We moved to the area seven years ago and were searching for a vet as good as the superstar vet we had at our previous location. After a few years of trial and disappointment, we found Dr. Bassett from a recommendation. Exeter Veterinary Hospital is the best! Dr. Bassett, Dr. Hill and Dr. Lindsey are real people - down to earth - and they get it! I trust all of them implicitly and feel confident in their abilities and their opinions. Their fees are reasonable because they care about your pet's well-being - not about their bottom line. They are a rare find!\r \r more

I have four cats and have taken them exclusively to Exeter Vet for over a decade. I request Dr. Bassett, as his skills with cats are unmatched. No matter how unruly a pet behaves, Dr. B. is able to calm and work successfully with the animal. I have had a couple of pet illnesses, and he not only diagnosed them, but he paid attention to the impact on the owner as well. He is friendly, knowledgeable, thorough, and straight-forward (without being clinical). And, when he has treated an animal over time, he remembers certain details and consults the chart, in order to get a full picture. Anyone who has met him must recognize his genuine love for his work. As far as the staff go, they have always treated my cats and me with respect and professionalism. They are upbeat, responsive, and sensitive. The whole team knows how to handle owners in a time of extreme stress or loss. I have read some negative posts and cannot believe that the comments apply to the people at Exeter Vet. I am well-versed in human healthcare and serve as a consultant. I would never subject my cats to anything but the best care. I highly recommend Exeter Vet, and for cats, Dr. Bassett specifically. more

One Time Was ENOUGH! 4/4/2012

The attitude and treatment of the office staff is enough to turn you off before you even get in to see the vet.\r \r If you need to request pet medical records, forget it! I was collecting ALL records from my pet who had 1 visit here years ago and the receptionist told me that it was obsolete so there was no sense in faxing it to me.\r \r Excuse me, but I paid for a service and would like it for MY records, you don't get to make that call.\r \r I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone I know with pets. If they treat humans like this, I can only imagine the treatment the poor animals get.\r \r RUDE, RUDE, RUDE! more

Very Disheartening 2/28/2012

I have recently learned that the NH board of veterinary medicine allows a public license look up on their website which allows the public to see their DVM's licence and more importantly, it shows any disciplinary action the DVM has received (if any) from the Board of Veterinary Medicine. \r \r I was very displeased to see that Dr. Bassett has been discipline by the board for malpractice. As you may read in the link below, Dr. Bassetts actions lead to the necessary euthanasia of his patient. \r \r The board discipline Dr. Bassett by requiring he inform any employer or future employer of this incidence (which would most likely result in his termination/not being hired). Sadly, Dr. Bassett owns his own practice and therefore may refrain from following through with this punishment because he is his own boss. \r \r I personally am appalled that Dr. Bassett has not been held responsible for his actions. His negligence led first to the injury and then to the death of his patent. I do not find it re more

Malpractice! Disciplined by Board of Medicine! 2/27/2012

I have recently learned that the NH board of veterinary medicine allows a public license look up on their website which allows the public to see their DVM's licence and more importantly, it shows any disciplinary action the DVM has received (if any) from the Board of Veterinary Medicine. I was very displeased to see that Dr. Bassett has been discipline by the board for malpractice. As you may read in the link below, Dr. Bassetts actions lead to the necessary euthanasia of his patient. The board discipline Dr. Bassett by requiring he inform any employer or future employer of this incidence (which would most likely result in his termination/not being hired). Sadly, Dr. Bassett owns his own practice and therefore may refrain from following through with this punishment because he is his own boss. I personally am appalled that Dr. Bassett has not been held responsible for his actions. His negligence led first to the injury and then to the death of his patent. I do not find it remotely acceptable that his current and future clients are not informed of the malpractice that has taken place at Exeter Vet so they can evaluate the care their pets are receiving. A Great Staff and Care for Your Animal 10/19/2009

I have been using them for six years and find that the veterinary assistants and doctors are very caring and thorough in the medical care they provide. Although you may first enter the facility and not see the modern touches of a waiting area or examination rooms, they are clean, but could use some aesthetic updates. This is more for pleasing the human eye...than most pets. I like the yearly reminders, and extra touches they provide to ensure your animal is healthy. They also do a lot of work for low income and animal shelters, which tells me that they are certainly not in it for the money. Pros: Great Staff Cons: Older Building...Needs Aesthetic Updates more

vet services 11/15/2008

I used their services several years ago and they were very good with my animals and their prices were competitive for the area. Now my niece used this vet clinic and gets the same type of service. They are very kind and helpful. more
