Heart of Texas Cremation & Burial Service $775 Cremation

I should have known that a low price meant trouble. Had my father picked up from hospice in Austin, and thought the price was too good to be true. I live in San Antonio and called these people to make an appointment. They told me I had to do the paperwork online--what? They we had planned a service for a few days later the answer was it will be a few weeks until we get to your father. We were told if we wanted something sooner we needed to 'go somewhere else'. Why could they not help us to get this resolved? It just seemed very unprofessional and we eventually had our father moved to another funeral home. It was not something that we wanted during this time of stress, and if I had to do it over I would not consider this place again. Then, I was looking at reviews in San Antonio where I live, and sure enough these same guys showed up under the name Cremation San Antonio with the exact same reviews posted here! Meaning, they are posting the same reviews under different names and dates--very unprofessional. Make sure to look into these people. more

I had a very good experience with Heart of Texas. They were kind, and worked with me patiently as I dealt with my mother's death. They made the process as painless as it could have been. My mother wanted her ashes turned into a reef-ball and used to rebuild coral reefs. Heart of Texas' low cost plan has made it possible for me to honor my mother the way she would like to be honored. more

My mother was the most wonderful person I ever knew. Caring, compassionate and always putting others first. Her illness and death were painful and drawn out, but she was thinking of us in planning her end. She was adamant that she be cremated and not a lot of money be spent on her funeral. She had searched the internet and told us this was the place to use because it was the best price she found. I must admit we were all hesitant. We wanted her to have a grand funeral with the biggest casket, flowers, etc. I was apprehensive about her choice, but in the end it was her choice and we chose to honor it. So, I went to Heart of Texas and visited with Mr. John Goodnight. After visiting with him and seeing their facilities I was more than pleased. I could not have asked for more comparing, compassionate service. We were pleased in every way and, I must say, I have instructed my family that they are to handle my service. I learned my mother was not only the kindest person I ever knew, but also one of the smartest. more

Dealing with the death of a loved one is a traumatic experience to say the least. The staff at Heart of Texas made things so easy for myself and my family. They were pleasant, courteous and very professional. Their facilities were inviting, comfortable and they had a wonderful selection of urns and other products. Their pricing on the cremation was so reasonable and their urns were very affordable. It is a comfort to know that my mother was cremated right onsite and was not transferred to another place. I can't say enough about this place. My entire family agrees that Heart of Texas will bury or cremate them but we are not ready yet. more

At first I thought a cheap cremation was a good thing. Not so much. One must really do their homework. After going by this place it was a warehouse and no place for my loved one. And on top of that it took forever to get all the way to South Austin 290 / Dripping Springs. When I called it was so rushed and as though low cost meant little service. Ended up at another place off Congress in Austin. more

This picture is clearly not from this place I walked into. I was a little concerned and that was validated when I met these folks. PLEASE do your homework before selecting! As my father once told me 'You get what you pay for"--yikes! more

I just returned home from speaking with the folks at Heart of Texas Cremation and Burial Service, and I was more than impressed -- I was greatly comforted. The time they took to explain everything to me, the kindness and sensitivity they showed, and the dignity with which they treat our loved ones made me feel very confident that I made the right choice for my husband. I was invited more than once to "Ask away" any questions I might have. We are limited in what we can afford, and they put NO pressure on me to spend any extra money. Really nice people, very compassionate and knowledgeable. This week has been a nightmare, and these people helped me find a little peace in this whole sad process. I highly recommend these folks. more

I am so glad we decided to use Heart of Texas Cremation and Burial Service. This was such a dificult time in our life, but the personal touch that was given made the process seem so easy. Our experience with this place was tasteless and heartless. Our family doesn't recommend this place to anyone who truly loves there loved ones. The customer service is without any compassion of loved one's feelings or pain. This faciltiy is all about rules and regulations and what best suites them since most services are pre-paid so any hearfelt compassion is dead. You did nothing to make this easy for us. You left my sister in the fridge for over a week after we pleaded and begged to have the delay checked. After we did our investigation and had all the loopholes fixed you still did nothing to take care of the cremation on a timely basis. You turned our grief into frustration and STRESS. When I die I absolutely do not want to be placed in your care. People check the funeral homes before you put your loved ones in their hands, sometimes paying just a little more gets you a little more compassion. I give this place a very low rating. I will be glad when we never have to deal with you ever again. My nicece was dumb for ever sending her mom to your facility. more

You did so many things-big and little to make a very difficult time so much easier. It was all noticed & greatly appreciated.
