I am new to the area, so I scheduled a ""meet and greet"" to choose a vet. I was swamped with brochures and recommendations for all kinds of shots and pills--this was a shock con...

grooming 4/25/2010

Good: new to fairmount area,my cat needed grooming and she is no charmer, the groomer was very caring and not afraid of my girl sally. she told me i could come back and stay with her while she was getting groomed. sally not only tried to bite her but had a accident on her table. the groomer was wonderful to her and really understands cats. the best groomer i have been to and someone who takes there time to make you and your pet feel welcome.. Other: i had no idea that fairmount animal hospital did grooming only by accident when sally was getting her rabies shot we were standing in the waiting room to check out ,and i saw the groomer carrying a little poodle in her arms like the dog belonged to her,the owners were standing right next to me. i had to ask about the groomer and of course that conversation went on for to long. dog and cat grooming fairmount is the best.. more

Routine Surgeries a BIG YES! 7/5/2006

For me this is one of the better hospitals if you do not wish to have excessive work done on your pet and you are looking for quality work at an affordable price. Sure if your pet needs a kidney transplant or a cardiac surgery then they will refer you to a specialist center such as penn with more adequate facilities for such surgeries. If you are looking for a place that you need to trust (and a nice staff with plenty of knowledge) then: This is it!!!. The prices are not the cheapest for this area but it is affordable. They do excellent routine surgeries (spays, neuters wounds, lumps etc...). All dogs and cats have a pre-op blood work prior to surgery and they use inhalent anesthesia (safest) prior to any spay and neuter. They do not offer pet boarding other than for a few cats (and only limited space). By the way, although a generalist, the vet (very nice) has a residency (3 years after DVM). Visit their website at: www.fairmountanimalhospital.com If I look at the product (services) and not the container (30year old animal hospital) it's definitivelly a five stars. I was very pleased with my experience. more

Skip Surgery 2/21/2006

This is not one of the better hospitals. However I will say it is ok. The staff is nice enough and they take you in a timely manner. And they do offer price matching for the pet products they sell. I just would not take my pet here for major surgery because I don't think the facilities are up to par. The prices are very low for pet services so i am a bit suspect. They do offer boarding for pets so that is very nice. It was not crowded when I went for my visit. more
