Best

I love the Hodel !!!!!!!!

Worst

Oh my God. I have been here several times and each time I go back, I convince myself that I will get adequate service THIS time around. I do this because the wings are SO GOOD. No...

Way overrated. 3/4/2012

TERRIBLE service. I ordered a chicken cheesesteak and a salad and I was in there for 2 hours. Not only that, they messed up my order and gave me a buffalo cheesesteak. Plus, the food is very average. more

flat beer and cold wings - bad service 11/6/2011

A few times prior to the last visit we were not satisfied with the food, but considered that anybody can have a bad day. The last time, it was truly a disaster. The wings were spicy when we ordered garlic, the beer was flat and we had to alert the bartender that we were there as they didn't see us come in and after 20 minutes, decided to go to the bar to let them know. Service was really bad. more

Awesome Burgers, Crappy Service 10/22/2009

The food here is very good for the price. I had the best burger and onion rings at this place in a long time but it took forever to get the food and our waitress spent about 40 minutes getting our check......very frustrating. Try their takeout or go to enjoy a beer but don't be starving when you walk in....you'll be so hungry when you get your food you may passout before you do.... Pros: FOOD Cons: SERVICE more

Consistently horrible service 5/13/2009

Oh my God. I have been here several times and each time I go back, I convince myself that I will get adequate service THIS time around. I do this because the wings are SO GOOD. Note: once in a while the wings will come out crunchy and overcooked, but this is rare. The bar service is horrendous! Empty glasses and plates are no stranger to the bar and ***** the bartender seems too preoccupied to give a good God damn. I for one am sick of waiting for my next beer as my mouth sits burning from my last hot wing. Here's a tip to the owner (as if he gives a $#!+; he's probably making money hand-over-fist with this place): improve the service of your establishment. I have spent my last dollar in your joint until you make some kind of positive adjustment. I go to a bar to relax and enjoy myself, but every time I leave the Harleysville Hotel, I just feel stressed out, frustrated and disappointed. Also, how about putting more staff on duty? Or maybe opening up the upper floors for extra service space. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE NEGATIVES OF THIS PLACE!!! Pros: Wings are the BOMB 90% of the time Cons: service service service more

Tavern Style with A Twist... Good Food meets Reasonable Prices 12/2/2008

So here is the straight up deal on the Harleysville Hotel. First of all, reports of smokeyness must mean you haven't been there in a while, because the Hotel has been smoke free for months. The two weaknesses that are well known of the Hotel is that the service is often poor, and that wait times can be a problem because of the relatively small size of the building. The only criticism of the food the at I can distain is that the menu is sort of dated, and all over the place. However, what people often miss is that once you get past the best wings in Montgomery County, the dinners at the Harleysville Hotel are an excellent value, and all around pretty amazing food. The weekend dinner specials of late have been pretty superb... a good mix of seafood, poultry, and meats as entrees. A fresh vegetable selection weekly as well as fresh homemade soups that change daily are other things the hotel has done to really raise the bar in its food. I think that the new weekend dinner specials have really injected some class and sophistication into this tavern... especially Friday nights when the food seems to come out especially well. \r \r So here's the skinny, give it a shot... I think you will be surprised. Try something new... because at the Hotel the new stuff is often the best stuff. Even if the service leaves you feeling short, the food most often makes up for it. Pros: Weekend Specials, Homemade Soups and Salads, Great Prices. Cons: Service and Wait Time, and to a small extent the menu. Get some drink specials!!! more

best wings around 9/27/2008

I've only gotten wings for takeout, but they're GREAT! The Barbecue wings were excellent. Any postings about the place being smokey are outdated, as it is recently smoke free. Pros: great wings more

where not to go! 8/9/2008

The Harleysville Hotel is simply the worst service ever! I think the chef was on something because everything was horrible, the prime rib was a chunk of greasy over done rubber, the veal order was expensive gnarley and the potatoe order was also wrong...we never did get our vegetables...no one came to check on us we waited endlesslt for a waitress (who was horribly rude) to refil our drinks, I went home with a headache from the frustration and the SMOKE. Cons: smokey ,dingy, not updated, horrible waiting staff more

