This place has gotten me through some rough mornings, well, let’s be serious…afternoons. It’s more of a resting point than a destination. Known for their ice cream and hipsters, locals tend more towards coffee and tea consumption. 8 stamped coffee drink purchases qualifies for a freebie, and depending on who you know, you’re likely to be comp’t a few along your journey. The also make some great lunches…sandwiches, salads, vegan entrees, yogurt and granola, fruit, bagels (with a variety of extra chunky cream cheeses), and at breakfast time they cook their eggs with a milk frother. The cast of baristas and cooks has sadly changed as of late, but there are a few respectable ones who’ll play fugazi and talking heads over the trendy-indie-wank-tunes ‘o the day. On a hot day, stay a few tables away from the bums…they shower even less than Allston kids.
