I LOVE Gothic Cabinet Craft. The furniture styles are simple, clean and classic. I pick the style I like, then I pick the wood and wood stain. Different woods have distinguishing features in their grain such as knots or lines, and they also take the stain differently. There's a display of all the woods stained with all the colors so I can see how every wood/stain combination can look. Over the years, the same product lines, woods and wood stains are available so that I can buy pieces now that match things I bought in the past, and can be assured to find compatible pieces in the future.\r

Years ago when my kids shared a room I bought Gothic's captain's bunk beds because they were extremely sturdy and could be separated later into individual captain's beds, which we did end up doing. That was a total success. Since then we've bought a queen captain's bed, bookcase headboards, a nightstand, chests of drawers, a sofa table and kitchen chairs. In August 2010 Gothic began a lifetime warranty policy which doesn't cover all my furniture purchased before then, but it really doesn't matter because every single piece is holding up really well and looking good. I didn't know until recently that the furniture is made in New York, and that's a big plus for me because I support local business, especially manufacturing.\r

If you go to the Flatbush Avenue & Avenue P location, ask for Neeka. I've never met a salesperson more knowledgable, outgoing and helpful than Neeka. She's only there certain days of the week, so call ahead. And check their ads in the newspaper or view it on their website--good deals!
