Karoake Bar in the Westside 9/26/2005

The Gas Lite is a bar by day and karoake bar by 9pm. They have karoake every night and there are a bunch of locals that come out and sing to their hearts content. They have happy hour every night from 5 to 7pm and their specials are $2.50 well drinks (which means one hard alcohol mixed with another beverage) and draft beers. Also, they have free popcorn and entertainment. Entertainment being the real good as well as real bad karoake singers. I suggest that if you want to have a karoake night with your friends, come early so that you can have your chance on stage before the night crowd comes in... or come during the week for your opportunity to shine. It's a fun place and I would go again. more

  • The Scene
    This dimly lit, corner bar borrows its decor scheme from a '70s-era lounge during Christmas season, with twinkling lights and tinsel hanging year round. Red vinyl booths, mirrored walls and a long, dark wood bar round out the modest and masculine interior. A no-nonsense bartender pours martinis and scotch to a mostly male crowd playing interactive trivia during the day. By 10pm, the place is overrun with a lively UCLA crowd pounding beers and dancing the night away.

    The Draw
    Catch talented blues artists every Friday through Monday night. The intimate setting promotes an infectious musical energy, and after a few tunes, most of the crowd is clapping along with the band. On weekends, the dance floor is packed, and it's standing room only by 11pm. Karaoke nights, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, attract talented baritones and drunken warblers alike. Amateur comics perform on Wednesdays.
