Go Hungry 11/2/2006

This place is great. It has a great salad bar, with lots of different things to choose from. The meat selection is fabulous. I ate so much, and wanted to stay all day to enjoy all the different food they have to offer. It's only 50 dollars per person, and you can eat all you want...It's a great deal. The capiherenas are the best....viva Brazil Pros: Food, Salad Bar more

Wow 11/2/2006

The Best of Everything! 9/4/2006

I've dined here twice. Both times, the food, service, drinks, dessert were excellent. The staff was gracious and kind. The only thing that disapponited me was the other patrons that came in wearing flip flops and shorts. That was annoying! It just took away from the overall atmosphere. The Keylime Pie was amazing so were the Kamikaze Cocktails, the best! People with below standard skills in dressing, will not keep me away! Pros: the food, the staff/service Cons: tacky people allowed in more

Original Brazilian churrasco. 8/10/2006

How can you go wrong with one of the original Brasilian churrascarias. When I lived in Brasil, I frequented Fogo de Chao there and was ecstatic that they finally opened one here in the greater LA area. I have been to the ones in Dallas, Atlanta, and Chicago whenever I traveled to those areas for business and now, finally, I can go to one here in LA. The meat is excellent, superbly tender and rightly marinated. (for the person who thought that this was salt lick, well, guess what, the marinating is salt called sal grosso in Portuguese. so don't ever eat brasilian churrasco again.) The ambience is very typical of the other Fogo de Chaos and it really makes you feel welcome. The service is magnificent with the servers waiting in line to get their cuts of meat on your plate. So meat, meat, meat, meat, and that is exactly why you go to this place. The only complaint that I have is that there are certain cuts of meat that they serve in Brasil, but don't serve here in America, like chicken hearts, and cupin. I was informed that cupin is not served because in America, all the shots are administered through that part of the cow, so cupin is not allowed to be served. A shame since that is a very tender and delicious cut of meat. About chicken hearts, it seems that Americans just haven't developed a taste for it and so it was Fogo de Chaos decision not to serve it. Oh well. Otherwise, you just can't beat the original Brasilian churrasco, just the way that it is made in Brasil. The only reason I give this Fogo de Chao a 9 is because I can't get the cuts of meat that I could in Brasil. Too bad. Pros: Authentic churrasco, Wonderful food, Great service. more

A Salt-lick 7/23/2006

I never ever write reviews. But I had to after my experience at Fogo de Chao. I specifically became a registered user on city search so that I could write this reveiw. The only thing good at this restaurant is the salad bar and the round cheese bread that they serve you. Other than that every single piece of meat that was placed on my plate was exteremely salty!!!! The meat was not very well seasoned at all. The meats all tasted like they have been soaked for years in salt water! If you want a salt-lick than this is the place for you. I would rather have the brazilian BBQ at the Farmer's Market at the Grove --way better! Well... except for the round cheese bread. Fogo de Chao brings out these freshly made round little cheese breads that are just fantastic. However, I can't find it worth my time and money to come here just for the bread and salad bar. So, so disappointing. Initially, I was really excited about eating here. I even tried having at least a taste of every type of meat that they had available but every single piece was way too salty. I don't know.. maybe it is me. But, every person at my table highly agreed with me. Other than the extremely salty meats the service was great. The waiters were very prompt. Pros: service Cons: food more

Adkins Approved Dining- THE place for meat! 7/21/2006

Simply terriifc. Don't bother too much with the salad bar and apptizers. They're good but you can get that kind of food almost anywhere. The meat, chicken and pork are the reason to come...and it's all great! They keep bringing around about 13 types of low carb protein, all Adkins approved. Desserts are terrific too bit who really has the room? Excellent service. A fun, unique experice!\r With a drinks, dessert and a tip figure about $100 per person. Pros: great meat! more

GREAT PLACE FOR SOMEONE WHO LOVES MEAT 7/18/2006

Fogo's Slams! 4/21/2006

GOOD STUFF! The different format at Fogo's is a welcomed change. The food is outstanding, and there's plenty of it. Just keep the thing turned to the green side and the food keeps comin'. Turn it to red, and give yourself time to chew and enjoy. The kaiperina is much cooler than a mojito, and has a little more kick. Overall, 1 of my new favorites. If you like meat, you'll love this place. Pros: Great food, Substantial portions, great service Cons: Don't go late, Small kids is tough more

Total Package and Worth Every Penny!! 4/10/2006

If you haven't tried this place, you are truly missing out. This is like no other brazilian restaurant you have tried in the past. This is the total package in a restaurant experience from drinks (caiparinia), eclectic salad bar like no other, quality meats, dessert to die for, and the service is the best in town. Don't fill up on the salad bar and save room for dessert. If you don't enjoy this place you are doing something wrong. Yes, you will be spending some cash but the experience is worth it. Make sure to ask for the after dinner drink presentation. The chain of Fogo's are consistant in every way, from Sao Paulo to Chicago to Atlanta, etc. Pros: Helpful/Amazing Staff, Great food, Not Pretentious more

This is the place 3/28/2006

If you want the best in Churrascaria, this I believe is the place. The meat is vey good. Perfectly done and served by experts cooks. Although there is a place in Rio that is better...however, I live in BH and don't want to travel too far! Staff is great. Very good wine list, as well. I like this place! A lot... Pros: Very good meat, Staff, Location more