Good WINGS terrible service 5/28/2008

I have givin this place a chance time after time, because i feel that the bar itself is very nice and has alot of potential and I have to agree that the wings are good, BUT when you go into this bar you get the feeling that you are an inconvienence to the bartender (one particular) older blond haired women is the most miserable person i have ever come in contact with. Every time i go into the bar i am exceptionally nice to everyone but she makes for a very uncomfortable stay. I don't know what the other people are writing about but the service is the worst i have ever experienced. I guess the term ""Repeat customer"" has no meaning to this person or the management. I have sat there with an empty glass in front of me for 10-15 minutes at a time and she would look at me numerous times and walk right by me and help someone else that just stood next to me a few seconds ago. This happened not 1 not 2 not even 3 seperate times but 4 different days over the past year. Another example while she is not winning bartender of the year, is one day my buddy and i went there to watch the 76ers game and it was not on any TV so i asked very politely ""If you get a chance could you please put the 6ers game on one of the TVs?"" SO she grabs the controller and slams it on the bar in front of me. What a wonderful experience. SO if you go to this bar, it has a lot of potential but the waiting staff is very rude and i would prepare yourself to feel like your patronage is completely unapreciated. They will be lucky if my friends and I ever give them another dollar or refer our friends (and even enemies) to this establishment. Pros: good wings Cons: poor service, miserable bartender, parking, very uncomfortable feeling from the staff, very rude more

Tommy Likey! Tommy Want Wingy! 1/29/2008

This place has some of the best wings in the entire Philadelphia Area. I highly recommend the Spicy Garlic wings. The service is fantastic as well, and they'll bring you pitcher after pitcher of cold beer within seconds! The only thing that stinks are the bitter ""Small Town"" locals who kind of give you ""The Eye"" when you first walk in. Whatever, they leave you alone and you enjoy delicious food! Pros: Wings Wings Wings!!! Cons: Bitter Small Town Folks and the SMOKE!!! more

Overrated 12/28/2007

I'm not sure if the other reviewers got paid by the HH to write their comments, but this reviewer highly disagress with them. The service stinks, example, you wait to get watined on, food takes approx 45 minutes to come out and when you finally get your food, you get your appetizers with your main course, but not everyone gets served at the same time. 10minutes here, 5 miutes there. The food comes out eventually, sometimes with a crust on it because ot was under the lights too long. This happened twice, never again. The wings are good, when they are fully cooked, as I found out from picking them up take out for a party is was going to. The clients look like they have been sitting at the bar too long, if you know what I mean. Skip this one, definitely overrated. more

GREAT TAVERN FOOD 8/27/2007

This bar has great service, food, and libation. The wings are the best in Harleysville, if not anywhere for miles around. If you are in the Harleysville area, and you don't mind a smoke filled atmosphere, go here. Speaking of which, when Pennsylvania goes non-smoking in all of it's bars and public places, the Harleysville Hotel's business will take off. Pros: WINGS WINGS WINGS Cons: smoking more

Looking for a Great Restaurant/Bar 8/20/2007

If you are looking for a trifecta of Exceptionally GOOD food, reasonable prices, and a casual and friendly staff, the Harleysville Hotel is the place for you. Located on Main Street, in Harleysville PA, only a few miles from the Lansdale exit of the NE Extension, the HH is a nice place to go for a nice sit-down lunch or dinner, or to just relax at the bar and watch a game on one of their TVs.\r \r I've been dining at HH for over 6 years now, and have always left extremely satisfied. Wednesday NIght is their famous $8/All you can eat wing night. Which offers a variety of wings such as mild, medium, hot, suicide, Italian (italian dressing and garlic), garlic butter, BBQ, ranch, teriayki, etc. You can switch up from plate to plate. Aside from their wings (which are available every night - the special is only on Weds), other personal favorites include:\r \r Appetizers:\r Broccoli and Cheddar Bites - The best I've ever had. Fried to a crisp golden brown, this tasty appetizer comes with ranch or marinara sauce to dip.\r Leon's Garlic Clams - Sold at Market Price. Pitch in with a friend and order the large bucket. You won't regret it. \r \r Entrees:\r Open Face Sandwiches - You can get Roast Beef, Meatloaf, etc. You will get a heaping platter with fresh gravy smothering it. If you get fries on the side, ask for gravy on the fries. It is that good!\r Baskets - Chicken ,Shrimp, or a combo. Yes, Yes, and Yes! And don't be bashful to ask for some of that excellent gravy on your fries!!!\r Prime Rib (Fri and Sat Only) - It is a surprising treat. The one waitress recommended it and I deicded to give it a try. Nice size and a flavor to savor! I have gone back several times for it! I highly recommend it to anybody!\r \r Drinks:\r I like the birch beer. It has a sharp and crisp flavor. If you are dining with a few guests, split a pitcher! If you looking for alcohol, they have draft and bottled beer, along with a variety of mixed drinks!\r \r GO TODAY!! You can thank me later! Pros: The food is great! Affordable w/ friendly service. Cons: Many smokers at the bar. Seating at or near the bar can be a bit smoky! more
