Good location - bad everything else 12/10/2009

I have to agree with the other reviews on here. Aside from being in a good location, there was nothing good about these apartments. They are outdated, never updates, never cleaned, they are crawling with bugs including hobo spiders and box-elder bugs and management would not move a muscle no matter what you report to them. I would like to think they were just targeting me for some arbitrary reason or because they didn't like me, but I spoke with all my neighbors in my building and the unanimous sentiment was that management existed only in name and did nothing. They will never fix anything you tell them is wrong or anything that was wrong from the day you moved in, and then they will have the audacity to charge you for that problem when you move out. And guess where that money is going! Not to fix the problem obviously because otherwise the places would be updated and fixed at some point. The police or security were constantly at our building or neighboring buildings checking in on the riff raff, and the management wouldn't do anything about people smoking inside other than leave notes with empty threats on doors. There were also a lot of animals left at large to run through the complex parking lot and leave feces all over. I don't actually know if there was management existing per se - other than having an automated voice mail to leave messages at, we never heard from any management except during our move in process and when we broke lease to high-tail it out of there. I would have paid three times that exorbitant fee just to get rid of that mess. Pros: In Holladay Cons: MANAGEMENT, bugs, thugs, smokers galore, pets at large more

Great location, older apartments 10/16/2009

Great location. The Holiday Lions Rec Center is literally right across the street. Safe neighborhood. Apartments are spacious and well lit. Unfortunately the walls seem pretty thin and our neighbor watches TV 24/7. The appliances and windows are old. Plenty of room in the closets, but no extra storage or balcony. Management isn't great at returning phone calls or keeping the grounds well-kept. Pros: location, space, lighting Cons: loud neighbor, management, grounds more

No so much.. 9/6/2008

Apartments are decent sized. No balcony. Management is awful. We would get notes on OUR door (not other doors) about smoking and throwing cigarette butts on the grass! WE DON'T SMOKE!! Maybe it was the kids that were out there 20 hours a day smoking! Our kitchen flooded once because the pipe was rusted.. it took them 2 days to come over!! They have a ""fenced-in"" area which is absolutely DISGUSTING!! When we moved out we cleaned the apartment and BOTH blinds clasps(?) broke (we never used them because we were on the bottom level so we kept them closed). I called them as soon as it happened and we got charged for it! Pros: Apartment size is okay if you don't mind having no balcony/patio.. Cons: Management, insects, smoking, trash, parking.. more

Worst complex EVER 6/23/2007

I've lived in five different apartment communities covering two countries and two different U.S. states. And by far, Fairbrook -- and more specifically the owning company Linden Colonial -- is the laziest management I have ever dealt with. NEVER did I think a group of individuals could be so incompetent. We were assured before moving in that all the concerns and problems we listed on a pre-move-in inspection sheet would be addressed. They did nothing. The apartments are crawling with insects. We throw away upwards of 40 insects everyday and the management has still failed to fix even one of the laundry-list of issues we directed them to do prior to moving in. It seems as though bi-weekly reminders aren't enough to get even the simplest jobs done. And when the maintenance people did show their lazy faces on the one occasion, they literally pounded the floor and walls with a hammer a couple of times and left without a word like it was an inconvenience rather than their job to be working with the tenants to uphold the basic necessities of the contractual agreement. The owners and management clearly lack even the most basic understanding of a contractual obligation and don't comprehend the two-way covenant of a landlord-tenant agreement. They also try to coerce tenants to enter into unlawful contractual agreements upon renting a unit in order to save themselves money. Altogether, while the apartments are shaded and spacious, the management neglects even the most basic understanding of how to operate a day-to-day landlord-tenant agreement. I have never witnessed a more incompetent and lazy staff in my entire life. The do-nothing personality is set from the very top and trickles down, by example, to the very lowest of the staff in the maintenance workers. Before you consider trying to rent here, you might want to check down the street to see if there's a nice-sized box in the Dumpster behind the Training Table. There are probably fewer insects back there anyway. Pros: environment, area Cons: management, insects, old, management, management, landlord, maintenance, management more
