Dr Johnson will try to soak you for as much money as he can, trying to do procedures and tests that your pet doesn't need. Be prepared for sticker shock every time you see him.

Great care but can be expensive 1/6/2010

I have had experience with both Dr. Vaught and Dr. Johnson. Both are very experienced and knowledgeable. Dr. Johnson basically saved our dog's life during a recent very scary incident. My only real complaint are some of the fees. Just to see the doctor it immediately costs $50 over and above everything else that happens. The doctor told us to bring the dog back for a follow up and it cost $50 again plus a blood test. The follow ups should be lower cost or free especially if its doctor requested. I really can't complain too much though. Both Dr. Vaught and Dr. Johnson are good at what they do and as with anything else, you get what you pay for. The higher costs, in this case, do actually equate to better care for your pet. more

Just wonderful to deal with 9/6/2008

Great Northwest has been treating my Basset Hound for a little over a year and I wouldn't take her anywhere else. They treated us like family during the first visit. They are open 6 days a week and I've never had a problem getting an appointment that was convenient. If it's an emergency they tell you to come right over and your pet is seen immediately. Their prices are quite reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone. more

Everyone I have dealt with at Great Northwest Animal hospital is very nice and knowledgeable. Dr. Vaught is amazing and I can not say enough nice things about this hospital. They even call to follow up the day after a visit!!! I Pros: staff, office, friendliness Cons: none more

Extremely caring doctor!! 11/9/2006

I just moved down here and needed to find a vet for my kittens. Dr. Vaught is the most caring vet I have ever met -- she is very patient with silly questions and actually calls the day after a visit to follow up!! We actually had an emergency one night and we called the emergency number and she called back immediately! I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Vaught and the entire staff at Great Northwest! more

Greatest Animal Hospital of them All 11/1/2006

Dr. John Johnson has run an outstanding practice at the GNW Animal Hospital, truly the greatest of all that I know in SA. I've had dogs of all breeds all my life and my last two dogs have both been AKC Siberians. My latest has had problems, first w/Kidneys, then liver. Always the treatment has been top quality; patient thorough explanation, alternatives explained, financial alternatives discussed, and the highest quality care possible has been given in the most frienly and caring atmosphere. I highly recommend this bussiness to others. PROS: Top notch care, professional, family atmosphere CONS: Expensive Care more

Great Veterinarian Office 6/7/2005

The doctors and staff at this location are very helpful and understanding. I adopted two kittens from their adoption center and have also taken my dog in for treatment. He was very sick and we thought he wasn't going to make it. The staff was so nice and reassuring. The were so gentle with our dog, and he pulled through just fine. They also have a large variety of pet supplies for sale. Highly recommended. more
