Amazing food in awesome containers more

This place far exceeded my expectations. The eggplant appetizer (banjan) was so fresh and bright, great yoghurt sauce. The lamb lawand (no bone, lamb meg meat) was very good and the side was a great compliment. Nicely presented, as well, and solid containers that are definitely reusable and high quality. Essentially, this is a "restaurant" that delivers. Pun intended on the 'delivers'. more

The food is absolutely delicious! This was the first time we tried afghan cuisine. We ordered Seek Kabab Entree and Mourgh Challow Entree. The delivery was fast and the food was warm and tasty. We got great afghan bread and sauces with our entrees. We'll definitely order food from Helmand Palace again. more

This is one of my favorite places EVER. The food is incredible and always delivered hot and fresh by a very pleasant delivery person. The Kaddo is an absolute must-have!! All of the chicken dishes are incredibly tasty. I've also tried the meatball dish which was also amazing. EVERY SINGLE THING I've ordered from this restaurant has been just delicious. The best kept secret in the city. If you're thinking about ordering from this place, just do it. You won't be disappointed! more

The place looks plain on the outside but once you walk in you'll find yourself in a beautifully decorated upscale restaurant. All the food we tried was delicious and really made me fall in love with Afghani cuisine. Make sure you try their coffee! The service was great, we felt welcome and will definitely come back. more

I had visited the Helmand at their Broadway location many times, and I had always found their food very good. I had not visited their new location, so we decided to make reservations and check them out. When we showed up on schedule, the woman acting as host/waitress told us to wait 10 min, which I considered reasonable. The 10 minutes turned into 40 minutes. Not even once, the staff came to update us on the status of the table. I had to ask, and they took this as a huge inconvenience: they obviously do not like to be bothered with customers. The new staff does not seem to understand customer service. We eat out all the time, and I have never seen such a complete disregard for customer service before. It was not even the 40 min wait that bothered me, it was the staff's extreme rudeness. I will not return and with all the restaurants in the city, I will strongly discourage people from going there. Great food and prompt delivery. Second time we ordered and both times everyone was very pleased with the freshness and quality of the food.\r \r Downside? Both times we've received our orders, somewhat astonished by the packaging -- high quality but completely unsustainable (heavy duty plastics and styrofoam). I'd much prefer to throw whatever is left--containers and all--into my compost bin. more
