Best

Whenever I need a sausage and sauerkraut fix I head over to Gustavs! Yum- Yum! Try the trio sausage plate. Pros: great food

Worst

We used to go to Gustav's for years. It is just down the street, so we would be there once or twice a month. Not anymore. The service has always been slow (but friendly). Now the ...

We love Gustav's! 5/4/2005

We've been going to Gustav's regularly for quite a few years. The food and beer are excellent. For an appetizer, have the cheese fondue and sausages! For lunch or a light dinner, I love the Curried Turkey & Mango Salad, as well as the Bier Onion Soup. The Schnitzels are wonderful and I LOVE the Apricot Glazed Pork. I have tried much of the menu---usually all selections are excellent. They also offer a monthly menu, which lends a nice change. I had an excellent duck pasta a few years ago---hope to see it again! They have great desserts too! Be prepared to wait for a seat most nights---it's worth it! If you wait in the lobby instead of the bar, sample the lemonade during the summer months and hot apple cider during the winter. The staff is usually excellent also---very attentive, knowledgable and honest. Love their outdoor dining patio too! Pros: Value, Outdoor Dining Cons: Parking, Group seating limited, No reservations more

Will Definitely Be Back 1/13/2005

We just got back from having lunch at Gustav's and really enjoyed it. My wife, who has German parents, said the food was quite authentic and the portions are generous. We particularly liked the tasty potato pancakes, potato salad, and beets. We look forward to going back for happy hour soon. We liked this place much better than the Berlin Inn that we recently tried since the food is much better and the ambiance is a lot more fun. Pros: Authentic, Tasty, Nice atmosphere more

Save us from this! 8/12/2004

Luke warm food, oversalted and with no redeeming qualities--reminded me of my school cafeteria. Sausage was tepid, chicken schnitzel dry and starchy, crab cakes gooey and flat. We began our visit with a Server announcing his name and his intention to wait on us. After a 25-minute wait he finally arrived with our orders. In between, he didn't approach our table. When I placed a twenty-dollar bill with the check, he asked if we wanted our change. Stay away--the food is only possible if you leave it all on your plate. Pros: Builds character, Good for masochists Cons: , Service, Food more

where's my damn bread? 2/18/2004

service is generally very friendly and accomidating, only problem is that you have to beg for bread when it's supposed to come with your meal. so annoying! but the food is excellent and the place is cute and 9 times out of time the waitstaff is super friendly and sweet. also, take a little tour of the rheinlander when you're there, it's pretty charming. Pros: food, atmosphere, service Cons: , chkn alfredo spaetzle more

Sample via Happy Hour 11/14/2002

Great way to sample the variety is obviously via the Happy Hour menu. I didn't think the Caesar Salad with chicken schnitzel was all that, but fondue under $4 is the deal. Also try the potato pancakes which are not on the Happy Hour menu, but only $2.95. For a real meal try the shrimp and crab cakes and the traditional Wienerschnitzel. The place gets crowded, but that should tell you something. Although I'll keep coming back to this place, I still give the edge to the Berlin Inn on 12th & Powell. Pros: veal schnitzel Cons: Caesar salad, wait more

I love to say ""schnitzel"" 9/3/2002

Happy hour is great. I recommend the chicken schnitzel caesar and the fondue. Friendly servers, good food and great prices. more

Simply the BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8/23/2002

I could go on all day telling you how good this place is. In a nutshell it is the best resturant I have ever eatin at. Pros: good food, great service, good drinks more

scrumptious fondu 8/8/2002

Gustav's is the place to go for happy hour and a football game. Bring some friends down and grab a burger and a beer. It's always a nice place to go if you like watching the chickens roast. Service is great and it's a great place to go if you live near it. Pros: Good Music, Good Atmosphere, Inexpensive Cons: Parking more

Mmm, fondue 7/29/2002

When you needa fondue fix, this is the place. You can also get it with sausage, which is a bonus. Gustav's is a great place for groups. Food is fairly cheap (it gets really cheap during happy hour) and generally good, though everything on the menu is guaranteed to add 5 lbs. to your waistline. The beer selection is huge, and there's nothing better than drinking it out of the big fat steins. Pros: big portions, good prices, big beer selection Cons: usually a wait more

Great German food 7/8/2002

If you want to go for a great German meal try Gustav's! Perhaps the only downside to eating here is trying to choose from their generous menu. I would recommend trying one of the combination dinners such as the Party Feast so that you can sample a little of each of the more popular menu choices. A visit isn't complete without an order of cheese fondue with sausage as an appetizer. Gustavs is located conveniently close to Clackamas Town Center Mall and is the perfect end to a day of shopping! Pros: Excellent Food, Great For Families, Great Beer Selection Cons: Crowded, Can Be Noisy, Limited Parking more
