and care to her patients. I don't even understand why she is always fully booked. I have decided to switch to another doctor and even a different place. more

trust your intuition 7/7/2010

I usually do not take the time to write reviews about organizations or unpleasant experiences I have had.....however, this time I feel it necessary. I found out I was pregnant and you could only imagine how happy my husband and I were! Of course I immediately made an appointment with my gyno. My first (and last visit went like this) Walked into the office, peed in a cup, they asked when my last period was. I had been going the VA Womens for a few years and they knew my history. I have never been regular so I said " i could be anywhere from 2 - 12 weeks pregnant". The nurse practitioner said " Yeah you are 12 weeks, don't second guess yourself". Hummm ok. I was literally in the office for 10 minutes, and the nurse taking my blood was the longest part. I felt like a number and quickly rushed out of the office, only to receive a huge bag of information and prenatal pill samples. I stood there with a list of questions and felt completely overwhelmed that i was rushed out of there. Before I left the office, I had a bag of medication that i take day to day for psoriasis. I asked "can i take any of these, because I know a few of them have steroids." OH YES they are fine, the nurse practitioner said. (which i found out later I could absolutely NOT take them) I felt uneasy and asked when I would be able to meet the doctor and her response was "Well there are a few here that deliver and you wont meet them for another 2 months" When I left I thought that maybe I was just nervous. Maybe I was expecting too much. Maybe I am just over reacting. Trust your intuition. I found another doctor in Fairfax who delivers at Fair Oaks and quickly realized the difference between professional and incompetent. If you are willing to deliver at Fair Oaks, Fair Ridge OB/GYN Associates is wonderful! Dr Hodges and Dr. Zaita are great and its a family like atmosphere. ........and by the way, I wasnt 12 weeks after all. Only 7 weeks and I was given a sonogram the day of my appointment at "Fair Ridge" so we more

Don't go here! 5/12/2008

I was a patient of Dr. Barish's, and she delivered my daughter, but I'm leaving the practice and finding another doctor. Numerous doctors have left since Dr. Barish left, they always give me a hard time getting prescription refills, especially on certain drugs that you shouldn't stop taking! They were bad about scheduling appointments, cancelled at the last minute, and were always late. I was happy with them when I first started going there, but things have gone steadily downhill. Service is horrible, receptionists come and go...I'm just really unhappy with their services and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. more

Shame on this practice! 1/24/2007

Dr. Hersh was my OB/GYN for 9 months of pregnancy and seemed nice enough. On the day that my baby was born we all were shocked to learn that the baby had no right forearm and hand. It was a surprise to us all. Instead of explaining what could have happened and offering support her associate that delivered the baby only asked where I had my ultrasounds done and the explanation was that it was a fluke. I really needed support and they dropped me like a bad habit. I had questions that no one in the practice seemed willing to address. And while it was not Dr. Hersh herself who delivered the baby, she was "my doctor" and never even bothered to stop by my hospital room while on rounds to see me, the baby, or to discuss the birth defect. It is her practice and I hold her responsible for the terrible bed side manner I experienced. And... to top it off when I broke out in "pregnancy hives" within 24 hours of the baby's birth they suggested I see a dermatologist as they had no idea what could be causing the all over body rash... It was Pregnancy Hives.. duh! Oh, and just for the record I am Catholic and very Pro-Life so this is not a slam on her very active Pro-Life stance more

Never saw a Dr... 7/13/2006

I have been to Dr. Hersh's practice but never saw a Dr. I always saw a nurse. Then I had a friend who miscarried and went to her. They never told her she miscarried and assumed she knew. She had an awful, awful experience. I have another friend who loves this practice and has had 3 babies with them. more

I was a patient, but no more 4/21/2006

I was a patient of Dr. Camille Hersh for several years, but I'm leaving this practice because they dropped my insurance plan. However, even if that had not been the case, I might have left them anyway. For every "good" they had, there was also a "bad." Good examples: they went to an automated phone system to get test results, so you can get them at your convenience. Also, the Dr. proactively asked holistic questions about my health. I never had a GYN who recorded and advised about calcium intake, how much exercise I get, etc. Bad Examples: the Dr. was WAY overscheduled, and as a result was always late for appointments, by 15 mins up to an hour. When they dropped my insurance plan, they didn't notify me, though they had made that decision five months prior to my appointment (on a good note, when I called to protest the charges from that appt., they said I wouldn't have to pay. On a bad note, they forgot and billed me anyway & I had to call and "remind" them that they agreed to dismiss the charges!). Dr. Hersch lets her religious beliefs seep into her medical advice. I strongly support a person's right to practice religion, but a doctor should be objective when giving health guidance. more