Great Food, Great Service 3/14/2006

My husband and I went here on to celebrate his new career. The service was excellent, prompt and courteous. The salad bar was wonderful and the meats were plentiful! All you can eat without compromising quality. A bit on the expensive side, but worth it! our bill + a bottle of pinot came out to about $200. Definitely make reservations though. All in all, a great place to eat! Pros: Food, Service, Quality Cons: A bit loud more

a great night out 2/5/2006

people that whine about a price at a restaurant in beverly hills need to find an Outback or Chilis; obviously it will be expensive. so the next question deals with the food (FABULOUS), the experience (FUN), the wine list (EXTENSIVE), the bling (SAW FOUR CELEBS THERE), parking (VALET) ... it was a full-on beverly hills experience. i'll do it again next time i'm in the area. Pros: amazing food, thorough wine list, fun environment Cons: reservation necessary more

Nice Brazilian Food, but Come Hungry 12/28/2005

I recently went to Fogo de Chao with a large group of friends. This place was lively and great for a large party. The food was nicely prepared and there was a ton of tasty meat items for everyone. This is NOT the place for a nice intimate dinner, but I would definitely recommend it for those carnivores that appreciate nicely grilled meat. There is very limited menu for vegetarians. Overall this is nice restaurant for those who love Brazillian Barbeque. Pros: Good for large groups, Plenty of tasty food, great service Cons: Limited Vegetarian more

Great meats!! If you can handle it. 9/20/2005

I thought this place was great. But you better be in the mood for all that meat. more

Do not even THINK of coming without a reservation 9/3/2005

Registered @7:41, was quoted an hour wait, became first in walk-in list by 8PM, stayed there till 8:55 when I have left because there still was no real estimate of table availability. They maintain separate walk-in lists depending on the party size, so someone who has arrived much later than you may get seated earlier. Judging by my observation of the dining room, small parties are at a serious disadvantage. By the time I gave up, there have been three more parties of two who have registered after us, but gave up too and were crossed out. Fogo, probably, cook good meat, but have no respect for our time - it was my fault for not having the reservation, but it was their choice to keep me waiting when they clearly saw that they were over their capacity (even parties with reservations were asked to wait twenty minutes). Pros: Reputation Cons: Very crowded, Noisy more

Pricey but a wonderful experience 8/24/2005

Have been to many similar churrascarias-this one is by far the best. Excellent, attentive but not intrusive service. Great tasting meat (and plenty of it) and yes, the garlic steak is fantastic! Good bar and drinks. The salad bar is smaller than some other churrascarias and the number of types of meat brought out are also smaller at this place-but again, what they do bring out is out of this world. Would return in a second-in fact, will be returning very, very soon. Go hungry! Pros: Execellent service, Fast seating Cons: More variety of meats more

Garlic beef!!!! 8/5/2005

Outstanding all the way around! Highly recommend for quality of food and service. Don't fill up too much at the salad bar and the rolls, although delicious and tempting! Flipping the discs are fun. The trick is to flip when you see the cut of meat that one of the chefs are walking around with! The garlic beef was more delicious than the filet mignon. Their signature beef dish (pinhaca-sp?) is good as well. Lamb chops were out of this world as well. Overall outstanding experience. Will be back! Great wine list too! Pros: Good val. for $50 pp, Garlic beef!, Great service Cons: valet parking, but isn't everywhere, valet in LA? more

AMAZING!!! 6/29/2005

Amazing can only describe this dining experience. Fogo de Chao has the best service. You feel like a king, the servers wait on your every move. The steak is delicious, and the desserts are awesome. You have to try the papaya cream. I've been twice now, both times just as good. The atmosphere is impressive with a floor to ceiling wine cellar as soon as you walk in. Seems pricey at first..but worth every penny. Definitley my new favorite place in LA. more

Excellent gnoshing 6/17/2005

Happy to see LA has such a place. Many in Brasil and the original Fogo Santo Amaro and the one Houston is good you just never go wrong. My disappointment is no javalina or cupim at Fogo in the States. A regular feature in Brasil at Churrascarias. I recommended it to friends and have had business there. They write back later of how their office is clamoring to get a trip. World-class salad bar and the one review should be as if BR ""bufalo"" which looks like an egg. Service is under tradition, you can tone down by following the rules. Service will be, by itself, total. If overbearing, turn the disc. That is what the service looks for. Green is GO GO GO and red slacks to your preference. Flip back to green, you are like royalty again. You have to ask for the chimichurri, but they will bring. Pros: Wonderful meats, all that salad, very clean Cons: no limon for, caipirinha, only, CA limes more

A Carnivore's Dream! 6/7/2005

I was so excited when I found out they had open a Fogo in Southern California. I was a frequent visitor at the Dallas locale. The meal is a little pricey.........almost $50/person. But, you definitely get fantastic quality food. Best of all, you can eat to your hearts content. One word of advice, don't overload your plate at the salad bar.........the myriad of items from fresh mozerella to marinated asparagus to a variety of cheeses fill you up fast and you won't have room for the main attraction, the fabulous selection of meats. By far, my favorite cut is the rare bottom sirloin! The dessert menu is amazing........that's because many of their items are from Susina Bakery! But definitely try either the mango or strawberry cream with a splash of liquor! Service is fantastic as well! Pros: Food, Selection, Service Cons: Pricey more
