Awesome cut, friendly staff, and fun atmosphere. 5/27/2011

This is a small salon hidden on the chestnut street of what I find normally to be crap. I went in without an appointment on a crazy day and they gladly helped me out. Sandra gave me a great cut and the rest of the staff was very nice. The place was well kept, fun products i have no idea how to use. I will be back. more

Kwandee is THE Man! He finally gave me the color I've been asking colorists to give me for years. I'm blonde and it's not easy to get just the right shade, tone color for eyes, complexion, etc. Kwandee gave me the straight scoop right away...it was going to take at least 2 visits to clear up years of mistakes. I feel like I found El Dorado! Pros: Professional and friendly staff, excellent hair products, Cons: Can't think of one more

Sylish modern hair care 12/4/2007

I've been going to Genray's in Rockridge for several years and have recently moved over to the Chestnut site. I love the modern decor, and the efficient service I receive. Since the transition from Ole's, the new owners have remodeled and set up a stylish atmosphere where I get hair coloring and great new cuts from Genray. Vanessa has done wonders with a new technique of waxing as well. I can't wait until they get Bumble and Bumble products in their store. Pros: Great efficient service, ambience, fun music Cons: parking is difficult on weekdays, but it is the city! more

Since Genray took over Oles Hair Design the new owners have infused the culture with a fun, customer service focused experience. I have had my hair cut and colored by Vanessa, Julie, and Genray at different times and I love them all. I have agreed to make appointments with all of them, because they all have great techniques and different style. I love the fun dance music, they carry bumble and bumble, which I LOVE, and they also make me feel at home no matter what. If you want a great cut, fun energy, and real service oriented folks TRY THEM. Pros: Fun atmosphere, Great Staff, Priced just right!! Cons: That I can Only get my hair done once a month, cause it grows so slow..... more

Best Highlights in town! 9/12/2002

I live in the Marina and have known this place since the beginning! I always get the best highlights from Joanne! Ralph and Ruth are the owners and are great! It is nice to hang out and get caught up on what is going on in the neighborhood. I get constant compliments on my hair and I refer everyone to Ole's!!
