Great place to go for Sunday brunch, love the staff and great service

Worst

I like Henry's better in the summer when you can sit outside. The drinks are predictable and this is good - never a bad drink and yet never a great drink.\r \r Average food and...

Always busy for a reason 4/3/2005

Decent food, decent prices, large variety of food choices and a nice atmosphere make this place a popular choice for many Portlanders. So many in fact that it is almost always very busy. Busy is good if you are looking to meet people but bad because service can be slow and sometimes it can be hard to find a seat anywhere in the bar. Very nice selection at the bar and also an upstairs bar with several nice pool tables. Too bad this place closes so early! Pros: Wide selection, Decent food, Always a crowd Cons: Sometimes too busy, Closes early more

Hot Spot 12/3/2004

Gtrea place. The outdoor seating it so wonderfull in the summer. Fun for drinks, you have to check it out. First Thursdays.. this place is crazy! Fun, that about describes it. Not one bad thing. It you are anti - social, weird or are uncomfortable being in a good, fun crowd... don't go. Regular people.., give it a try. You won't be dissapointed Pros: Fun, good service, drinks! more

Good - but needs to take reservations! 10/30/2004

The only negative after a night at Henry's was the fact they don't take reservations. We went on a Friday night (group of 6) and had to wait nearly 1 1/2 hours for a table. Luckily we found a place to camp in the bar and had great bar snacks, beers and cocktails. The dinner menu offered something for every taste and budget. If they took reservations we would make this a regular stop - as it is - we will likely go back only on a rare occasion when we can stand to wait for a table. Pros: Great food, Great drinks, Good value more

Can't get much more trendy 10/21/2004

The moment I walked into this place I felt like I was at a fashion party for Vogue. Don't go in there unless you have a Louie Vitton purse, a fake tan and trendy clothes. Its an expensive place to get your drink on. Pros: BEST BEER SELECTION Cons: , CROWDED more

Doesn't live up to reputation 10/3/2004

This was a much anticipated first visit to Henry's and I was highly disappointed. First things first, consider yourselves forewarned: happy hour does not exist for outdoor seating. Second, in keeping with the American ""supersize"" attitude, the california rolls were as big as my fist. Take a hint from the Japanese Henry's, and make the sushi bite size! Among other things, they were out of almost every beer we tried to order, and we received our bill before the food ever made it to the table! Don't waste your time. Pros: outdoor heated patio Cons: , food more

Give Me A Break 9/18/2004

I have visited Henry's on a number of occasions for dinner, drinks and happy hour. But my last, and final, visit to Henry's was a night that me and two friends stood in line for over 20 minutes to get into the bar only to be passed up by 3 scantily dressed women who were allowed by ""security"" to enter in front of everyone else in line. I have watched this place go from a fun and enjoyable atmosphere to an ""exclusive"" club that I choose to not patronize any longer. Sorry Henry's...I'm over your fake-me-out A-List mentality. more

Favorite Place 9/17/2004

Atmosphere is spot on, and one of the reviewers that pointed out it is un-Portland like... thank god! Personally I can do without the purple-haired pierced tongue waitresses at so many other places. Welcome a little class to the freakish Northwest! They spent millions on decor, and is the largest restaurant in Portland... it is the place to be. You may try to dress up a tad too, it's not a sports bar. The only complaint is that they close too early. Pros: happy hour food, atmosphere, people watching Cons: , line to get in, sometimes OVERcrowded more

Overrated 9/12/2004

Don't get us wrong, the bar area is great. We love the plasma TVs, and it's got a nice woody feel. THe food in the restaurant section leaves a lot to be desired. The menu is all over the place-Italian, Chinese, American, healthy. Long waits and overpriced items (dinner for 4 at $150) ensure that we won't be back - at least not for the food. Oddly un-Portland decor doesn't quite go with the city. Pros: nice bar Cons: , disorganized staff, long waits more

One of the few NON-SMOKING bars 9/11/2004

I must say that Henry's is a NON-SMOKING bar. Yeah, kind of hard to believe, but an aspect that NON smokers LOVE and smokers deal with. (Even some smokers like it) Also, check out the billiards room! (no billiards), but seven beautiful pool tables and a full bar. Although only 5 beers on tap. Oh. and great chairs and 4 more tv's. more

