Best

After Squeaky Bean you'll find the next best restaurant in Denver at Fruition. The service and food is impeccable.

Worst

My husband and I picked Fruition on the reccomendaton of a few friends. We are very involved in the Denver restaurant scene, and couldn't belive that we waited so long ot experien...

Great food, great location! 9/12/2007

We were debating visiting one of our usual haunts or trying someplace new for dinner last night, and I'm glad we ventured out! Fruition is a great place with great ambiance! Small tables (it's a bit crowded with tables close together, but it makes things intimate) and small ever-changing menu made the evening. Paul greeted us and seated us promtply on a busy Tuesday evening in which we didn't have reservations (try and get a table by the windows so you can watch the 6th Avenue activity go by).\r \r The wine list is superb (though not very large), with good by-the-glass selections. They still had the summer menu - we had the beef and the barramundi (fish). Fantastic!\r \r It's a very unassuming place in a great location. A great date place! Put this wonderful restaurant on your ""to-do"" list ASAP! Pros: unique menu, well-designed wine list Cons: tables close together means you're a part of your neighbors conversations more

The Best Restaurant in Town 9/5/2007

We don't get out very often. It's the sad truth. We have two little ones at home, and time, energy, and money are at a premium. So I feel compelled to say that essentially any time we can manage to make a break for it, Fruition is out destination. Each time we have been back the food has been sublime, and amazingly, continues to get better. There has not been a single item short of outstanding on the menu. The atmosphere and the service, from Paul at the front door to Alex and Drew in the kitchen, make us feel simultaneously at home and pampered. I cannot say enough good things -- you have to experience it yourself. Most recently, the lemon meringue pie is still making me salivate...this is about as far from the old standard as it is possible to get. Plan to spend some time and savor a cozy, romantic evening. Pros: ambience, everything on the menu, Paul more

LOVE IT!! 8/5/2007

We were greeted and seated promptly. This is quite a change from Somethin' else. Service was fabulous. The food even better. I can't stop talking about the oyester dish the chef prepares. This restaurant is fairly priced and just charming. Thank you for a wonderful meal. more

Fabulous Dining Experience with my Girlfriends 8/1/2007

Three of us came out for dinner and WOW. The dining experience reminded me of my summer in southern France where the food is phenomenal, the tables tiny, the service fantastic and the ambiance unpretentious and inviting. We lingered for three hours. A glass of sparkling Francois Montand Rose started us as we layered on the English Pea Shoot Salad, Pasta Carbonara and Oysters Rockefeller. The lemon cured salmon in the salad is delicate and a perfect compliment to the fresh pea shoots. It tastes like summer. The Carbonara is delightfully ?unmixed? I said out loud (and was immediately corrected by my foodie friend to say that the correct term is ?deconstructed? ? I?ll blame the temporary insanity on the carbonara!) with a wonderfully soft boiled egg perched precariously over the top of an amazing morsel of pork belly and surrounded by cavatelli pasta, although a tad bit firm in my humble opinion?all of it resting in a flavorful broth. I carefully stacked each element on my fork and it was a bite of heaven. The Oysters Rockefeller was plated expertly and imaginatively within little potato wraps and the sauce with that dish is terrific, too. I am starting to realize by this time that this restaurant really stands out. Then, for dinner?suffice it to say that we each enjoyed our main courses, but the absolute standouts were the duck breast and tender prime beef culotte. The beef is decorated with the most amazing duck fat french fries, and sorry, we overhead the server explanation to the next table over, it comes only with the main course ? no sides of fries available. I wanted to chime in that they ought to order it anyway, even if they were not hungry enough to eat the beef, but I kept that thought to myself. For dessert?cupcakes and lemon meringue (thank you, Chef!) and should I even get started about the meringue? Another WOW. Exceptional wines, standout food, excellent service and overall a wonderful dining experience. Thank you Fruition! Pros: Inviting, charming restaurant where it's all good: service, food, ambiance, wines... Cons: Although not ideal for large parties, at least assemble a party of four so you can trade bites. more

great food bad service 6/28/2007

The food was great I would love to come back, but the service was so bad I dont think I will. 20 plus minutes to get the dessert menus then even longer to get the check. Just because we didnt fit the foodie sterotype or ask about the art work on the wall( that the server did) he could have cared less. Sorry fruition. Your food rocks, your host was awsome, the support staff was great. but I just got a bad waiter that left a worse taste in my mouth. more

Excellent Food, Great Service 6/18/2007

During a recent visit to Denver, a local resident suggested I try Fruition for dinner. From the moment I made my reservation until we paid the check and left, everything about this restaurant was pleasant. The food was delicious and the service was experienced (gave good recommendations) and attentive without being overbearing. I wish I had a neighborhood restaurant like Fruition in NYC! more

Can't Wait to Go Back! 6/3/2007

I was so impressed from start to finish at Fruition. I've worked in the dining industry for 17+ years and this is my first online review. Though a bit embarrassed to admit that, particularly because I've enjoyed many wonderful meals in the U.S. and abroad that were deserving, I do think it says something about my exceptional Fruition experience. My date and I shared the Fruition salad, oysters rockefeller, beef culotte, the duck breast and the vanilla pudding - perfectly prepared, wonderful flavors, lovely presentation. Our server, Geoff, was warm & professional as was Paul, the maitre'd. I'm so looking forward to going back again and have been thinking about the duck since that night! Pros: food, menu selection, service Cons: tables very close together more

GREAT for a FOODIE! 5/27/2007

This restaurant is everything that everyone says about it. Fresh. Delicious. Outstanding. Creative. Perfect food for a foodie. Love the wines. Just a terrific place in so many ways. The owner makes you feel very welcome. Make sure to have reservations. Pros: Food food and more food! Fresh & creative. Wonderful wine. Cons: Space is cramped. Not a good table in the place Dislike the coffee. more

