I would like to provide you with feedback of the exemplary customer service my wife & I received today from your optician, Andrew at the Harvard Sq office.\r \r We have been loyal customers for many years, starting out at the Porter Sq location and most recently the Harvard Sq office - initially driven by the wonderful care provided by Walter (former optician) whom we were sad to hear recently departed from HSEC.\r \r Andrew, however, strongly convinced us today that we should remain loyal and committed to HSEC as his knowledge of the frames, lenses, insurance options, and the overall ordering process coupled with his kind, compassionate and customer centric demeanor won us over and we are here to stay!\r \r Andrew treated us as if we were ""family"" offering wonderful suggestions for frame style and fit as well as consumer best value. During our time, he even stepped up to make a number of calls to the insurance company and my optometrist to insure we received the true facts real time - this was impressive to say the least.\r \r Andrew's service today was amazing! He made the entire customer experience fun and enjoyable, and knowing that we got excellent value for a high quality product.\r more

Great Eyewear Selection 4/18/2012

I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a great selection of eye glasses that fit my style and budget. Convienently located in Harvard Sq. Harvard Sq. Eye Care has great staff, and a wide variety of beautifully crafted frames for great prices. They have eyeglasses made from Lindgerg to Zimco.Once again, I cant express enough how affordable the lenses and frames were. I got two pair of dymanic glasses for a low price.I would recommend Harvard Sq. Eye Care to everyone. Pros: null Cons: null more

Quite the class act! 3/25/2011

I have had such a wonderful experience at the Harvard Square Office. I have been going there for over two years now and Dr. Dickerman is the only one who has been able to get my prescription right, unlike when I was a patient at Mass General Eye Care. From the minute you walk in and see Mary?s warm smile to the time you walk out is a very pleasant experience. The staff?s care and professionalism is remarkable. I was in the office just today because I dropped my glasses and the lens popped out. Within just a few minutes they were fixed and I was ready to go! Harvard Square Eye Care has proven to be definitely a class act! more

give these guys a try 8/16/2010

Really great eyeglass frames! Without-a-doubt the best experience I have had with an eye care office. I originally went to Harvard Square Eye Care because they take my VSP insurance. They are the only one's in the square who take VSP and I work near there. I was happy with the exam that Dr. Ip provided. She took the time to know exactly what I needed for a prescription. It was the first time someone took the time to actually try out the prescription on me and I really appreciated her doing that. more

you should go 8/16/2010

I highly recommend Harvard Square Eye Care. I was walking by the window and noticed the Best of Boston sign. I needed a small repair on my glasses and ended up getting my pair fixed and buying a new pair because of their wide and stylish selection. They were very helpful, friendly and I'm definitely going to be a repeat customer. It's nice to visit a business with such a warm and personal approach to their clients. Even the doctor came out to say hello as she was in between patients to give me her quick opinion on my eye condition. I'm considering switching my care to her practice I was so impressed with her and her staff. Definitely give Harvard Square a try. Great location and personal service. more

best exam ever 8/16/2010

This is honestly the best eye care experience I have ever had. I went in because I saw their huge selection on the website. It turns out my prescription is 3 years old and no longer valid. I got a full exam and with my insurance ended up paying $10 for an exam. But the part that blew me way was their willingness to help me right then and there. Once we discovered my prescription wasn't valid they told me to go have a cup of coffee and they would squeeze me into the booked schedule in 20 minutes. I was floored. The exam was the most in depth vision test I have ever done. Once the exam was over I was brought out front and offered help by an optician to pick glasses. The selection here is fantastic. Tons of unique frames I have never seen anywhere else. Believe me I have looked. While looking the gentleman helping me(Clark) noticed the nose-pad on my own pair needed replacing. Before I knew it he had my glasses and was back with a new nose-pad for me. I was in a rush that day and couldn't shop for frames. I also wanted to bring my girlfriend back to help me decide. When I told him this I expected him to become curt and disinterested in helping me. That was not the case. He said he would write down the frames I had picked out in a book that way if I decided to come back there would be a record. I asked how much I owed for the repair and he refused to let me pay. 1 week later I came back with my girlfriend and I picked a frame I never would have chosen on my own but looks amazing. When we were done I was told in 2-3 days I would have new glasses. 2 hours later I was called to come and pick up my completed order. WHAT!? It turns out Clark had to make a trip to the lab in porter square that afternoon on unrelated business. The glasses were completed while he was there. I work across the street and had new glasses back the same day! I have never been more impressed with a purchase like this in my life. more

