I got a Groupon to go to this for a house tour and it was awesome. Architecture and history was great. It was as good as the European castle tours I've taken. I'm looking forward to seeing more historical homes in Pasadena now I know they're there. more

You'll be awed 11/20/2007

If you're an art or architecture lover, the Gamble House is a must stop ""attraction"" in So Cal. The open hours are very few and far between...but just wandering the property when they're closed can be an awe-inspiring experience. Just standing at the front door with the beautiful stained glass side panels is worth a visit. Any admirer of the Arts & Crafts movement would appreciate this house. From the way the roof is constructed to the amazing design and construction of the inside staircase...it's just wonderful. Just the beauty of the materials is amazing...let alone the actual construction of the house. These days, I think the University of Southern California administers the property and the tour hours. If you've got a lazy day off...check it out. Pros: architectural beauty Cons: limited open hours more

Disappointed 2/9/2007

I was very disappointed with the docent's lack of knowledge. I asked a simple question which could not be answered. I asked, ""What happened to the Original Stove?"" and her response was ""I don't know!"" That to me is not an acceptable answer and she did not try to find the answer. Pros: Parking Cons: questions can't be answered, admission not worth the tour. more

Arts & Crafts 5/20/2002

A must for locals as well as tourists, the Gamble House will, simply, make you drool with envy and swoon with admiration. Evincing a craftsmanship that far exceeds anything imaginable today, the house hearkens back not only to Pasadena's Golden Age, but to a time in which whole rooms could be designed around a single vase and design wasn't something you did on computers. Truly a magnificent achievement. more