Well executed food from everywhere 5/1/2007

Well done boys, honestly well done. I am typing this review one hour after finishing a five course meal at Fruition and its all good. Halibut Cheeks and Potato Wrapped Oysters Rockefellar are to die for. When our entrees arrived we realized the true diversity in the menu. My girlfriend had the Sole with artichokes and truffled hollandaise, super classical French, and I had baked beans with Pork Confit, cornbread and coleslaw, good ol' American food. Looking at the two dishes next to eachother was really impressive. Nice fresh beets and beautiful house made Lomo, well done chef for taking advantage of our climate. Cure any meat and I will gladly enjoy it. Pros: Food and Service Cons: cramped more

GREAT DATE PLACE!!!!!! 4/16/2007

if your a fan of Table 6 or Il Posto you gotta check out this quaint restaurant. Good Comfort food and tremendous service! Price is very reasonable from their wine list thru their main course. Parking can be a bit tricky here since its around a residential neighborhood but its well worth it.\r \r Try the Rabbit Stew and their Beef Coullete!!! \r The staff and service is a definite A Plus\r \r Keep it up! Pros: Ambiance , Food, Service Cons: Parking, no bar area or seating area more

WOW 4/1/2007

I have only recently moved back to Denver after a four year absence and have never been to Mizuna or Rioja. If I had, I would not care because I don't think Fruition's similarity to any other place would lower my opinion. If you are looking for delicious, beautiful, well-executed, sophisticated fare and very reasonable prices then you should definitely give Fruition a try. My husband and I each had a nice glass of wine, a starter, an entree, dessert, and lovely french press coffee for around $140 tip and tax included.\r \r The interior is lit with many candles in addition to subtle lighting and has a pleasant intimate glow with its red walls and wood floors. There is a lot of attention to detail here. Even the bathrooms have thoughtful little touches. I agree that the waitstaff have a bit of challenge moving around the small space with its many tables but it did not bother me. \r \r The service was excellent. Friendly, attentive, prompt, knowledgeable, unobtrusive. I have absolutely no suggestions in this area. \r \r For starters we had the carbonara and oysters rockefeller. We were in heaven on the first bite. I agree with the other diner that it was so good that words fail me. The food was prepared with minute attention to the overall flavor created by the different seasonings, cooking techniques, and textures. Every bite was blissful. Of course, I had to try the butter poached salmon after reading the reviews here. It was delicate and subtle and wonderful. My husband had the duck with risotto, which was a bit daring and bold and equally delicious. For dessert my husband had the vanilla bean pudding and I had the butter pecan bread pudding with caramel sauce and banana ice cream. The caramel had just enough butter and salt and tasted just right with the banana ice cream. \r \r A lot of people knew each other there so perhaps a lot of friends are helping to get the restaurant going. Denver should be so lucky to keep this restaurant. Give it a try! Pros: Amazing food, beautiful interior, great service, great value, free street parking Cons: Very new, get in while you still can more

Imitation is the best form of flattery 3/20/2007

Beautiful room, good service--everything here is really a tribute to Mizuna, though. I'd like to go back in a few months when they've found their own identity . . . more

Like Mizuna - except better, more affordable and more comfortable 3/16/2007

Like Mizuna - except better, more affordable and more comfortable\r \r You can feel the passion in the place. And I hate the word ""passion"". These guys love what they do and so do the staff. I ate there after about three weeks, they certainly have a few tweaks yet. But they asked and we told them and they thanked us for the honest feedback. This place will be great.\r \r The wine list is nice and well priced. The Wallace Brook Pinot at $40 was a great bottle.\r \r The Oven Roasted Beat Carpaccio was amazing, but the Pork Shoulder Confit was a little dry. The Butter Smoked Salmon was amazing, even for a non salmon lover. The Braised Rabbit was a huge success.\r \r The service was attentive, but not over bearing. You might recognize a few faces from Mizuna and Rioja, but this place is their own. It will be one of Denver's best. Pros: Small, quaint, affordable and very comfortable. No pretense, just great food. Cons: Very new, but working very hard. more

The most memorable eating experience we've ever had! Well... wait a minute... maybe not... 2/20/2007

When my husband and I received our meals and took our first bite, we both looked at each other with sheer delight! I had the butter poached salmon with beet spaetzle and he had veal cheeks with polenta. Both dishes were so outstanding I don't even have a word for them. We then had dessert. I had the vanilla bean pudding and he had the apple pie. Fabulous. When we got our ticket, we were further surprised by the very modest cost. I was expecting a much higher price tag because the service was absolutely impeccable and the atmosphere is classy, cozy and refined without being stuffy. We so completely enjoyed our total experience here, we cannot wait to go back and will make it a regular visit. Please do yourself a favor and visit this wonderful little place! It's truly marvelous!!!\r \r Addendum: We returned to the restaurant with my cousin from Florida and his wife last August (2007). While the food was just as excellent, the service was not. We'd made our reservations, showed up on time and still wound up waiting and waiting and waiting for each course to be served. We could not get more bread, refills on our drinks or our waitress' attention and we left feeling very disappointed and a little bit embarassed. We'd bragged the place up so much and then felt very let down by the somewhat neglectful yet rushed and rude service. This is NOT the experience we had the first time around so we wondered if Fruition has just gotten too busy and therefore cannot pay as close attention to their customers as they did in the beginning. I do not know if we will take the time and effort to come back considering we have to drive 100 miles to do so. :( Pros: Great Food!!! Cons: Parking is a bit tricky. Service can be slow and neglectful. more