One Happy Customer 5/19/2010

I have never bothered to write a positive feedback letter like this, but my experience at Harvard Square Eye Care was so exceptional that I wanted to let you know how wonderful it was. I started wearing glasses when I was 7 years old, and was teased by my classmates because they said I looked nerdy. So I could not wait to get out of glasses, and when soft contact lenses appeared on the scene, when I was 25, I immediately switched to them. But they are a lot of work, and I have dry eyes, so I started again looking for glasses frames that looked good on me. 32 years later, I have 32 years worth of purchased and then discarded (because they did not look good) glasses behind me. I discovered Harvard Square Eye Care by googling glasses and Best of Boston, so I made the trek over there (from MIT, where I work), walked in, and announced to Clark Goodwin that I was probably on a mission impossible. But Clark immediately showed me some frames that he knew would look good on me, and he patiently customized the lenses so that they were as lightweight as possible (condensed glass), the right shape for my face, and would optimize my vision from very near vision to distance vision. Clark is awesome, very attentive, very upbeat, very good at explaining the technicalities of my customized glasses. I purchased the glasses and picked them up last week. They are amazing! Clark was right on; I look even better with glasses than without now. And my vision, compared to that with my contact lenses, is exceptional. No more reading glasses :-) These glasses are not going to be discarded -- the first pair I' have kept in 32 years. Harvard Square Eye Care stands out for the variety of quality options that one has for eyeglasses, but all the inventory in the world isn't going to make any difference if the service is poor. Clark gave perfect service; it could not have been better. Best of all, he eliminated the tension that I always feel when I shop for eyeglasses. Clark is a treasure; you need to know that. Keep him; he will keep me coming back again and again, as I look at sunglasses and other options available to me to supplement my eyeglasses. Pros: Excellent products. Excellent Service more

Excellent Service and great frame selection 5/8/2009

I was really happy with the choice of eyeglass frames. Clark and Alene, the eyeglass specialists were really honest about what looked good on me. I was choosing between two frames and they actually got me to purchase the less expensive frame than the one I would have chosen. The doctor was great especially helping me find the most comfortable contacts. I wouldl highly recommend this place because they really care. Pros: Friendly opticians, great eyeglasses, thorough doctor more

Horrible experience 3/7/2009

The doctor was fabulous, my exam went quite well. But do not even attempt to buy glasses from this place! The salesman was snooty, insulted my current glasses on several occasions, refused to tell me the prices of the frames I was looking at ("don't worry about the price, they are all within $25 of each other", when in fact there was a couple hundred dollars of difference). When I finally got him to sit down and calculate the price, he gave me a ridiculous number. When I asked him to break it down for me (ie, cost of frames, cost of lens, cost of protective coating) he got super defensive, pulling out a cost sheet and actually raising his voice at me. I actually had to tell him to stop for a second, that I think he misunderstood me somewhere along the way, and that all I had asked for was a breakdown of the pricing for that particular pair of glasses. He still refused, so I left. Pros: Good doctor Cons: Optician was rude, arrogant, demeaning, etc. more

Great selection and fantastic service 9/19/2008

This place is fantastic! I searched over ten other shops and none of them had the selection of designer frames that this place does. Gret selection and service. more

I never knew 9/12/2008

I live on the south shore but was in the Harvard Square area on business. My business meeting was delayed three hours (don't ask) so I walked around and realized that I hadn't had my eyes checked in over four years. I looked in various shops in the area but never got a good feeling regarding staff and selection. I was about to skip it and get something to eat when I found Harvard Square Eye Care. Pros: Excellent service & selection more

