last night was my 3d or 4th visit to woody's south & i wasn't let down: the waitress displayed as little enthusiasm to see us as she had on previous visits. after a lackluster greeting (which appeared to interrupt her dinner as she was wiping her mouth as she scurried in from the kitchen), we were told to sit anywhere. she immediately took our beverage order (2 tap beers) which took an inordinately long time, esp since the bar was 10 steps from us & we were 2 of less than 15 people in the place. apparently she was the only waitstaff besides the bartender, but she didn't appear to ever be in a hurry & didn't show a smile until my dining partner (after a beer & a half) asked her if she ever would! we decided on the sampler platter--we weren't in a hurry & it could be why our food took so long--it finally arrived & we weren't disappointed & enjoyed the chicken wings (en fuego) w/ blue cheese, potato skins (could hv been hotter) served w/ sour cream & pico de gallo, onion strings w/ ranch dressing, & esp the shrimp flautas w/ soy/sesame sauce. those were served piping hot & burned the tongue if you weren't careful (good thing we had our very cold harp & newcastle!). after being ignored for a while when we wanted another beer, i finally went to the bar & she (of course) showed up at our table & told me she would bring my beer (but didn't get my partner's order). she ended up comping the beer, which was nice, but then we ordered a plate of nacho mamas ($6.99) w/ shrimp which she informed us 'should not be on the menu' since they don't offer them w/ shrimp anymore. we settled for chicken (add $2.50) & then didn't see her or our food for 30 MINUTES. i was about to cancel our order w/ the bartender but she then showed up & said our food would be right out. when we got them, they were hot & flavorful, served w/ sour cream & some so-so pico de gallo. hope this review helps to improve service; woody's has a wonderful atmosphere & richard younger band (nm?) was great!
Pros: beer good 'n cold, yummy shrimp flautas, great music (& not too loud), cozy bar area
Cons: wait service: s-l-o-w & non-caring, menus & website need updating
