Service has gone down the tubes - Stay away for now 5/22/2012

We have been a client with Shawnee for over 15 years. they have been great, but in the last two months it has been horrible. They fax to the wrong bussiness when given the right numbers and even a cover sheet, they send in the wrong scripts, seem rude on the phone and you have to ask for things more than twice. I am not sure what is going on, but Shawnee Medical Center in Shawnee has gone the tubes, I hope they get their act together soon, or we wil;l be forced to go elsewhere. I guess with healthcare customers no longer matter, they can always just fill the appoint with someone else, but for now I would stay away from this place, it very very bad. more

I find it very hard to believe the story with the bad experience - espexcially as his wife is so ""sweet and perfect..."" I have worked in a physician's office and I can tell you there are patients who come in like the world owes them a living and they want to see how high you will jump for them. That being said, all I can say say is you cannot find a better place to get good care. I can honestly say that I have only ever seen Ann Romanowski who is the CRNP there and I wasn't crazy about Dr Foster's personality. However, I think Ann is probably as good as or better than any other physician I have ever been to. Always on the ball with labs, problems, concerns, etc. As a further testament, a friend of mine who has always been health and at age 55 FINALLY decided to see a physician (he absolutely has always hated doctors of ANY kind and refused to go no matter how he was feeling) FINALLY went to see Ann for a check-up on my recommendation and absolutely loved her. She diagnosed him with lung cancer - he is fine now- but he never would have known if it wasn't for her just thinking something might be wrong (no symptoms) - so she asked for some tests and now he is fine....I can honestly say sometimes the office people (front desk) can be a little abrupt - but usually they are okay unless you give them an attitude...then they try but sometimes it is impossible to explain to some people that the world is not their oyster! I would recommend this practice - especially Ann - unhesitatingly!!!! more

New Patient - Bad Experience 7/13/2011

My wife was looking for a doctor for a while and ideally she wanted a female doctor. Well, that was pretty hard so she ended up finding this doctor who is male but it is about 5 min. from our house.. I called to ask if they were part of my insurance group and the people in the office couldn't tell me, even after I read all the info on the insurance card. No big deal...I ended up driving there to check out the place, show them my insurance card and set up the appt. I was happy to find out they had nurse practitioners (which I had not much knowledge of) who were female and that I could schedule an appt. for my wife with one of them. All was great and we were happy to have found someone. Until...I talked with my wife and we wanted to inquire if there was a later appt. because my wife gets paid by the hour and any time off is deducted. They told me there was one a week later..... but the time slot was not much different. So I told them that I'd talk it over with my wife and not to change it....just leave as is. I never called back because we decided she should just lose the hours and go to the original appt. Here's where it all changed. When my wife, so peaceful, happy and go lucky, showed up, they told her someone had called and rescheduled. She told the receptionist, or whatever they are, that it couldn't be. The lady was not nice at all and sternly told her that her computer said so and pretty much that was the end of that. My wife called me and told me, so I asked to speak with this lady. My wife got back on the phone and told me she said she didn't want to speak to me because there's nothing to talk about....WOWE!. I called the office directly and explained the situation and was hoping that, given the circumstances and an error on their side, they would accommodate my wife. She seemed not to acknowledge NOR CARE ABOUT IT and they didn't care that we would lose a day's work. She said the schedules were air tight and she couldn't do anything about it. My wife said that while she was at the office, the one lady turned and asked another one in their staff if she had any recollection about this. The other lady, facing the other direction, just replied 'Nah' and shrugged her shoulders without any care in the world for my wife or even acknowledging her presence or hinting any desire to help. My wife kindly said she wasn't coming back but they just didn't seem to care. My wife sounded like she had tears in her eyes because she's very gentle and was pretty upset about this. I called again later to put a complaint, so they had me talk with the office manager. I explained the situation again nicely but when I told her we weren't going back there, she simply replied 'that's your prerogative sir, good luck' in a harsh tone. My wife and I think that they could've worked with us and talked to the dr., whom I don't think they ever informed of anything, and maybe see if they could accommodate us that day or scheduled in a way that was co more

Best Mediacl Group 11/24/2010

When our family moved up to this area we had no idea what doctors were around, we had asked different people and they suggested Shawnee Medical. So we gave it a try. Well that was about 2 years ago, and to this day that is the same doctors that we go to. I was diagnosed with diabetes back in 2002 by a different doctor, I was fighting to keep my sugars down all the time. Well since I have been going to the Shawnee Medical, my sugars have been on the right track. Thanks to them getting the right medicine combination for me. They have helped our whole family since we have been up here, and we would not trade them for anyone else. The doctors are very understanding and give great advice. The staff is just so wonderful too, very helpful and for the most part usually smiling when you see them. more