Not recommended... snooty staff, overpriced 8/31/2008

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. I went here because my daughter wanted something funkier than what was offered in mall shops, and their website claimed to have lots of frames for kids and to be kid-friendly. They actually had a very small selection of kids' frames, so she chose an adult frame. I could see this frame did not fit her properly, but the sales person assured us that they could adjust them for her. This did not prove true, as they were extremely uncomfortable. We went back several times to have them adjusted, and each time the same snooty guy got more and more sarcastic, I could actually see him rolling his eyes when we approached the store. We tried someone else at the shop and got the same treatment--- they didn't care at all, they'd already gotten their $425. My daughter was miserable and couldn't wear the glasses so I ended up making them change the prescription so I can use them as reading glasses, which they agreed to do at no cost (duh...) SKIP this place; you can get much better service and value elsewhere. more

Excellent service 5/29/2008

I recently had an eyecare emergency, and when I called my usual optometrist, I got an answering machine informing me that he was on an extended vacation. I was desperate to get a contact lens replaced and his office was completely shut down. I called Harvard Square Eyecare and was able to get an appointment with Dr. Cronin the next morning! I couldn't believe my luck. Pros: Convenient location, close to public transportation. Can usually get an appointment quickly. more

Highly Skilled, Great Experience 5/8/2008

I've had a fair number of eye exams in my day, and I can say that this one ranks at the top of my list. Foremost, the Dr. was committed to determining my exact prescription. She patiently switched back and forth between lens strengths when the difference was very small. At the end of the exam, the doctor used a redundant set of lenses (combined with my glasses) to settle the toss up. I had never seen this, and she kindly took the time to explain what governs the accuracies of each test. I was impressed. Some doctors I've had in the past "guessed" when the difference is close, or are curt when asked to switch back between lenses. If accuracy and attention to detail are important to you, this is your eye doctor. Pros: Very accurate exam, patient more

Great Family Owned Business - Caring Professionals! 5/2/2008

I have to rave about this place! The staff is fabulous. Everyone is incredibly helpful, and the doctor actually takes time to listen to your questions. She is very attentive to your needs and responsive - unlike so many doctors these days. Also, she takes the time to help you find glasses that are the best fit for your eyes AND your style. Definitely, the best eye care around... Pros: Doctor was caring and responsive. more

Great experience 3/10/2008

I am a patient of Harvard Square Eye Care for about 6 years. I think the Dr.?s are the most caring I have met. The office has great funky frames and they just purchased a lab to make their own glasses. My glasses used to take about a week to come in but my last pair took only 2 days?.and I saw some patients in the office were able to get them while they waited. The new lab has really made me want to recommend Harvard Square Eye Care?I hope you go there! Pros: Fast service, great staff and turn arond times more

Great customer service and kid friendly. 9/19/2007

My family has been going to Harvard Square Eye Care for the past several years and the service is always excellent. They have fitted my 3 children and my husband with glasses and we return every year because of their patience and professionalism. Dr. Dickerman is exceptionally good with my children and always makes them feel comfortable during the exam, which in my opinion is no easy task. They were also fitted with really cool glasses so it's no longer a chore to go to the eye doctor but a fun experience for the kids. If you are looking for great customer service I highly recommend Harvard Square Eye Care. Pros: Great glasses and friendly staff more

An eye opening experience 9/18/2007

I had an unusually good experience at Harvard Square Eye Care. The selection of frames was better than any I have seen in the Boston area. I purchased a pair of Beausoleil frames that the Optician helped me choose. I would not have chosen such a fashionable pair myself but now I love them and continue to get complimented on them. The doctors were professional and thorough. The staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Harvard Square Eye Care. Recommended to family and friends. Pros: Great selection, professional staff Cons: Did not accept AMEX more

Terrible Service, Rip-Off 8/26/2007

The staff is friendly but VERY unprofessional. The general sense I get is that they don't really care about their patients and are more interested in taking your money. Insult to injury, the service is terrible. Pros: Great selection of eyewear Cons: Everything else - overpriced, unprofessional service and staff, impatient, unwillingness to help, rip-off, etc. more
