The secret to finding parking and getting timely service at Gilbert's is to schedule an early or late lunch. I went in for lunch at 1:30 on a weekday, and found plenty of curb parking and seating. Also, my lunch of matzoball soup and half corned beef sandwich was delivered almost as soon as I sat down and begin flipping through the newspaper. Although you know you're in Swellevue and not Manhattan when you're paying nine bucks for a bowl of matzoball soup, it is delicious, and feels fabulous on a cold, miserable, rainy day. The corned beef was divine enough to convert a vegetarian -- fresh, lean, neither salty nor oily -- and the rye bread was fresh, thick-sliced and absolutely delightful. Service was friendly.
Pros: Home-cooked food, generous portions, few good delis around
Cons: Prices, Limited parking