ELITIST 9/11/2004

Why would anyone pay to be abused? There are so many inventive, friendly, fun and tasty establishments to support in this town. I'm surprised to see people lining up for bad attitudes and mediocre food; I thought we expected more in Portland. Pros: beer list more

Strange Combinations 9/7/2004

This is an odd restaurant. The menu is all over the board, offering everything from Italian to Chinese to American. Bizarre flavor combinations such as swordfish with peanut sauce did not work, and my Italian pasta w/ meatballs are much better. Upscale dining on one side, pickup scene in the bar area on the other. Dinner for four for $150?! More than an ouch-more like an emergency room visit. NIce restoration work however. Cons: , parking, annoying patrons more

Ready to wait! 8/11/2004

After a long wait, I must say we were disappointed with the food. Pricey and okay food not a good combo...great beer selection though! Cons: , Long wait more

Best Bar In Town 7/27/2004

My Girlfriend and I wondered in to Henrys about 2 months ago and absolutly loved it. From the cold strip at the bar to the wait staff to the food, this place is awsome. And with a full bar and 100 beers on tap everyone can find something to drink. Pros: Food,Beer Selection, Wait Staff, Decor, Happy Hour, Service more

Good food & beer selection: Service not 7/13/2004

Have been twice and while the food and beer selections are great, the service in the outside seating area has been poor each time. Both times had to stop and ask someone to take our order, even though we went at off peak times so it was not overly busy, and often had anywhere from 2-6 different servers during our time there. Hopefully it is only due to it being relatively new and the staff inexperienced. Pros: Good beer selection, Good food, Nice location Cons: , service, service more

Fabulous food, service and atmosphere! 6/13/2004

The food and drinks were so incredible here! I was so surprised. The pizzas are some of the best I've ever had and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommended. Pros: Great food, Great service, Good crowd Cons: , A bit expensive, Loud more

Super Cool 6/4/2004

It could be that I don't get to too many places in Portland, but I thought this place was awesome! I went on a Friday night to enjoy happy hour. Great happy hour menu and prices! I highly recommend the orange chicken. Also it may seem odd that there's macaronni and cheese on the menu. Don't be fooled though. It ain't no Easy Mac. It is very tasty! The place looks so cool and trendy. There was a very young trendy crowd. The service was fantastic! LOTS of wait staff around. It does get very crowded, so get there early. Great place to dress up classy sexy and strut your stuff. :) Pros: Great service, Happy hour apptz. $, Good Parking more

Get there early 5/19/2004

Outside is first come first serve, but inside take until 6:30 or so before a wait kicks in. Have to say our server was one of the best waitresses I've had since I moved to Portland. Very attentive, great suggestions - non of us were steered wrong. The beef tips and salmon were amazing. As was the fine selection of beer and spirits. Coupled with a nice crowd and hopping atmosphere - we loved it. We'll be back. Pros: food, service, booze selectoin Cons: , parking, cheese factor more

McCormick's meets pick up bar: Much fun! 5/14/2004

What a concept: Combine Newport Bay-like food with a slick interior, great bar and pool tables and you have the new Henry's. I enjoyed the people-watching as I sipped my Macallan scotch. Dinner was good, but amateurish: $22 entree delivered while still eating salad, hovering staff kept asking ""can I take that?"", referring to my plate, even though i wasn't done. Wine list has no vintages but some expensive bottles. Playing pool was fun..the staff keeps the number of people in the pool room under control so you can still work the table. Overall, a fun experience as long as you set your expectations appropriately. (It's no McCormick's but also no McMenamin's) Pros: Great scotch list, Great people watching, Pool tables Cons: , No wine list vintages, Staff needs training more

Similar to Stanford's 4/19/2004

Henry's is a cross between the decor/mood of Manzana's and the food of Stanford's. Alway good food and two pages of beers to choose from. Nice place, good service - I think I was just hoping for something a little different from the other PCR restaurants. The appetizers are a bit spendy at regular price, not sure about happy hour. The lounge is nice and they have billard tables and it will be packed during happy hour, I'm sure! Pros: food, beers, decor more
