Editorial review from Citysearch 1/10/2013

Wouldn't touch these guys with a 10' pole. My uncle died in August 2012. While settling his estate, came across an automatic deduction for $32.02 from one of his checking accounts. Traced it down to 1st Security Bank (another outfit I'd avoid). Never received a statement in the mail, and when I called 1st Security, they wouldn't talk to me without the usual hoops (uncle's death certificate, etc.). Turned out, Evans Glass somehow solicited business from my then-74 year old uncle, had him sign a 10-year finance agreement at 9.99% APR, and while the total amount for the windows was $2424.32, with the finance charge of $1418.08, the total I had to pay from his estate was $3842.40. Now, my uncle was from the depression era, was tight with money, didn't believe in financing that which he could pay for, had over $60,000 in savings and $45,000 in checking, bought a new car with cash in 2004, and somehow Evans Glass found him and talked him into this rediculous financing arrangement, which went against everything my uncle believed in. Can't reach Evans Glass, and after numerous examinations, cant locate 3 Eurocraft windows that would have been installed in 2008 in his house. Next stop is the Attorney General's office to file a complaint against Evans Glass, Inc. AND 1st Security Bank, although I'll probably have to go through another government office to file a complaint against them. Bottom line: I believe Evans Glass through door-to-door outreach, targeted my elderly uncle with a high-pressure sales pitch. Dont know how they managed the 10-year plan. Although he was old and beginning to get sick, my uncle NEVER would have agreed to such a plan. STAY AWAY FROM BOTH THESE BUSINESSES. Even if your experience wasn't as bad, it should bother you that they would do that to someone else. more

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE / QUESTIONABLE PRODUCT 4/12/2011

In 2004 I had 16 Eurocraft windows installed by Evans Glass, Inc. Seattle, WA. It was done professionally and efficiently by about 6 men, in one day. I have tile windowsills and they successfully installed all 16 windows with a minimum number of tiles sustaining small cracks. They even came back to add additional molding around the three front windows when I requested it, after the installation was complete. The windows are beautiful but: 1. Some of the ""locks"" no longer work. 2. The installers had a difficult time installing one of the windows and green mold has been collecting along the bottom of the window, both inside and outside, and also growing in the window track. I clean them regularly but it keeps returning. 3. I have tried in vane to reach Evans Glass but only get a busy signal. 4. They have no email address to handle customer service. 5. The warranty appears to be non-existent through this company. 6. I will now have to resort to sending a letter to Evans Glass in order to contact them. If I do not receive a prompt reply and repair/replacement of those items no longer working, I will need to send a letter to Eurocraft. 7. No reputable company should force customers to take these measures in order to receive service. more

GOOD FIND ON 14 WINDOWS 12/9/2009

I used Evans Glass to remove and replace 14 existing windows. I solicited three different bids from different companies. Penguin Windows came in at $24,600. No Way. Champion came in at $15,300. Not bad. Evans Glass came in at $12,600. Bingo! The funniest part about it was I believe I purchased a good product. Penguin has a very nice window as well but the price was just to much to handle. Champion's window I was not impressed with. When the installes came out they completed the job in one day. The only problem I had was the fact that they do not paint around the window after install. They said I was responsible for that. You think after spending that much money I would not have to do a thing. The windows are very nice. Overall I think it went very well. Pros: BEST PRICE I FOUND more

THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD WAS WITH ONE LOCK ON A WINDOW AND THEY CAME OUT AND FIXED IT RIGHT AWAY. Pros: VERY SMOOTH DEAL more

Windows Windows Windows 12/3/2009

Evans Glass found me at True Value Hardware Store. They came to my home and did an energy inspection on my windows. I had no Idea they were in such bad shape. They showed me the Eurocraft window and I fell in love. I could not afford to do the whole house so I started with the front. If I had a question I called the office and they answered it right away. I probably was annoying to the office people but they were always polite and upbeat with me. They came out four weeks later to do the install. Travis and Jamie were great. Evans Glass needs to call me back around August 2010 I have more windows to do. Pros: The Install Crew more

First Class 12/3/2009

I am very pleased with my new windows. I was impressed with the young couple that came to my door to initiate the process. The follow up salesman Chris Babler convinced me that I would be buying a first class product. The installers were very professional, very courteous and amazed me by their speed and efficiency. I would highly reccomend evans glass to anyone considering new windows. Pros: Simply The Best more

WHAT A MESS 12/2/2009

I found Evans Glass in my Ace Hardware store. I was kinda skeptical at first. They came out presented a good product so i ordered it. I thought it was going to be a mess. I thought it was going to take three days to change my old windows out from my 1913 brick house. The install guys did it all in one day. The windows fit perfect. The guys really had there stuff together. I would recommend Evans Glass to anyone that wants it done by the pros. I still can not believe they did the whole job in one day. I think my neighbor just ordered windows from them to. more

Pay My Bill 11/25/2009

I just purchased windows from Evans Glass and they are paying my bill. They are sending a check for $638.42 to my utility company. It is a new program they are starting. They said there rivals say they will save up to %40 percent energy on there bills but there is no way to prove it. So Evans Glass is paying it forward. Kind of a cool idea. I needed windows anyway and now I'm getting paid for it. lol Pros: Evans Glass New Bill Pay Plan more

EUROCRAFT 11/25/2009

Evans Glass did 7 winows and a patio door in my home. The price was fair. The installers did a good job. They did break one window on install. They came out and fixed it next week no problem. I was scared at first spending that kind of money. It all worked out in the end. Pros: GOOD QUALITY more

The Warranty is not worth the paper it is written on! 10/22/2009

5 of my windows were installed with the seal broken. After contacting them regarding the issue it took them about 6 months to finally refer my complaint to Eurocraft. When a representative from Eurocraft came out they concluded that there was no problem that the windows were just dirty. They finally agreed to replace one window. I argued that the other windows where also a problem but it went no where. The representative told me to take pictures of the condensation. Well, I did that, sent them the pictures and when Eurocrafts rep. came out they then said the condensation was from the outside. I plan on filing a complaint with the Attorney General. It is a mess, especially the amount of money I spent on them. My only option is to pull them out and buy new ones from another company. Cons: They don't honor their warranty. more

French door is kewl 5/30/2008

I had two older sliding glass doors removed and French doors were installed. It took six weeks for them to build the doors and bring them to my house for install. They swing so nice and easy, and they are more efficent energy wise than my older sliding doors. Pros: French doors are really nice Cons: Calling them is confusing; but website is helpful. It has extension numbers more

Problems with Evans Glass 5/12/2008

I, too, had problems with the installation of my Evans Glass windows (a broken pane). However, reading the reviews herein, I noticed that a Matt Flath had responded from the company. I had first called the company about mid-April, after having windows installed March 31, and did not get a satisfactory response. Called again April 30, was told my replacement window was in and an installer would call me in seven days to set up a schedule. That didn't happen. So, looking for reviews I ran across this site. So, called Matt Flath on May 9. He called me back the same day, and then sent an internal message to someone in the company. I received a call back from that person the same day, and scheduled an installer at my home on May 14. The installer has just left, after completing installation of a new pane in my window. I suggest that others having a problem call Matt at his company phone (1-800-875-2250, ext 112). However, since he is often travelling, send him an e-mail at the address shown in his ""review"", and I believe he can help you. more
